Drunken Master III
I hope he stays around and becomes our Head Coach. What do you guys think?
sacmaster
Hell Yes. In my perfect world Mr. Williams is Mr. Synder's next choice for head coach. Joe Gibbs will more than gladly leave the Redskins in his hands to carry on the tradition. I think Joe will move upstairs to management and resume his racing endeavors. themurf
I've been telling anyone who will listen that I honestly believe Gregg Williams will take over once Joe Gibbs hangs them up (whenever that is). I was glad to hear the announcers say that last night, because that's the first tiem I'd actually heard anyone else say it too. Let's hope this rumor picks up some steam. sumodat
Me too, but I don't see how that would happen. I would like Snyder to call him in and tell him he will succeed Gibbs, if he wants. Tell him he will keep him happy financially. Keep his pay in line with HC's. I would love for him to be our next HC. I just don't see how it would happen. I would imagine if he has another season like last, and it looks like he might, that teams will be knocking his door down. He has HC experience, and he has proven he can turn defenses around. We are the third defense he has had in the top ten. He is an awesome coach!

MarkMayKosty
I have a buddy who is a Pats fan and every email he sends to me lately, he says that Gibbs is gone by the 10th game this year and that Williams takes over after that. I don't know about the 10th game part, but I would not mind seeing Williams follow Joe on the sidelines.

Drunken Master III
I say pay him like he's a head coach. You have to keep this guy.
Posse81
I hope this happens. Hopefully next season. Well, I'd still rather have Gibbs. But I do hope Gregg is our next coach and he can keep some people to keep Gibbs system on offense in place. But I think Williams will be a head coach somewhere next season. Bucaro
That would be the ideal. Gibbs works this season and next, hands over the reigns (and a Superbowl trophy or two) to GW for the future.
Xameil
How short our memories are.... He's a great defensive coach. He's tried the Head Coach thing, and he's back to Defense...tell ya something? I actually stated this last year to a few friends about him being the next HC when Gibbs decides to hang it up...(hopefully not too soon). They laughed, and the Buffalo fan said.."Good Luck." Under Gibbs I think he'll learn alot, and maybe he is being groomed to be the next head coach. :gaintsuck

Xameil
It certainly looks like that's going to happen. I don't think The Dan will let him leave...as stated before...no salary cap on coaches.

Heavy Jumbo
And hopefully we'll all have learned how to spell his name by then too: GREGG Williams
TheGreek1973
Perfect scenario would be the following. While Gibbs is addressing the fans after his 4th SB victory he says its time for him to step out of coaching once again but will be with the skins managment knowing full well that the HCoaching position will be in the very good hands of Gregg Williams. Then Williams steps up to the podium and thanks Gibbs for the kind words and adds I will be honored to have Greg Blanche to be our DC....life is good. redskin-one
Coach Williams is definitely a great defensive coach, but he was a disaster as a headcoach in Buffalo. You have to stop and think why? Was it the ownership in Buffalo? Not all great assistant coaches make great headcoaches. I would like to know why Buffalo didn't work out for him before we annoint him. If the defense remains top 5, he deserves another shot at headcoach (hopefully here after Gibbs win another SB). :logo:
terpfan
I think he would be a good HC, we would just have to get him a good offensive coordinator...

TD_washingtonredskins
A lot of people do believe that him and Coach Gibbs had a hand shake agreement when he was hire as Assistant Head Coach - Defense I would love if that were the case. Imagine the stability that would be for this team....going from a new staff every year or two to pretty much the same staff for several years! CEJ2200
I hope he stays around and becomes our Head Coach. What do you guys think? Just so long as he isn't the next Richie P. I loved his defenses, but good grief... I think Williams will wait another year- if he stays any longer, they must be telling him "he's the guy". stwasm
I heard the rumor that part of his agreement to coach the defense was that he'd be Gibbs' successor once he stepped down from the position. Of course that violates the spirit of the Rooney Rule.
