fpickering
unreal. un-freakin-real Gibbs says Mark has been consistent.... Look, I want to win as much as the next Redskins fan but the offense and passing game in particular looked dead with #8 in the game. His stats were far from impressive. 8 for 14 for 70 yards and 0 INT 0 TD 70.5 5 rushes for -2 yards. Gibbs says that Santana had cramps in the 2nd half. I am not sure if I agree with this decision but the alternative is not that hot. Ramsey's first few passes were abysmal.
stburn
It's interesting that Gibbs held on WAY too long to his starter last season and now is pulling the plug WAY too early. I really don't care either way. I don't think Ramsey is ever going to be a Pro Bowl QB in this league. It's just interesting that Gibbs thinks so little of him. I hope he doesn't use the "no turnover" reason because Brunell got extremely lucky that his interception was called back due to a penalty.

pixA4
 Ugh. I was really, really hoping this wouldn't happen. I can only hope that MB proves me wrong and goes out there and wins some games.
DieselPwr44
Coach Gibbs, I love ya but please...enough of the coachspeak. Just tell us you don't like Pat or that he doesn't have it and quit beatin round the bush......
ColdnGrey
I really have lost my faith in this season, and sadly Joe Gibbs. I don't care how many rings he has on his fingers, to say that "we need to establish a quarterback" after yanking ramsey after 3 series rings very very hollow with me. Blondie
obviously pr strong arm. extremely hard to do this. sometimes what happens just happens...sometimes plans change....he had no intention of doing this...plans change thinks......knows......sometimes.....for me.......go back and look.......talking about mark rypien....started playing mark rypien....turn over ball 9 times in 8 games. to be truthful........rypien....when came back....both pr and mr are very smart... need to establish one and go with him most young qbs he has had setbacks and had to go back and re do? turnovers. Leonard Washington
gibbs isn't doing a good job of selling this...i would understand if brunell threw for 200yds and a td or two...:doh::doh::doh:
skinsfan83
this is good decision. no more watching pram dance around in the pocket while holding the ball in the air with one hand looking for a receiver plus brunell can actually read defenses and can scramble if needed. ramsey just looks lost out there as he did last year. Brunell 0 Ints and 0 Fumbles Lost in limited playing time game one. Pram one int and 1 fumble in limited time. Our offense is playing so terrible that we can't have our QB making mistakes like p-ram is.
MLiverpool
wow...this is surprising...i'm not sure how to feel...just surprised...i didn't think he'd bench ramsey...didn't want him to...wanted to see if he could lead this team...wow

riggins44
I like Ramsey, but I support my team and coach. Will be fully behind Brunell now. My gut tells me that Ramsey's turnovers did him in. Gibbs hates negative plays. The interceptions cost him.
KevinMac
All he wanted was an excuse to bench Pat and he got it. Give me a freaking break. His the head coach and he can do what he wants. He doesn't need to wait for "an excuse" to do any thing. He doesn't have to go to court and prove his case. If he wanted Brunell in all along, Brunell would have been in all along. End of story. herb mul-key
All about turnovers and Pat's int and fumble. Thinks Mark is more safe with the ball. Wants to teach Pat a lesson and make a statement about turnovers. Similar to what he did with Rypien.
ceviker
Guys, look at it this way: P-ram might give us the big play here or there, but he will also lose us football games with his interceptions. Mark, while he may not have that huge play, will NOT lose us the game - this is exactly what we need. We have one of the best defences and running game (portis/betts combo). All we need is a QB to control the clock and move us down field, which Mark did yesterday and in the pre-season. Our only problem was the redzone, and we just need to work on that regardless who the qb is. If we improve our redzone offense, brunell will take us to the playoffs. In any case, here's hoping we will kick the s*** out of dallas and brunell will take us to the promise land. Go 'Skins!

ntotoro
I admit I'm surprised to Patrick being benched, but kudos to Coach Gibbs to being honest about why and not saying it was the injury or whatever. I could see being concerned about him put under further damage yesterday, but it was good to be honest and basically say "we think Patrick needs work" rather than the alternative. All I care about is beating Dallas.
