TO wants dance suggestions for TDs Monday night...

2004 was a great year for T.O. He scored fourteen touchdowns and had the fans excited every time he stepped on the field. Almost as exciting were the post TD celebrations that only T.O. could pull off. Who could forget the Bird, the Sit-ups, the ice skating, the salute to honor the troops over seas and of course the Ray Lewis dance.

This year you can count on many more touchdowns and many more celebrations. T.O. wants his fans to decide what his first celebration will be in the opener in Atlanta, and the winning suggestion will get a signed jersey from the NIKE commercial with Michael Vick. The rules are simple, suggest a TD celebration and if T.O. picks your suggestion, you win. You may enter one (and only one) suggestion. Make it fun and creative, and good luck to everyone.

We will announce the winner on Terrellowens.com home page and Message board

I'm having trouble suppressing my laugh...ba...baa...bwwaahahhahhha....

No, sorry...he's a great football player...team guy...ba..baa.....

Edit: Fellas, I don't make this stuff up...

Just an FYI.......ever sine he has been an Eagle, he has asked for the fans to come up with ideas for his endzone dances. Hopefully "we" can help him come up with about 20 + dances. I personally would love to see him do the "Cabbage Patch" dance against the Skins at Fed Ex. If my memory serves me, Ricky Sanders was the first to do.......and he did it against us!

I think he should do the dance Andy Reid approves...oh, yeah...Andy probably would prefer TO not to dance or showboat...oh, well...gotta live with the players the FO gives ya....

could you reach anymore ? There is a running joke in Philly.... Andy gets asked all the time about the TD dances, McNAbbs, T.O.'s, hell even Bartrums long snap... and he (Andy) chuckles and says he didn't see them so he has no problem....

But hey, don't let reality get in the way of your hate.

btw, do you think Gibbs minded the fun bunch ? Oh, but let me guess, that was different b/c it was a team celebration.

Do you have proof? Seems that Andy didn't have a problem wit his "showboating" last year in fact Reid went on record to say that TO added a "swagger that the team was missing." Reid has never said anything about Owens dancing, actually he stated that as long as it isn't disrespectful to the organization, that he "welcomes that part of his game".

So please explain to me how Reid prefers Owens not dancing, when i just stated and explained to you how he does?

Tick.....tock.....tick.....tock......

All eyes on Terrell Owens

By Jamie Raub, Sports Reporter, The Keystone

Terrell Owens has attracted all kinds of attention on and off the field throughout his career.

As any other football-loving Pennsylvanian did this last Sunday, I tuned in to the Eagles/Steelers cross-state rivalry game. Watching the then-undefeated Eagles get humiliated by Pittsburgh’s rookie quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, and a “Bus” thought to be broken down taking one good drive through the Eagles’ defensive line was bad enough. Then I had to watch the circus that unfolded in the end zones and on the sidelines, which had me looking for the remote early and often in the third quarter.

The millions who tuned in to see what antics would unfold in the end zone saw Hines Ward dishing out some half-hearted Terrell Owens-esque antics of his own. He fired back, while a dejected Owens could only sit grimacing on the bench.

When is enough going to be enough?

Owens, probably the best player to ever come through Philadelphia and a serious league MVP contender, is also one of the worst moves in terms of media relations. Week after week, the focus is shifting from how the Eagles play to what dance he is doing in the endzone. His verbal sparring in pre- and post-game interviews with opposing players—though admittedly creative and enjoyable—are also becoming the center of attention.

We can all say that we enjoyed the Sharpie being pulled from his sock to sign the football and shaking the pom-poms with the cheerleaders in San Francisco—even ripping down the “Take’s One to Know One” sign—a sign referring to comments made about Browns’ quarterback Jeff Garcia, a former teammate of Owens with the 49ers—was a little humorous.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid prefers to downplay Owens’ antics, even though he’s admitted to private arguments with Owens about his on-field version of Soul Train. T.O. has caused the team penalty yards, 15 at a time, on several occasions for his end zone celebrations, which break the excessive celebration rule.

Quarterback Donovan McNabb denies T.O. is a loose cannon after Owens was spotted barking at him on the sideline after McNabb didn’t get him the ball against Pittsburgh. It seems being creative has always been OK for Owens, as long as he has had the numbers to back it up.

And if that wasn’t enough, T.O. has taken his “creative expressions” to a personal level. Two weeks ago, he imitated Ray Lewis’ celebration and made ill remarks about his legal troubles in the press conference afterwards. “You have a guy like Ray Lewis, who I thought he was pretty much my friend. This is a guy, double murder case, and he could have been in jail, but it seems like the league embraces a guy like that. But I’m going out scoring touchdowns and having fun, but I’m the bad guy,” stated Owens in post-game interviews following the Ravens game.

T.O.’s antics have been generally well received and seen as a way to relieve some of the pressure from the other players and coaches in the Philly organization. But his actions as of late can only be seen as a way to tarnish the image of a team Coach Reid and the rest of the Eagles’ management have worked hard to promote. The Eagles have been regarded as the clean-cut, team next door - the working man’s team. T.O.’s flair clashes with the personae of the hard-working aspect of the Eagles organization, and it only seems like a matter of time before something blows up as it did in San Francisco.

Seeing a different side of Owens has been a rude awakening for Philly fans. Their golden boy didn’t get over 100 yards against Pittsburgh, didn’t dance his way into the end zone, or in it. After the game, normally outspoken Owens had only apologies for Ray Lewis and “cover your butt” statements for the week before. Is this what’s going to happen when T.O. has a bad game? He’ll blame everyone but himself.

