ArmchairRedskin
by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com Monday, September 5, 2005 http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=fanball-bearsbensonwillplayi&prov=fanball&type=lgns News Rookie running back Cedric Benson will suit up and play in the Bears season opener against the Redskins, according to the Chicago Tribune. Thomas Jones remains the starter for week one, but competition for the starting job going forward will begin in practice this week. Views We're anxious to get a look at Benson, but fantasy owners have to be patient. If you have options that will carry the load, sit Cedric and use the back who will see 15-20 carries. SkinsForLife260
Of course they need a rookie to start. The fans need something to be excited about.
bulldog
Smith and the Bears are desperate. They know they are in trouble at quarterback and are looking for a spark elsewhere to get them going. Either way, a guy that is out of shape and doesn't know the playbook isn't going to excel against Gregg Williams & Co.
RedskinzOwnU
seriously, if we don't win by at least 17-21 points, we're in for falsely heightened expectations win like the bucs game.

KingGibbs
seriously, if we don't win by at least 17-21 points, we're in for falsely heightened expectations win like the bucs game. Do people forget that the Bears have a good defense? To win by 17-21 would be great, but our offense is a mystery.
Blondie
Last Week Benson Post As was stated last week, they will use him in a limited role. I don't see him making a major statement against our defense. He is a good athlete......and I believe he will turn into a major contributor for the Bears. Just not against us.......next week. bulldog
What the Bears have is a front seven with good athleticism and pursuit. What they don't have IMO are cornerbacks that are going to shut down our outside receivers. I think the Redskins ARE going to make some big plays on this defense. Epistopheles
Regardless of what losses the Bears have sustained to their offense, or the lack fo development of Benson so far, they have a good D that is going to be a good test for our O. Bat~man
well that cut chad hutchinson and he beat us a few times when he was a cowboys starter , i know we are a better team now but anything can happen and i dont wanna jump the gun

They've got a good defense, yes, but we've got a great defense. We shouldnt give up more than 7 or 10 points the whole game to their offense given its condition. I would hope that we can put up over 20 points on the bears. Any good team could.
SkinsTillIDie
Benson won't be used in a third-down back role, as he won't know how to pick up the Skins blitzes and doesn't know the playbook well enough. He'll probably get roughly 10 carries, in situations of 3rd and short or at the goalline (if they get there). I don't really see him being a big factor in the game, especially as we were the #1 run stuffing team in the league... I'm much more worried about their defense

Joncevensen
benson wont get the full load of carries, his not in shape, and worst of all, i doubt he can take a full games worth of hits, especially from lavar and taylor

Um, don't just do it because I say so, but you may seriously want to consider starting Portis. I mean, get a second opinion and all, but at least give it a thought.

Not to worry, my friend. Mr. Portis will earn you enough points to remain competitive in your head-to-head. :point2sky .
jaydean
actually, we have to run two running backs in our league, and i'm really hoping that portis has enough points to cover both of them. i'm sure he will!!!
Kosher Ham
What made you draft a Rookie RB ? Anyway try to get someone like Blaylock (Jets) who may be overlooked. Or even Jacobs (Giants).
