atlantaskin
I just can't figure out why we are dealing with this now. This is really amatreurish that we can't even go one half of football without a QB controversy. No way this should be rearing its head now--Gibbs needed to head this off in the pre-season. myzhi
That's part of being a skins fan. Thought we would have some sort of stability with Joe, but that's asking for miracle.
Lavarleap56
Yes we do deserve this!! We deserve to return to the team we grew accumstom to in the 80's and early 90's . Im sorry if there are some fans that are upset by this but how can you even begin to second guess Joe Gibbs ? Gibbs is the only coach to win three different super bowls with three different Q.B.s and people want to jump ship when Gibbs is finally stopping the carousel? This move was made for various reasons and it needed to be made, when players start lobbying for a change its time and we as fans should be excited because the players must know that they have the making of a special team this year and dont want to have to rely on waiting for Ramsey to learn to be a NFL QB. Jason Cambell is the future and Brunell is the present so lets see where we go and evaluate latter. I dont get it Ramsey has proven nothing in his time as a QB of Tulane or the Redskins. Ramsey will be known for having a loose cannon for a arm and that is it.
SlinginSammy HOF '63
Between my wife, kids, church, job and stock portfolio this whole fiasco ranks about 30th on my list of concerns. I feel sorry for the people whom it's tormenting. Not meant at anyone in this thread, but the reaction tonight looks like people would rather have their spouse leave them or get fired then see PR replaced. Brunnell knows that he'll someday be replaced by Campbell while Patrick could never accept it. You may as well put the guy in that knows his future with the team than the guy that refuses to think that he's replaceable. To me, if you stick with Brunnell and groom Campbell there is no controversey. If Patrick plays, every bad game he has will start whispers and rumors. This officially silences the whispers and kills the controversey.
Underwater Ally
I like both Ramsey and Brunell and wish the best for both, but the timing of all of this, and the impact on the fans in particular is what worries me. I was prepared to fully support Brunell if Ramsey lost the job, but what good can come from Brunell being given the job like this? In the mind of many fans (myself included) Ramsey deserves the job. Every time Brunell makes a bad pass, every INT, every game we lose because our offense doesn't come up with enough plays and enough points, a chorus of booing will rain down on the field. Fans will scream for Ramsey. The fans are divided. How can this be good for Brunell? How can this be good for the team? What happens if Brunell again can't make plays like last year? What if Brunell has to be replaced? Gibb's credibility is shot. We are already a joke with the rest of the league. What happens if we become a joke to our own fans? It seems to me that Gibbs is taking a bigger risk to his legacy with this decision. If he fails with Ramsey, it will be said that he tried several things and just couldn't get it done. If he fails again with Brunell, it will be said he failed because he couldn't get over his love affair with an over-the-hill old man. Unless Brunell plays better than he has in five years, I just can't see anything good about this decision.

SlinginSammy HOF '63
Don't get me wrong. Not saying I support the move, but I support killing controversey and getting the early stages going of grooming Campbell. You can't groom Campbell while starting PR because PR will start bellyaching and that kills chemistry. Believe me, I really doub this is about Brunnell being the man and the future. This is about clearing away distractions to make way for Campbell.
wilbur58z
So where were the boos on Sunday when Brunell was playing with the game on the line? You didn't hear any because we were methodically moving the ball on three nice drives with him in there.

Some of your points are valid however Ramsey deserved to loose this job and quite frankly it should have happen during pre-season. Brunell so far in 2005 has been very consistent and has not turned the ball over once! Brunell is very at ease in the pocket and appears to know where he wants to go with the ball as soon as he hits the last step of his drop with no indecision. Ramsey does make some good plays but takes away from all of them with bonehead decisions at the worst time. I like Ramsey as a person and thought he was the answer when he showed promise in his rookie year however he is in his 4th season and he still looks the same as he did his rookie year and that is a problem. Brunell will do very well this season if he stays healthy and our team will benefit from it.

Lavarleap56
So which Skins players told you this? I have not been told anything from players i know and quite frankly if i was i wouldnt share it here due to trust issues that could cause. I made the comment bassed on the comments by Brian Mitchell, Antonio Pierce, Clinton Portis, And David Patten. Mitchell said that players wanted this move on the radio today. Pierce made reference to the fact that the defense didnt think Ramsey was the man for the job. Portis and Patten from comments in articles if true seem to think they are fine with Brunell while not saying anything negative about Ramsey. DCdemolition
the way I see it, this is a huge betrayal of not only Patrick Ramsey, but also the fans. Joe mentioned in his press release that fans will disagree with him -- what do ya think Joe?! did you know it was a stupid decision before you made the call? seems like premeditation to me. In other words, dishonesty with Patrick and the fans. PR and Boo-hell did nothing to warrant the change. If you're throwing in the flag, might as well start Cambell and get him ready for next season. Putting in Brunell means that we will play games with a mentality that the offense will not win the game -- that only goes so far. We're going to get smoked in the NFC east! smack500
I think the problem is we have second and third string caliber qbs fighting for the starting position. Neither ramsey or brunnel are top notch qbs anymore. God I hope something comes from JC.

Another losing season will be good for team chemistry. And the more we lose, the higher our first round pick will be next year! Wow, Mitchell has always put the most negative spin possible on Ramsey, but his is the only one even remotely solid. Pierce made his comment about two months ago when he was trying to pump up hasslebeck when Eli was injured, and he was citing the 2003 season when Hasslebeck was playing for the injured Ramsey - not even remotely relevant to Ramsey vs. Brunell. And Portis and Patton should be expressing confidence in all their QBs. They have done so for Ramsey as well. Are you sugguesting that a compliment for one player is always a dig at another? All this is just a bunch of strung together, out of context quotes and insinuations that really undermine your arguement more than support it.
