Redskins.com: All Team Scores Displayed at FedExField

Seems like the feud between the Washington Post and the Redskins keeps getting nastier...I can say for the record, having been there, that the baseball scores were definitely displayed during the first half (and who gives a rats ass if they weren't?). Not sure what the Post was thinking on this one...

All Team Scores Displayed at FedExField

September 12, 2005

The Washington Post, apparently more interested in stirring false controversy where there is none than in reporting fact, erroneously stated today in an A1 story that scores from yesterday's Nationals baseball game were not posted for FedEx Field fans until 3:05 p.m.

That is not true.

"As the person responsible for getting scores on the main LED boards at FedEx Field, my staff updated all NFL and American and National league baseball scores as soon as they crossed the news wire, starting at 1 p.m. Updates were posted at least every 10 minutes," said Scott Edwards, executive producer of game day entertainment. "No teams were excluded and the sensational implication that the Nationals scores were ignored is simply not true. I can't imagine why the Post couldn't see what was there for all to see."

"As a fan of all Washington teams myself, I wish they would get it right," Edwards said.

Pretty funny.

I haven't seen the Post article that was in error, but, I can't figure out what context it would be mentioned on the front page of the newspaper. The team is just killing the Post for their foolishness. And the Post deserves it.

Man. This is so not good for Garcia right now. This & having a beat reporter doing a piece of his own personal take. Pieces like these have to go through him first, correct? He has others above him that he has answer for, doesn't he? Maybe the Nunyo problem wasn't Nunyo. Maybe it was his editor. :whoknows:

I've always thought so. The editor is ultimately responsible for the content that goes to print. There's quite a bit of work for any editor to do, and I am sure most of them don't like to second-guess their staff, but at some point you've got to wonder what's going on over at the Post.
