bulldog
I didn't see this posted anywhere else, but Newberry was signed to the Patriots practice squad. Bellichick seems to be really watching the Redskins cut lists. Chad Morton, Zeron Flemister, etc.... One thing........they don't seem to stick around very long up there
Die Hard
Bulldog... you're a great poster... but since when do YOU break news? Old news buddy It's been discussed in at least 5-6 threads.
ratbert_rizzo
But why didn't the Skins put Newberry on our practice squad? Was he that bad?
redman
Our deepest position this preseason by far was LB. That also happens to be where our rookies showed the least, with our two picks being cut (one being resigned to the Practice Squad) and our UDFA making it as the last LB on the roster. Newberry didn't shine, so he didn't make the team. As a young, athletic guy like Newberry, it's not surprising that a team whose base set uses 4 LB's and who lost two starters (Bruschi and Johnson) would want to take a flier on him. ntotoro
But why didn't the Skins put Newberry on our practice squad? I think they used the LB spot with McCune. Maybe one other... ? I'll have to dig up that thread. Now that he's with the Pats, expect this guy to be a "we'd have been in the SB if not for getting rid of Newberry" threads...
