NewGibbsEra
I was listening to sportstalk980 this morning, the Tony Kornheiser show. Not a HUGE fan of Tony but i do think he is funny in some ways. Now having said that, I dont think he in ANY way favors the skins nor does he think highly of the skins. Infact, i usually hear him kinda making jokes out of the skins. But as I listen this morning, this is what he says.... "Mark my words, the Chicago Bears WILL NOT score a single point this weekend at FedEx." Tony's Assistant : "Tune in following the game for the post game show of the shutout. Featuring KATHY ORTON" :notworthy Oh man this made my day!!!
G-Prime
lol that was pretty dang good.. For him to say that about the skins is kinda weird but in a cool way.
Walking Deadman
Tony's support scares me......remember he is a BIG, HUGE backer of Steve Spurrier.
Bigredskin77
I hope he is right, really do. This like a practice game but it actually counts. Its like when college teams play some very weak time in the beggining of the season. Sort of like a tune up game. After halftime Orton Will not want to return to the game. G-Prime
There was a lot of fans excited about Spurrier as well. Believing thoroughly that he'd use the Redskins to revolutionize the game.

KSUskinfan
For real? He was obviously DEAD wrong about Spurrier. Is he trying to jinx us in the Bears game? If he's right, I'll buy every Redskins and Bears fan in the bar on Sunday a pint. (That'll be maybe 2 people, myself included...) :logo:
NewGibbsEra
Tony's support scares me......remember he is a BIG, HUGE backer of Steve Spurrier. LOL no doubt about that... he really was. But let me remind all of you'll that he wasnt neccesarily saying "the skins are that good". Just saying that the BEARS stink and this game should be a gift from heaven to the skins. Let me quote him 1 more time.... "The bears without question, are the worst team in the nfl." But seriously... that kathy orton line was SPECTACULAR! NewGibbsEra
Also, they mentioned how Portis was saying that the Broncos didnt put on pads till Sunday, whereas here they put on pads 3 times b4 sunday to hit. Just gives me a better understanding now why the broncos seem like a talented, but weak team.

Wow, I just don't see the Bears as a team that is that bad......granted, their O is in turmoil (rookie QB, top RB misses training camp) and has to rely on Jones (not a bad RB, but not a "superstar") to get the job done. Their D looks good. Got to think the Browns and the 49ers are worse teams than the Bears.

Okay, you are not that much better than the Bears. It's not a "Tune up game". If the Dolphins last year can beat the Patriots, no game in the NFL is a "tune up game", ever. 0mega
No way the Bears are the worst team in the league. When you have a defense like theirs, you're usually in the game.

If the Dolphins last year can beat the Patriots, no game in the NFL is a "tune up game", ever. Agreed. There is no such thing as a 'tune up game' in the NFL. We ARE 6 point favorites, though, and that's fairly substantial. Redskin fans don't set the line. It's not ALL in our head. Being so heavily favored scares me, to be honest. We are not in a position to take anyone lightly.
Henry
No way the Bears are the worst team in the league. When you have a defense like theirs, you're usually in the game. A defense like the one that was 21st in the league last year? I don't think the Bears are the worst team in the league, but I don't get where all this love is coming from for that defense. G-Prime
There's that pesky misconception about the Bears D again =(
NewGibbsEra
BY far CHICAGO's D is waayyy overrated. I mean, they are not BAD, but IMO they are very overrated. People are saying Portis will have a bad game against a tough CHI D.... but what happened last year? Also, no game is tune-up for anybody, but this probably is one game that i would put my money on for the skins to win for the season.
Walking Deadman
I think Portis will have a great game on Sunday (116 yds, 2TDs)-- plus Betts will get some carries. I was impressed by how the Bears D played (1st team) vs the Bills and the Browns, but again it was preseason.
budski
I like Tony K. Wish I could have heard him say that. He probably rambled for 5 minutes about the skins defense in Ortons face.
bulldog
Lovie Smith has problems on offense and he knows it. He has to pump up Orton and Benson but to tell the truth even if both rookies had taken ALL the snaps in camp and the preseason they would STILL have a transition to live competition once the NFL season starts The fact each player has gotten little work doesn't bode well for coming out and facing what in my mind is the second best DC in the NFL. Gregg Williams is just a half step behind Bill Bellichick as a defensive mind and I don't see Orton and Co. overcoming this staff, not with the amount of time we have had to prepare........ Funkyalligator
I certainly wouldn't call the bears the worst team in the NFL....I'd say bottom third....probably bottom 6 or so....

Chris 44
As Bulldog pointed out Williams has had a lot of time to prepare for the Bears offense. I can't imagine Orton being prepared for this. If it was at the mid point in the season where he was able to gain some experience, but not game one.
