Tarhog
Extremeskins: Behind the Scenes at the Redskins vs. Bears (with Pre-Game and Game Photo Library Links) Celebrating the 2005 Redskins – and the next generation of die-hard Skins fans! :helmet: GAMEDAY PHOTOS Tailgate PhotosPre-Game Photos Game Photos Cheerleaders at Bears Game Photos :helmet: Post-Game Interviews & Other Audio On the field noise as players ran on the field! Talking to Taylor Jacobs after the game Talking to Santana Moss after the game Ramsey Post-game comments to the media Talking to Walt Harris after the game The mic on Eric's audio isnt working right, so he is transcribing the interviews he recorded. Phillip Daniels Post Game Interview: Q: Did the Bears OLine seem tougher this year than last year? A: They’re a little tougher when they leave everybody in (to block), you know (laughs). You gotta be tougher when you leave everybody in, but they really did a good job because that is what they have to do when you come from every direction. They did a good job of maximizing the protections, but then they didn’t have a lot of guys going out for passes either. Also, we only rushed 3 guys a lot of the time and put eight back there covering. Q: Thoughts on Kyle Orton? A: Hes gonna be ok. For a rookie, he was rattled a little bit, but hes gonna be ok. He got some things going, and in years to come he is gonna be a pretty good player. Q: Did Crowd noise play a big role near the end of the game? A: That’s our 12th man right there! They get loud like that, man, we’re gonna have a LOT of fun at FedEx! When its 3rd down, and they get loud like that it really helps us out a lot, and we really appreciate it. Q: Could you comment on the coaches putting the game on the defense to win there at the end? A: That really shows us that the coaches have confidence in his defense to go out and make it happen. Gregg Williams said, “Go get ‘em. Go end this thing.” That’s all he had to say! (laughs) We just had to go out and do what we were doing all day and end this thing right now. :helmet: Rock Cartwright Post Game Interview: Q: You feel good about your Special Teams play? A: Yea, I am just trying to go out there and contribute. I know Clinton and Ladell are the two running backs, so I gotta do what I can to make plays and get noticed. Q: You feel ready to get some more plays on offense? A: Maybe if one of the guys gets knicked up, I’ll get in there. You know Im ready if they call me. (smiles) Q: Looking forward to Dallas in Dallas? A: Oh yea! Big Game! Big Game! We need to go out and watch tape and get some things corrected. Its gonna be Monday Night football against Dallas. We’ll be real excited. Q: You know you’re a fan favorite on Extremeskins? A: Oh yea? You tell the fans that I love them too! (smiles)

