It's still early...but who else is scared?

I, for one, am not ashamed to admit I am TERRIFIED about Sunday. I have NO IDEA what will happen, don't know which team will show up, and we definitely are not in a position to overlook the Bears and thump our chests and scream from the rooftops about how this game is a given.

I will be in FedEx, properly lubricated, screaming my brains out in the upper deck, but I am flat out scared, folks.

We SHOULD win, but should, and actually winning, are night and day, my friends. See the past 12 years or so.

Feel free to try to convince me, but I think I will wait until roughly 4 pm or so to try to breathe easy.

My stomach is not being nice to me.

If we lose to the freaking Bears, its going to be an extremley long year....so we wont. Seriously, the only team that can beat the Washington Redskisn this sunday, is the Washington Redskins. It's friggin opening day. If you cant get jakked up and ready to play for that, get out of the NFL.

We have won our last 4 home openers. I fear the letdown too but I am sure that every teams fans are scared of losing their openers. It's only natural...

Well, maybe I should clarify....I am scared to death EVERY week! Just because we have won our last 4 home openers means Jack Schitt this year, as far as I am concerned....

The way i look at it is this, we have a struggling team, coming into OUR house for OPENING day. Not only that but we will have 90000 screaming fans there, and i doubt there will be many bears fans runnin around fedex this weekend. We have a SOLID defense, we have an improving offense. I will be there, screaming my head off for all 4 quarters. Everyone has first game Jitters, i feel like a kid the week before christmas right now!!

I feel pretty good about this season.

You know the o-line is better

you know the offensive plays will be better

you know the defense will be stout

our best kicker is healthy again

clock management can only improve from last year

ST's should be better

overall health of the team is better

we still finished 7-9 last year

even after being hosed on game-turning plays in 2 separate games

Keep the faith !

HTTR.

With respect to everyone that has posted in this thread, there will be nothing close about this game. This sunday it will be a dismanteling of the Bears and it is a fact. The Skins are extremely focused on the task at hand and will dominate this weekend.

Ramsey 19/26 312y 2 TD 0 Int

Portis 24 150 2 TD

and the D is allowing the Bears no TDs and we will have flashbacks of the Capital Deffense!!

Hail to the Redskins !!

Oh, my Lord, I wish I shared your optimism! Monday morning, should it happen, I will be right there with you!

But I am still worried.

I dont really think it is optimism and by no means am i the type of guy that makes crazy predictions. The only other time i have had a feeling like this was when we opened up against the Cowboys in the infamous Cramp game. I had a feeling we would stomp the Cowboys and i think it was 35 -7 at the half and had it not been for poor conditioning we would have hung on to victory.

We still have not seen all of the offensive componets put together yet nor how Gibbs plans to string plays together. What we have seen through preseason is the team working on certain aspects of the offense and it was something different each game.

The strength of the bears defense is its D-line and im sorry but i am confident after watching our o-line dominate the line of scrimmage against three great deffensive fronts in the Ravens, Panthers, And Pittsburgh that we will handle the bears.

our o-line will handle chicago's d-line and be active in getting a hat on the LB which is a weakness for Urlacher and Briggs . Soon after the Lbs for chicago are going to try and guess which hole we are going for and over anticipate which is going to leave a ton of cutback options open for Clinton.

Azumah has a bad hip and is hovering between QUestionable and doubtfull for the game but will start and there is no way he is staying with Patten or Moss with a bad hip. Charles Tillman is iffy cause we really dont know about him he had a ok Rookie year and was out for alot of time last year so no comment on him.

I am not "scared" per se, but I do have anticipation. Let me put it this way, I slept a total of about 3.5 hours last season on Saturday night before opening day, so with my expectations higher, I bet I get even less sleep. Of course after the game the beer, and the adrenaline goes away, I will be napping until work the next day, lol.

One thing you won't have to worry about is this team quitting. They proved last year they just keep on going no matter the adversity. And this year there's no brashness and bravado of the previous years just a lot of talk about teamwork and family. That bodes well for the long term. I think avoiding penalties, fumbles, overcoming interceptions :) and causing bears mistakes is the key to winning.

Year after year in the recent past we've always "won" the off-season with flashy moves and big signings. This year, eveyone says we've tanked, gone backwards, fallen apart. They're picking us to go 4-12, to collapse, to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

I for one feel better this year than I have in a long time. We know nothing is going to be handed to us, that nothing will come easy, that we'll have to fight for everything we get. This team is going to fight its guts out. They are going to leave it all on the field. But we don't know how they're going to do. There's only one place that will be decided: on the field.

I'm nervous, I've got butterflies, lord knows I can barley do any work...but I am not scared. Joe Gibbs is our coach, and we are the Washington Redskins. Redemption is coming.
