bulldog
we thought Antonio Brown was not only going to be the PR/KR but also might be a surprise contributor at WR. instead he had a poor game receiving and didn't distinguish himself on returns either. we thought Jim Molinaro would be ready to step up and fill-in in case we lost a starting tackle for at least a couple of games. Instead he got schooled by an even younger and less experienced player for the Ravens. Rufus Brown's performance in the fourth quarter was perhaps the worst I have seen for a Redskin since Ade Jimoh was a rookie. And Brown had no excuse like Carlos Rogers that he was coming off an injury that compromised his conditioning. Wilds and Jimoh didn't distinguish themselves either so it appears to be a pea soup after Springs, Harris and Rogers. Don't be surprised to see the Redskins pick up a veteran corner once the final cuts are made Kevin Dyson has been a complete mystery to me. The guy is a veteran and at some point you would have thought the staff would have put him in there with the first or second teamers to see what he has to offer. Instead he has been coming in very late, when the THIRD team offense is playing. Is that a sign of how far he has fallen after the various injury problems he has had? I can't see him making this team based on what he produced in the preseason, but then again you have to balance that against what Antonio Brown and Taylor Jacobs didn't do either All in all, the backup players in Baltimore didn't do much to help the Redskins staff sort through those final positions on the club. inmate running the asylum
All in all, the backup players in Baltimore didn't do much to help the Redskins staff sort through those final positions on the club. Well I thought that Khary Campbell had a good game and solidified his hold on a roster spot. Groom also had three good punts and a good hold, so maybe he made the team. And Jimmy Farris had a good game and with his special teams play, might win a roster spot.
Goaldeje
I actually thought Wilds played very well. He got beat on a touchdown pass, but it was excellent coverage, against a much taller receiver. I will be suprised if we cut Wilds.
bulldog
From what we had seen and heard from the media reports and team sources, nobody put Jimmy Farris on the map to be a contributor in the mold of what was expected from Antonio Brown and his 'speed' factor. If the upshot of the Baltimore game is that we find a capable possession receiver in Farris who at 25 has hung around as a bubble NFLer for 2-3 years to be the #5, then that is a small victory. The 'big' victory would have been seeing Brown set us up for good field position with breaking returns and occasionally chipping in with the down the field stretch reception using his sub 4.2 speed So, yes there were some players that stepped up like Farris in Baltimore. But I have questions about the potential upsides of these players. They might not have the overall physical talent to ever be better than the #5 receiver or #9 DL.
