Kyle got to play with the 1st String Offense against 2nd/3rd/never to be seen again players in the last game... and did REAAAALY good..

I'm not saying he wont do well against the skins or any other team but lets try and keep the stats right and the reports as accurate as possible.

Did he play against Baltimores 1st string?

Did he play against the Steelers 1st string?

DId he play against the Redskins 1st string (dont hit me practices)?

nope..

He played against his own team which like our team gets no respect from SI:

Bears players were more astonished and bemused than angry when informed that they had been ranked as the worst team in the NFL by Sports Illustrated.

Orton is in deep deep deep trouble.

Just a little note to Orton, last season Brett Favre, Duante Culpepper and I believe Donovan McNabb all said that our D was the toughest they faced.

If 3 Pro Bowl QBs found it difficult to decifer Williams' D, how the hell can Orton be expected to even come close.......in his first game......ever?

Kyle, I'd like for you to meet Mr. Arrington. Mr. Arrington, Kyle. Oh, and Kyle, please meet Mr. Washington. Mr. Washington, welcome Kyle to the NFL. Oh yes, Kyle, can you also say hello to Mr. Griffin and Mr. Daniels, and maybe even Mr. Taylor. They're all such nice men! Oh, you know, Kyle, you might even get to receive a greeting from Mr. Rogers. It is going to be such a beautiful day in the neighborhood, Kyle. Don't you think?

Orton did get to play one series against Buffalo's starting unit in their last game. 3 and out with two incompletes.

Keep in mind however that some of the people discounting Orton's performance because it is against 2nd and 3rd teamers are also calling for Brunell to start because he has looked so good.

I think every one is underestimating Chicago, they do have a really good defence despite their stats from last year, and receivers good enough to create heart breaking moments.

With Grossman out and an unproven offense, we have the big edge going into the game, but I don't think this will be a blow out.

They may have some good Defense players, but it does not compare to what GW does. Our D is all about confusion and misdirection, Orton is going to be scratching his head every down, "damn, I didn't expect that." We have all learned the hard way, that having marquee names does not help the 'team' play better at all.

Even with their good D, I think our run first gameplan will move down the field and open up a pass here and there. We will probably trade some 3 and outs, but we take it home. Sorry, because I do want Lovie to have success with the bears, just not againt us.

Not necessarily. Brunell and Ramsey both played against the opponents' second-string guys in the first two games. That was where people were comparing/contrasting the two. Orton is going to be in for a long day next Sunday, regardless what our Offense does.

you do know Chicago was ranked #21 in total D last year

#14 pass

#24 rush

#13 scoring

good choice of words for your players... BB material for everyone else

I prefer yards per play given up as the best measure. Total yards isn't a the best measure because your offense may suck and the defense may always be on the field.

The bears defense was 17th last season, giving up 5.2 yards per play. Skins were second giving up 4.4 yards. P'burgh who supposedly had the best defense was 4th, with 4.7 yards. Bears have a long way to go.

Smith is a fool for adding pressure to this game for Orton by chest-thumping in the press.

****y coaches like Buddy Ryan and Jerry Glanville in the past stirred the pot against the likes of Joe Gibbs and Bill Parcells in the NFC and in the end got their lunch handed to them :D

Their defense will definately be respectable - Lovie Smith is an old D coordinator, so that's his forte.

...If this time last year Pittsburg announced they were starting a rookie QB we wouldn't of thought much about it.

Sorry but Big Ben is an exception. Orton is a 4th round pick who one week ago was not even designated as the starter.

you have to wonder about an offense that cut its starting quarterback in the first round of cuts to get down to 65

Chad Hutchinson was the designated starter and now he is on the street?

Grossman is out for the year.

That tells you that Orton was #3 on the depth chart to begin camp and the preseason.

So, there is really no comparison to Brunell, who is clearly not playing as the #3 quarterback on the Redskins right now.

This switch would be analogous to the Skins putting Ramsey on IR, starting and then cutting Brunell and finally going with Jason Campbell for the opener.

Do you think than ANY credible media or sports outlet in the country would give us a prayer shot in hell of having a good team when starting a rookie that until a few weeks ago was the #3?

This is from a bear's fan site that I found:

What everyone from the local media to Bears fans, players and coaches has to realize is that Orton is a work in progress and will be for as many as three or four seasons. I mean, what he has seen on the field thus far is Pop Warner stuff compared to what Bears-turned-Washington Redskins "D" coordinator Greg Blache will throw at him in the regular-season opener.

"I guarantee you, Kyle's head will spin the next few weeks," said Gil Brandt, perhaps the foremost talent evaluator in NFL history. "For a rookie quarterback, the difference between the preseason and the regular season is that of a two-story building and the Sears Tower. There may not be a worse place for Kyle to start his career than in Washington. The Redskins will blitz him in so many different ways that it will be unfair."

In that case, if I'm head coach Lovie Smith and his staff, I watch 2004 Pittsburgh Steelers game films from now until then.

LOL
