A.Brown out, new kicker in (MERGED)

Joe Gibbs is a liar. He promised Antonio Brown he would be the primary kick returner. After ONE GAME he not only is demoted, but released. I can never trust Joe Gibbs again. He's evil.

Clearly, the two situations are exactly the same and as you fully described the positions of your opponents.

In any event, I'll be waiting for the benching after Brunell's first spate of turnovers. Methinks I'll be waiting a long time.

Funny, but seriously...

Why pick up Novak and put him in this situation. We are going to have enough problems scoring points as it is, but with a rookie kicker? I really like Novak, I've even met and talked with the guy, but this really isn't the best time for him to get a shot at kicking for us. This is one of the biggest games we have had in a while, the last thing we need is more inconsistency on the offense (i.e. kicking)

I like the move, I think, but it seems really strange at this time. Is (oops) GIBBS trying to see if Novak can be the answer long term...wouldn't he go for a more experianced kicker otherwise...Chandler or someone else?

Anyway this is a very, very interesting move.

It can be argued that you can't cut everyone who makes a turnover because turnovers happen.

Now if Brunell throws three picks next week, that will be the TRUE test of Gibbs' commitment.

If you make mistakes on a regular basis or at critical times, you'll be let go.

I remember during Gibbs' first tenure, a marginal player on a punt return didn't get out of the way of the kick and it hit him in the back, the other team got the ball in good field position and scored to win the game...that guy was gone the next week...we haven't seen any accountability from players since Gibbs left the first time....it's refreshing.

It happened last year...it could happen again...

First time I've seen Gibbs referred to as Bush.

now where are those posters who say Gibbs is a hypocrite for keeping Brown while benching P-Ram cause of turnovers??? Gibbs HAS a system boys and girls.

Quoted for truth. I kept hearing over and over from Theisman, Jergunson, and other former Redskins players. Coach Gibbs has no tolorance for turn overs and he will yank you if he needs to. I think coach is now settled in this year, and ready to be who he is. That's why you see Ramsey benched, and Brown cut. And I guaruntee you that if Brunell makes the same kindo of dumb head scratcher kind of decisions that Ramsey made with the football and throws INTs with it, he will have a much shorter leash on Brunell than he did last year. But I doubt that will happen because Brunell looks efficiant this year.

They definately need to bring back Kevin Dyson. I think he could even return kicks for them. After all, he was responsible for the Music City Miricle.

I would have thought that Jeff Chandler would be a more reliable kicker than this kid. I mean in a clutch pressure situation like the kicks we need in the kinds of close games we play, I woul think a rookie would sweat a whole lot more than a vet like Chandler in that situation.

Well, at any rate, I'll take this as good news. I just wish they wouldn't have cut Darnarian and gave him a chance. People want to talk about Ramsey never getting a chance when in fact it's McCant who never got a shot. I bet you he could have had 10 TDs last year for us if they used him around the goal line. Forget Sean Taylor, McCants is a better Red Zone/Jump ball guy.

Well, this is the other shoe. After Ramsey being benched, this had to happen, I guess. I'm sorry to see him go, but this is the second time he's fumbled on a kickoff. Plus the fact that he was taking far too many risks back there, not calling fair catches.

I hope the kid kicker does well for us on monday.

But, man, we are thin at WR now...

Seriously though what do you all think? Why use a young guy like this for such an important game...especially if he is afraid of his players making mistakes...

Does he just want to slap Dallas in the face and energize the fans...:-)

(it would be fun to see Nick get a game winning kick over Dallas, after they just cut him)

I don't necessarily disagree with the cut, I'm just saying, one could definitely argue the punishment was excessive considering his potential and athletic ability. But I have a feeling this has been going on in camp for a long while.

He said yesterday to the press that he was leaving this up to Danny Smith, that Danny had 4 guys he was looking at, and they would bring in the best one.

Gibbs shouldn't be afriad of his players making a mistake. The players should be afraid of making a mistake ;)

Plus, think about it.. If this guy does well on Monday night, on national TV in a big game with lots of pressure. He might just be worth keeping. :2cents:

He hasn't been tearing it up on returns...had his chance at receiving and didn't do well (granted under mental duress) and then makes a mistake at a key time...we were controlling that game.

I knew he was a goner at that time. Gibbs has done this before.

Again, I actually agree with the move to cut him... there's a reason he fell into our laps as a FA.
