We shouldn't underestimate the Bears

From some of the posts I've read, a lot of us have already penciled in a W for the Bears game. Just because they have a rookie as their starting QB, it would be a mistake to look past them. We should concentrate on beating them and not let them take advantage of our over-confidence.

Gibbs is smarter than that, but the entire team should listen and hear what he tells them.

We as fans might look past them but no NFL team in this league would ever go in the game thinking its going to be an easy win, specially the home opener!! We are talking about a JG team here. I am very confident as a fan but I also know the term "any given sunday"..

Here is to the skins winning

Actually, a good team should have the confidence to know it will win games such as these. It's not a sign of overconfidence. It's simply a knowledge the other team can't win because they lack the talent to win. The Bears have no chance we don't give them in this game. Our players should believe it and know it and then DO IT.

Unfortunately, as often appears with the Redskins since Norv started here long ago, they could really amp it up and take out the better teams, but would falter against the weaker teams. The focus of the coaching staff should help with avoiding that type of thing this year.

But, I want my team to have confidence they can beat a scrub team like the Bears led by a rookie QB. It is also reasonable for Bears fans who lack knowledge of how we got to 6-10 last year to assume we are a scrub team they can defeat, however, given any small bit of knowledge, they'd have to lose that thought.

There is no intelligent viewpoint that supports a Bears victory largely because of a rookie at QB against a smart, innovative defensive coach and top defense.

Leave it to Art to disagree  I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be called a moron before this thread is over.

However, while I don't disagree with the majority of your post, I've seen GREAT teams (better than the skins team this year) lose to worse teams (worse than the Bears this year). So, while I understand your point, Art, I don't think that's the point of the thread. The assumed W next week should be forgotten. Let the team feel that way, as long as they're somewhat cautious. But people on this board will call the season if we lose, and for that reason alone, we should all calm the f' down.

I hope the Redskins fans are confident that we'll get a win and actually show up to the game, like myself, get off their hands and get loud for the 2005 Washington Redskins.......

I think Gibbs/Williams and co. are smart enough not to overestimate this Bears team (which is a good squad, with a decent D) and come out hungry with a chip on their shoulders.

I want the fans.....to represent, there better be a decent 12th man performance at the game!!!!!!
