By John Keim

Through Week One

Ladell Betts is a better kick returner than Antonio Brown. He doesn't have Brown's speed, but he is more consistent and much harder to tackle. Brown goes down too easily and his fumble was costly. He's been loose with the ball at other times this summer. Betts protects the ball well and has a better career return average.

The Redskins still struggle in the red zone. That's why they used safety Sean Taylor as a wideout in this area. That says a lot about the athletic Taylor; it also says a lot about what they think their receivers can't do in the red zone. Gimmicks aren't usually good long-term solutions.

Chris Cooley is an improved blocker. The second-year H-back cleared a few holes for Clinton Portis by obstructing linebackers, allowing Portis to make a cut. The Redskins love having Cooley pull, especially on counters.

I know what you thinking. Replace LB with MB and AB with PR. Looks like another change is coming.

The one about Taylor in the redzone is something I didn't really think about till right now. He brings up a good point.

Yeah - similar to last season we looked kind of lame in the red zone. Wouldn't be surprised if a few tall free agent wide receivers quietly visit Redskins park over the next month or so.

It's not going to work consistantly.

Taylor does not run good routes, so if you're going to hit him, it's going to be a fade over the top, which we didn't even try to run.

Why shouldn't we run fades versus a CB? Are you worried about him getting jammed at the line?
