From today's Star Tribune:

Cornerback Fred Smoot said the bruised right knee that caused his preseason debut to be postponed until Friday's victory felt fine afterward.

Smoot, in fact, felt so good that he argued with Tice about coming out of the game in the first half until the coach took his helmet away on the sideline. That proved to be a good move by Tice.

"I've been known to go back out on the field when I'm not supposed to," Smoot said. "I just enjoy myself out there."

I love this guy. He's such a competitor that his coaches have to physically keep him out of a preseason game. Even though I feel good with Springs, Rogers and Harris, I miss Smoot.

Smoots probably one of my all time favorite Redskins. Really sucks that we didnt bring him back. Not that I don't think Rogers is going to be good, but I would have much rather resigned Smoot and drafted Mike Williams...

Oh, and getting Trent green back would be nice. :(

I for one am glad that its all over with. I hated to see him go but hell, he was the one that left to chase his Super Bowl ring. Being thats the case, to hell with him.

I would much rather have a rookie in there whom is young with tons of potential. Smoot had it alot better than Rogers though. He was the last one to learn from the great Darrel Green and Bailey.

Kwame Brown had tons of potential. I've learned that potential is just another way of saying "ain't done **** yet."

I just don't like to look back...........hard to move forward if your head is turned around.

Smoot WAS good and he WAS fun to watch.

But I won't dwell on Smoot not being here.

Blondie

Thank you Blondie. The fact is, Freddie and all the guys listed herein are no longer Redskins. They are now the enemy. Let's dance with who's here.

i think chump had a lot to do with smoot's decision to leave, i liked his passion for the game and the way his teammates seemed to feed off of his antics and fearlessness in the locker room and the field, but deep down he left for such lousy reasons so one has to wonder how much the Team really meant to him.

And won't it be sweet when we win one in the next three years and Smooty is playing on a joke of a team

This is a true statement though.

I loved Smoot, one of my favorite redskins, but Carlos "cash" Rodgers is winning me over more and more with each game, has hardly looked like a rookie

 Oh how short are memories are. I seem to remember Rodgers getting burned, not once, but twice not to long ago. To me, that sounds like a rookie.
