300+ yards of offense, our points will come.

The ammount of pessimism that has been around the board over the last 2 days has been ridiculous. What happened to all of the homers that were here that thought the skins would going to go 10-6? I have never seen a fan base ever get so negative after a win. Yes, it was a nast win, but we still won.

Our offense totaled 323 yards of offense. It's not like the bears defense is bad. To be honest, they are probably one of the stronger defenses we will play thiss season. Kansas City, Oakland, 49er's and the chargers to name a few. There are really only 2 or 3 teams that we have to play that have better defenses than the bears. 323 yards against teams like oakland will put points on the board. The bears have a good red zone defense. It was proven when they stopped us on the 1 and 5 yard line.

Yes, we do have a QB contreversy right now, but it could be worse. The running game is by far the strength of our team. As bad as our QB situation might look, we will always have clinton portis. Portis and the o-line is the backbone to this offense.

So please, don't get down on the Redskins yet, it has only been 1 game. We played bad in 1 game, and still won. We are going to have a lot of close games this season with the type of game style that we play. I just hope that everytime we get a close win like this, people won't blow up and act like it is the end of the world.

Joe Gibbs is molding this team around his style of play. Without the turnovers that we had on Sunday, our game would look a lot better. The bears would have never scored their touchdown, and we would have put up 3 or 7 more points if it wasn't for that non-call on PR.

Brunell would hold onto the ball, he showed that in preseason. He didn't have 1 intereception in preseason. If we can just cut down on our turnovers, we will be fine on the field. Joe Gibbs is doing the first thing to make that happen.

Look, it's always possible that Brunell really will be much, much, much, much, much better than he was last year, but if he isn't, and he stays in as the starter, we're not going to win any more games than we did last year. In three quarters of play against the Bears, the offense looked exactly like it did last year, which means the possibility is slim. That's just the way it is.

please remember that the gameplan developed for the bears was for RAMSEY not Brunell... things change depending on who plays QB and the game circumstances

By not going for it on 4th and damn close at the Bears 1, Gibbs was saying (up by 2 is enough.. the D will hold and we will win)

Redskins are 16th in offense, 26th in scoring offense after week 1. This offense HAS potential, but really needs to get better at limiting turnovers and scoring TDs in the red zone. I would be happy with 16th in offense and improving to top 20 in scoring offense, which I think is achievable.

Defense is ranked 2nd. I don't think we can stay there with the limited pass rush from the front four, but I think they can stay a top 10 defense all year.

The offense had "potential" when Ramsey was in there. Now we have a guarantee...of no passing game.

How can people be so negative after a loss. I mean come on, we did have 320+ yards of offense. Our qbs don't need to have big performances everytime their in the game. All they need to do really is take care of the football, waste time off the clock, and HELP punch it into the endzone once or twice a game. The key to this team being successful is on the defense and the kicking game. If we can keep them fresh and off the field as much as possible, then we will have a winning season. Think about it, we won on sunday without even scoring a touchdown, that has to say something. Its not like we couldn't move the ball or something. Granted, we are not going to win games scoring nine points but we could at least try staying positive and look at how much time we were able to keep the ball for. Portis had a 100+ yard day against a strong run defense. Brunell was consistent. The only thing the Skins' need work on are the turnovers. Ramsey threw a pick and fumbled. Antonio lost the ball on a kick return. And now, Ramsey is riding the bench and Antonio is gone. Minus those two people from the picture and we were realitively mistake free going into the second week.

The problem is, this exact same post could have been written a year ago after the Tampa game...

An arm, good and quick judgement, mobility (though not a requirement), these are the atributes a QB should have in the NFL. But wait, there is another, we talk about in passing, but is at least as important as the others. It is poise. It's a confidence in the other three that starts in the QB's head,a clarity of purpose, and infects the rest of the offense.

Ramsey, in his time with the Redskins, has shown he has the arm but is lacking in judgement and has zero poise. Evidence of zero poise is the "happy feet".

I don't see how anyone can watch him overthrow nearly every pass, not have any sense of who's zoning in on him in the pocket (result: fumble),

And still be in his corner. I was in his corner, no longer. Brunell for now, Campbell the future.

sure 300+ yards of offense SHOULD get you more points. What does it say to you that Ramsey in 1 quarter had more yards than Brunell did in 3 quarters- with the gameplan based on pressuring Ramsey, the happiest (footed) man in the planet? (105-70) no matter how much we rationalize putting in Brunell, he only managed to hand the ball the Portis and Betts enough to get 300+ (166 from the rushing game, 105 from ramsey, and aggregate of 68 from brunell). I don't know about you guys, but I want a QB in there that could do something me or you couldn't do. Say what you want about Ramsey, but when he came in last year when his first start was against the eagles, and the Redskins proceeded to go 3-4 (and three of those losses were against the Steelers and Eagles) He only lost one game we should have won (Dallas):dallasuck That said, if we're not going to give Ramsey an equal shot at the job, we should definitely trade him for someone who wouldn't kill gibbs like Ramsey apparently does.

What are you guys talking about? Our offense look like last year? Realy? Lets not even go into the BS call that erased Cooley's TD and we will not go into the fact that Ramsey fumbled the ball after an atrocious hit and a non-call by the zebras. That right there is for sure 3 if not 7 points. The Brunell gets us down all the way to the half yard line, its not like we got stopped at the 10 and we had to kick a fieldgoal. We could and should have gone for it because even if we didn't make it I would have loved to see the Bears get the ball there. A saftey comes to mind real quick. Anyway another field goal. Then Gibbs literaly shuts down the offense (read pass). man it was 3 and 7 and we still run the ball. WTF? You mean to tell me we wouldn't have gotten points if we needed them? At what point in Brunell's playing did you notice that one of the best Ds in the NFC was stopping us cold? Because I didn't notice that. I notice a team running at will and when a Gibbs team runs like that Gibbs keeps running. Dude 321 yards against the Bear D is nothing to sneeze about.

Granted the boys got the TDs (with a few penalties to help them out as usual) and still didn't get that many yards and I am sorry if anyone out there is idiotic enough to say that SD has a D even close to the Bears. The points will come.

My sentiments exactly. Only one thing, you forgot to mention, he does not "Look off" his receiver. He practically stares at the intended reciever giving the other teams D plenty of time to recover (if needed) and make a play. Patrick will never be a starting QB in the NFL

Just kidding. Look at Frerotte in Miami. He looked good Sunday

If you have intelligence, desire, and a will to win, anything is possible :applause:

Brunell & Farve are at the end of their careers. Farve looked like horsemeat

against the Lions. At least Brunell did NOT make a fatal error. Brunell is a bandaid for this season. Gibbs is hoping for mistake free play from his Qb and another outstanding season from the D to give this franchise some respectability. Gibbs has always played it close to the vest. No major mistakes and NO PENALTIES is his style. What, 9-7 or maybe 10-6 is not possible with our schedule? Split with the boyz, midgets & eaglets and we're in. After that, anything can happen.

If Brunell can play mistake free against the boyz (no ints/fumbles) we have a d@mn good shot. I think that is why Brunell is starting. Patrick always throws an int or fumbles at the most inopportune times :(
