Traffic Question

I'm coming from Richmond, VA. I'm planning on leaving really early (6 - 630am) and taking 95N to 495 TO the game. What is the traffic like early?

Heading out, I'm thinking about taking 214 over to 301 S. What is the traffic like on 301 after games?

Thanx in advance.

Once you clear the beltway on 214 toward 301, traffic really isn't that bad. If it doesn't take you too far out of the way, 301 South would be a good alternative. It's 495/95 S that's really horrible.

Gates open at 10, 3 hours before kickoff....also you gotta realize that there is going to be a Nationals Game, first pitch is scheduled for 1:05, if i am not mistaken. I dont think that it will effect it TOO much, because a lot of people will be taking the metro to get to RFK. The only advice i have is to be careful around the springfield interchange, it can be a bear, trust me i live about 5 min from it!

I drive up from Chesterfield - Hull St near Woodlake. If you are leaving that early, you will be fine. The traffic home can be a real bear - especially the 1PM games. It seems like you have the normal traffic plus the game traffic. Last year, after the T.B. game - I didn't make it back until almost 10PM. That was before they changed the traffic patterns leaving the stadium.

To The Other Gardner - Where in Springfield? I grew up right around the corner from what used to be Edsall Park Elem.

how do the DTC get there at 6am?

i agree with most...traffic up there isn't going to be too bad. it seems most people are coming from the north (at those are the people who are bumper to bumper for a mile or so). when the game's over its like a friday evening or monday morning with accidents on both shoulders (other words, congested). i would suggest driving to the cap center and get something to eat, cruise the stores, or catch a movie instead of battling traffic till you get to fredricksburg.
