ESPN's most highly rated show NFL Primetime will be no more come 2006. With the new contract the NFL will not allow another network to have a show based on clips from the days games. There is no word if NBC will create their own show but one of the shows I enjoy so much will be gone.

Berman is pissed about this and ESPN will have a "Primetime" type show on Mondays before their football coverage, but it won't be the same

I can't stand Berman and that group of clowns, so this is fine by me.

The NFL Network has rendered this show obsolete anyway.

You know what I'm getting sick of? Those clowns on FOX, Bradshaw may have been a good QB, but man those guys are so annoying. All they do is laugh real hard for hours then slap each other like little girls.

Bad move by the league. ESPN owns rights to games due to the contract. The league is going to get bitten by this, but, ESPN should have negotiated it in to their contract :).

According to them this is something that the NFL has always had in the deal, and was not negotiable.

ESPN got the shaft bigtime, not only did they have to give up the #1 rated studio cable show (which is huge) but they also do not get a superbowl. NBC outbid them so they were able to pick what they wanted and they did not want MNF.

Everything is negotiable, JB. ESPN simply didn't have to pay to broadcast NFL games. Remove areas for the NFL to broadcast. Another network would eventually follow. In 10 years you'd break the league of such a dumb rule. The league needs the exposure created by such shows. Denying it can crush them.

The NFL is also at the level where they just say take it or leave it, who knows both of us were not at the table :)

It isn't like they would have a hard time finding someone else to take ESPN's spot. Who knows they do have a year and if there is enough outcry about the show maybe the NFL will change their point.

On WTEM they said espn should just let Tom and Chris host the early sportscenter and do all the football highlights, and leave 5 minutes at the end of the hour to cover everything else :D

that really sucks, Primetime was my favorite football show...it was the only way I could keep up with my skins when I'm on the road which is 4 days a week.

i feel bad for you if you have to depend on espn for skins updates. the only time they show skins highlights is when someone is scoring on us. i even recall for the giant and vikings games (where we won convincingly) they managed to show a nice highlight package for the opposing team. you woulda thought they won if they didn't show the score at the end.