Blade
Reasons to Smile Ive been giddy since getting on the airplane Saturday bound for DC. “Ive got work to do… I don’t have time to be giddy,” I keep telling myself. But I can’t help it. There is a lot to tell you guys about, and all I can do is sit and smile like a fool because of the coolness of the experience I’ve had as a guest of the Redskins at the game, so forgive me if you see a *smile* interrupt my story a few times. *Smile* Just like that. There were a lot of smile-worthy moments, despite the game being more of a nail-biter than it should have been. Walking through the South Tunnel and seeing the field through through the home-team entrance... Walking on the Field during warm-ups and looking up to see my family waving down from their seats… Jumping out of the way when an errant pass during warm-ups bounces at my feet… Hearing the roar of the crowd as the team runs out of the inflatable helmet right down the sideline (listen here)… Feeling the soundwave from the three F18s flying over during the National Anthem as Coach Musgrave stands 10 feet in front of me…. *Smile* See, I couldn’t help it… and the game had not even started yet. During the opening kickoff, I imagine that the professional photographers all lined up on the sidelines probably thought, “Who is this idiot with the cheap video recorder who keeps smiling as he apologizes for elbowing me.” Thankfully I wasn’t the only one out there smiling all the time… the Cheerleaders often stand on the same yellow line that the media stands on, and they almost never stop smiling. After being unintentionally accosted by their pompoms a few times, I stopped smiling for a moment. Pompoms can hurt! Ok, maybe I really DIDN’T stop smiling at that…. But it was certainly disconcerting having these very athletic women smiling RIGHT next to me, and knowing that I couldn’t take the time to talk to them. There were MORE important things to do than chat with smiling cheerleaders... namely, watch the Redskins and Bears play! (This comment gratuitously inserted for my wife, who is reading this over my shoulder... I love you, dear.) Heck, she already KNOWS that the Redskins are more important to me than flirting with a pretty woman. I prove that to her in person nearly every Sunday. (Wife has stopped reading now; I can get back to talking football.) *Smile* What was MOST important today was seeing how Patrick handled the Bears defense and the pressure of being ‘The Man’ this year; Seeing if the Defense was lost without Pierce and Smoot as many mediots predicted; and, of course, watching for the things that would make bobzmuda and all the rest of you craving for ‘insider stuff’ happy to read. We all saw that it didn’t take too long to see Patrick feel some of the pressure with that first interception. I couldn’t see his interaction with the WR as he came off the field, but his body language seemed to say it was his fault. But as we all know, unless you know exactly WHAT route was supposed to be run by the WR in the given situation, its hard to know if that was on him or not. As always with Pat, he doesn’t seem to let the bad plays rattle his confidence, because we had a great view of him hitting Moss perfectly in stride for that 51 yard play. He was tackled about 8 feet from where we were standing, and for a couple seconds Moss was running RIGHT at us, and I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck start to quiver as I thought, “INCOMING! TAKE COVER!” The collision between Moss and the Bear’s DB didn’t look all that fierce, but it’s LOUD when it’s right in front of you! *Smile* And the crowd noise down on the field after that play was IMPRESSIVE. The front row fans really need to pound on the padding on the walls more… its like a crew of bass drums sounding off and really can drown out the voices on the field. So, all you fans who sit near or in the DreamSeats, tell those guys in the front row to get pounding when the Defense is on the Field. When Patrick got hit and went down, it was amazing just how loud the booing was! At first, it was hard to tell if the booing was because of Patrick’s fumble or because of the cause of the fumble. That question was answered when the raucous chanting of the crowd, “You suck Ref! You suck Ref!” filled the air. Watching the players and coaches view the replay it was clear that they were PISSED at the lack of a flag on that play. I don’t know if TV showed it, but when the defense was back out on the field, you could see several of them ferociously waving their arms and yelling at the refs to look at the replay. I watched the trainers working with Patrick afterwards, first massaging and stretching his neck as he sat on the bench, then again as he was lying on the trainers table. He was clearly hurting, but soon afterwards was up with helmet on, throwing passes on the sidelines to get warmed up again. There was no haziness or lack of intensity in his eyes as he warmed up – he clearly wanted back in. For most of the game, much of the team was on the sidelines watching the game, but even more got off the bench to watch after that cheap shot on Ramsey. There is a definite team-first mentality in this year’s Redskins that warms the heart of those of us who felt that heart was lacking in many of the teams over the past decade. When the team was 4th and 1 from the Chicago 43, Marcus Washington and a few other defensive players ran on the field, expecting a punt, but were called back off. Marcus started jumping around and cheering on the offense as did several other defensive players. Once again, a reiteration of the team-first mentality that just makes me want to…. you know…. *Smile* (I’ll be updating this until its finished, so check back soon…)
PCS
*smile* Hell I'm smiling for you guys. Great experience E. . Thanks for sharing this. Great to get a fellow fans perspective of this. The saying "How cool is that?" was made for times like this, though it does understate just a tad. Look forward to more about the game. When you wake back up. * *smile*

Chris 44
Blade, I was curious as to how much player on player interaction on the side lines that you can pick up. Would be great to be a "fly on the wall" to hear those conversations. Great job yet again Bade. :helmet:

They need to play this quote over and over on the jumbotron.. Then show the replay of the 3 false starts in a row.... If that aint proof that the crowd can affect the outcome of a game.. Nothing is.. I was in RFK this weekend for the Nats/Braves game(Saw Andruw hit #47 on saturday) And the whole time I kept having daydreams about how that old place was rockin during big Skins games..I wanted to grab a yellow seat cushion and throw it! Once again you guys shine with great interviews and great stories and pics. I don't think the Redskins front office knew what they were getting into when they decided to make this the Official Message Board. You guys rock and make being a Skins fan even funner!