It’s going to be an awfully long season if I have to spend each Sunday watching replays of end zone dances and press coverage of responses to them. End zone dances and sack celebrations aren’t what the game is about, so let’s shift the focus back to what it is all about: putting points on the board and winning championships.

One....this article was written over 1 year ago by a college student reporting for his college newspaper. Without a quote from Reid, or anyone else in the organization, this article has a tone of more opinionated rather than actualy facts.

Several examples of the "opinion vs the facts" are as follows...

". But his actions as of late can only be seen as a way to tarnish the image of a team Coach Reid and the rest of the Eagles’ management have worked hard to promote. The Eagles have been regarded as the clean-cut, team next door - the working man’s team. T.O.’s flair clashes with the personae of the hard-working aspect of the Eagles organization, and it only seems like a matter of time before something blows up as it did in San Francisco.".....this is an opinion clearly. I should know, I was a journalism minor at West Chester University. That is called "Persuasive Writing".

"Eagles head coach Andy Reid prefers to downplay Owens’ antics, even though he’s admitted to private arguments with Owens about his on-field version of Soul Train. T.O. has caused the team penalty yards, 15 at a time, on several occasions for his end zone celebrations, which break the excessive celebration rule.".....to whom has Reid admitted this to? Even if the writer had written "An un-named source" would have been better, but to state that Reid admitted something, yet there is no one mentioned as to whom he admits this to isn't credible at all.

I will admit that for a college student, it is a well written piece. To bad that it doesn't move me nor does it defend you statement about Reid having a problem with Owens celebrations.

That article has factual mistakes. The Eagles have not been penalized several times for Owens celebrations. You would think he would have been able to find a quote from Reid if such a statement was ever made.

I was gonna say.. When did that happen... The closist I remember was when he pulled down the sign vs. the browns and a flag was thrown for something else, and for a moment it looked like it could have been for that. However it was just a flag against Cleaveland. Tr1, thanks for showing your vast knowledge again.

The only time I can recall a Reid ***QUOTE*** reguarding the celebrations, he said he liked the pom poms.

p.s. I think the funnier thing is that the prize is a jersey from a commercial featuring vick for the best td celebration against the falcons.

Tr1, I think maybe a better argument is that TO is cunningly trying to make fun of Vick because he has no resepect for him and blah blah blah.

Are you telling me you haven't heard about Reid talking about sideline antics? TO hasn't been the reason for celebration penalties? If not, I stand corrected.

I could have sworn that several of us have already told you that it's a running joke in Philly. At every post game press conf. the ask Andy about the celebrations and answers w/ a wry smile that he *ahem* didn't see them, so he has no comment.

So it's okay with Reid if TO dances and gets a penalty? I guess so, Reid is a religous man and must see the wisdom of this statement...

Eagles receiver Terrell Owens went a step further, comparing Horn to another civil rights pioneer, Jesus Christ.

“I just saw The Passion of the Christ, and there are a lot of parallels between what happened to Jesus and what’s happening to NFL receivers,” said Owens, during a guest appearance on Best Damn Sports Show Period. “Jesus upset the Romans with his controversial words, and they tried to censor him. Now the NFL rules committee is upset with us for shaking up the status quo and daring to express ourselves in the face of persecution. The 15-yard penalty is a modern day version of the savage beatings Christ endured at the hands of his tormentors. By standing up to the NFL despite the repercussions, Joe Horn is truly Christ-like.”

Where is that ignore feature ? You are completely not capable of just talking football.

Have fun w/ your war agains T.O., I'm done.

By the way, nice source you found there buddy. I'm amazed you didn't include these gems from that peice that I'm sure is dead on accurate...

Horn also gave a sneak preview of next year’s end zone celebrations. He hinted that one would involve a goat, a unicycle, three midgets, and a giant placard reading “**** you, Commissioner Tagliabue.”

“I don’t want to get into it totally, but I’ve got a groundbreaking touchdown celebration in the works. It’s going to make all previous celebrations look like worthless ****. I dare them to give my team a fifteen-yard penalty. I dare them. Actually, I hope they give me a thirty-yard penalty. I hope they make us forfeit the game. That’s how much I’m willing to sacrifice in my noble battle against censorship, and entertain America with my creative celebratory gestures.”

Here's some ideas....

The Ron Mexico/Valtrex dance in honor of Vick (TO's new favorite QB)

or even better, shock em' all and give the football back to the refs and play the game....honestly I think most fans would like that.

Do you think he won't do something to make fun of either Mcnabb or Reid during the season, be ready Eagles fans.....TO is going to remain a big pain in Andy Reid's backside whether you win or not.

Now THAT is one ironic comeback. Yeah, let's talk football in a thread about TO's END ZONE DANCES.

That gets to the heart of the problem I see with TO's celebrations. It gets to be less about football, or the team, and more about him.

I have a suggested dance for TO: Shuffle off.

Dan T and goskins.... 2 words for you. Fun Bunch.

But yeah, it isn't the same, right ?

Since you asked, I would say no, it's not the same. The Fun Bunch celebrated as a unit, and celebrated regardless of who scored the touchdown. So it wasn't done to call attention to any one individual. And they didn't try to make their celebration a story during the week by soliciting suggestions from fans. So, no, it isn't the same.

I have one word for you, one that Terrell Owens knows all too well, to the detriment of any TEAM he plays for. "ME." He can't seem to sublimate his egotistical impulses for the better good of whatever team he's playing for. At least that's the impression that I get.
