Fred Jones
I think Ramsey will see some action as the season progresses. Ramsey will simply become the backup QB. Campbell will continue to be inactive for games. I am even on this answer because I don't think Ramsey lost the job because he got injured as much he didn't prove that he could play. The only thing I would like to see is that Ramsey be given more time to demonstrate that he can play. Gibbs, obviously, has seen enough.

Ghost of
Harrington and Carr are still starting and what have they ever shown other than flashes and a propensity to commit more turnovers than good plays? Even harrington wasn't in danger of being benched after a few series.
pitcherjlt
As a good friend of Patrick's ...... I want him anywhere but Washington!! Nothing against the fans of the Redskins whatsoever but if this was happening to any other quarterback in the league I would say that it was BS too. Gibbs, Parcells, Saban, Gruden, etc ... should never do this to a player. No matter who it is. I don't care how good of a coach you are, how many Super Bowls you have won, how many wins you have, etc ... This type of behavior is very, very shady and deceiving. This matter should have been addressed weeks ago in the preseason if Joe Gibbs and the coaching staff were "uncomfortable" with Patrick and his performance. No one should ever wait until an opportunity like this comes up to make a switch. What happens if Brunell completely sucks it up Monday night? What then? I wouldn't play if I was Patrick. And putting Campbell in would go completely against what Gibbs has always said about starting a young quarterback. And what he just said today in his press conference about Brunell giving them the "best chance to win." Man, Brunell really has the pressure on him now too. He MUST perform well Monday night or you guys will be crucifying him on here about how bad he sucks and how you only want to beat the Cowboys. I am glad I am not in his shoes. Don't forget -- Patrick did throw a touchdown pass on the same drive that he got clotheslined on that was called back because of a very questionable offensive pass interference penalty. To me, he actually looked like he was beginning to get into a pretty good groove. I feel very bad for Patrick's psyche and what this does to any sort of reputation that he had. Everyone knows he is a tough, smart kid and I feel that if anyone would show confidence in him then he would succeed. Even if you are not a Ramsey fan, don't you at least have to admit that this decision should have been made weeks ago?
ntotoro
This is a loaded question that can't be accurately answered with just yes or no. He is a professional athlete who got benched, for one reason or another. He's paid handsomely for it. Stop feeling sorry for the guy. We should all be treated so "badly." illone
This is football, not boy scout camp. If Ramsey needs coddling he can call the mental abuse hotline and seek help. Boy, I sure do hope his feelings are not too hurt:rolleyes: In the meantime the football season presses on.
TheREALJBird
no he didnt deserve it at all, he didnt get any time to play and gibbs took him out, granted due to injury and i can even understand benchin him the rest of the game..but no reason to next week also, Gibbs hasn't treated Ramsey right since he became head coach

Fred Jones
I agree that it is a loaded question. I can't argue that it would have been nice for the coaching staff to make the decision earlier. The staff, however, did give him plenty of opportunities. Throughout the preseason he just didn't execute to the satisfaction of the coaches. I kept waiting for him to turn the corner and progress as a QB, but it never showed. I am still hoping that he succeeds in the NFL and wish him the best if he leaves next off-season. I hope he turns the corner, in the AFC, and progresses. He just has not yet. Looking at most of the QB's that performed well in the preseason they performed well in the preseason whether it was for a quarter or one series. As I said in another thread, I think he will get his chance as the season progresses. Brunell has 15 games left to stay on his feet.
chaz13
If the coach starts worrying about hurting guys feelings instead of who gives us the best chance to win, he won't be the coach for long. And that is in any professional sport.
RunPortisRun
Gibbs doesn't owe Ramsey anything. If coach thinks he can't do the job then he's gone...simple.
Kelvin Bryant
The core of the matter is that many of us have for decades respected Joe Gibbs as an honorable man whose word is beyond question. Now, by naming Patrick Ramsey as the starter this year, then using his injury as an excuse to make a change without giving him any sort of real opportunity, Gibbs has given us real reason to doubt that evaluation. Ramsey has been a good soldier and has said the right things, even while Brunell was consistently below 100 yards passing last year, game after game, but how can he trust Joe Gibbs now? fpickering
pitcherjlt- If you really are a friend of PR then tell him that there are many many Skins fans that are shocked and saddened by this decision. Ramsey has been professional and understanding and this is just simply not warranted. He deserved at least 3 games (and maybe 2 due to bye week) to prove himself. Sure there were early jitters and one terrible pass that resulted in an INT but he did seem to settle down and did complete 3 nice long passes in a row after that. This probably marks the end of his career as a Redskin. I see him taking some time to develop like Matt Hasselbeck in Seattle but eventually he will be an asset for some NFL team like Miami, Arizona, San Fran, Tampa Bay, Green Bay, or Cleveland. Renegade7
What treatment? Gibbs is more comfortbable with Brunell starting, so what's the problem? If Ramsey was just better this wouldn't be an issue.
pennywise
What Gibbs did is completely unfair. Pat just needs a chance (and a better supporting cast). It is really too bad, but I wish him luck.

TheDarb
Deserve? Patrick is no victim. As Tom Coughlin once said, he "shows a callous disregard for the football." He played his way out of a job. Patrick may yet become a successful starter in the NFL, but he has to learn from this experience. Good luck, Patrick. Just don't be a cry-baby. Take it like a man.
