2 of the worst plays and worst calls back to back - chanced the game

we are on the 6.

Ramsey is settling down. Snap, Coley comes off the left side tword the end zone.

He's running a little half moon route right to left to right. He is running inside the defender. Its the defender who moves to the possition Coley is running to. He gets to about the 1/2 yard line as he is breaking inside the defender. Its the defender sticks his left arm about and engauges Coley to keep him from going right. The both get tangled. ( You arent allowed contact after 5 yards ) Once he gets to his mark, he doubles back away from the defender. Catch TD.

The defender is running off the field excepting that he just got burned.

Its should have been a Penalty on the D and a TD but they blow the call.

Pat would have been off the field. but no, next play. BUT NO

Ramsey dropped back, Jansen has 2 people to block but blocks neither. As the defender is getting past his inside, he gets a piece of him knocking him tword Ramsey, while he is in the air. So I dont blame the defender for being in a wierd possition going tword Ramsey, but this is what I do blame him for.

His arm is extended out, again.. thats fine, but when he makes contact with Ramsey his arm is coming across Ramsys neck, not his chest. He needs to let Ramsey go. Its a head shot to a QB. That illegal.

But instead of pulling back, he does the opposite, he actually closes he arm putting Ramsey into a headlock while he is flying threw the air. So all the force of his 230 ? lbs gets turned into a clothesline. This is why they fake it in the WWF. Man that must have hurt.

I wouldnt be surprised if that played gets fined 20-30,000 dollars.

Add the blown call on the catch and fumble, and its the same old same old.

The refs suck.

Good post and I agree. I don't think Lance meant to go for the clothesline, probably wanted to go lower on the pad shelf but when push came to a shove he went the cheap route and for the injury.

I was fervently hoping someone would chop block him later in the game. Sorry, one good turn deserves another.

The rules protect the QB from blows to the head. He hit him in the neck. It was an aggressive, brutal, harsh but legal hit. When "being mean and aggressive" is a penalty, the NFL will be boring.

They didn't call it because they thought Ramsey was hit in the chest. As soon as they view the replay this week, a fine will be passed out - it's not legal to take down a QB that way. Horse collar, clothes line, whatever...it's all illegal.

You're right. It DOES seem to only happen to us. But I think such things should be handled the way they are in hockey. "You cheap shot our star goal scorer, we'll cheap shot yours." Same thing in baseball, kinda. "You plunk my guy, I plunk yours."

Uh NO, The Clothesline is an illegal hit, and any hit "above the shoulders" is considered a head shot.... it was a cheap shot, "illegal" hit, that clearly was missed by the refs

Hey, we finally agree on something Hands!

Clothesline hits are illegal. That's all there is too it. They banned them for a reason. It is below cheap to go for the weakest and most fragile part of the human body, the neck in order to make a tackle. it's dangerous and players careers have ended over less.

Besides thinking that defensive guy should be fined....how about fining that team of refs or the ones close to that play? I am so tired of the bad calls, or non-calls that always seem to go against us. (other games as well, not solely against us) And the refs are never accountable for changing the outcome of some games. Its sad to think if that was Payton Manning or some other QB golden boy and we did that take down....we would have for sure caught h*ll for that, penalties, fines, the whole kit and kaboodle.

And I dont want to hear that the Redskins received an apology letter for that mess. That letter doesnt mean anything nore will it change anything. We've gotten too many "Dear Danny" letters in the past....Poor Patrick, I hope he's ok.

Are you saying the he didn't hit his facemask? He definitely hit him in that region, which is illegal.I don't believe I have seen a hit against a qb anywhere near that bad not called.

My thoughts exactly, if that was Manning, McNabb, or Brady, the yellow flag would have come flying out.

The fact that it was on the heels of Cooleys play, HOW CAN THE REFS JUSTIFY THIS?

That hit could have ended Ramsey's career. The league better come out with a fine.

If Taylor would have done that, he would have been kicked out of the game, and suspended.

When I replayed that it looks like Cooley pushed off with his left hand to get separation at the goal line. The refs probably saw that but not the initial contact by the defender. Cooley's push was more noticable than the defenders contact, which could be construed as both of them going for the ball. Take another look. I didn't like the call, but there was some basis for it.

I was thinking, only with the Redskins could 90,000+ people see a penalty but no refs. I mean ESPN is saying the league office will probably fine Briggs but obviously its not a penalty. The QB controversy will ruin the whole season very soon. Brunell completed over 50% of his passes and didn't get picked. Is that supposed to make me happy, I mean let Ramsey play at least 8 more games then if he sucks then its Campbell's turn not Brunell's.

If we had lost, or Ramsey had gotten seriously hurt, I would've been p1ssed. I don't really care if the guy is fined or not, it's over now and we got the last laugh by getting the W. Hopefully Ramsey will be ready to go Monday night. At least it showed us that Brunell is not going to come in a give us much better results than we'll get with Patrick.
