Hypocrisy - Marijuana and Alcohol

Entering my junior year in college and being around both substances quite alot, It comes to my attention that there is a great hypocrisy between those that smoke and those that drink (yes, i realize many do both). Specifically, it seems ironic to me that I have come across many heavy drinkers that cast a judgemental eye towards smokers. I just find it hypocritical in the sense that I honestly believe alcohol is much worse for you yet it is an extremely accepted substance. It tears your body up, especially when consumed in large amounts, short-term and long-term, and people get angry, emotional, crazy, etc. when drunk. When people get high, for the most part, people are calm, cool, happy, and relaxed.

I do realize that marijuana is illegal, though Im not sure it should be. Does anyone else see the hypocrisy? :40oz: :chug: :feedback:

here we go again

I do think the youth of today or IDIOTS when you turn 21 you should not do a power hour with shots

The difference Henry is one is legal the other is not. The debate is between cigs and alcohol, however that report that came out this year that said second hand smoke is a billion dollar medical issue should put that theory to rest.

It is a total joke. Alcohol is far more dangerous. It completely impairs driving ability, it kills many, many brain cells, it wrecks your liver and kidneys, and you can OD on it. No one has ever OD'ed from weed. Weed was only outlawed to protect the cotton industry and to discriminate against Mexican immigration and black culture (jazz). It was demonized in the early 20th century, and it continues to get a bad rap. This is despite the fact that it's not only significantly safer than alcohol, but also has many positive uses (muscle relaxer, glaucoma, chemotherapy aid, anti-depressant, sleep aid, appetite booster, etc.).

It disturbs me that our sad government has too much pride to realize that they sh*t the bed on this one and just legalize the stuff. Hell, they could even tax it. But no, rather than making money off weed taxes, they have to enforce this BS policy that forces kids to make shady deals with drug dealers, and costs the taxpayers billions of dollars in prosecuting thousands of simple possession charges.

Legalize it now.

Yeah, but marijuana shouldn't be illegal. I'd rather do something illegal that's alot safer than kill my liver legally.

weed can mess up your lungs, but so can ciggarettes. I personally find it ironic how nicotene is more addictive than weed and yet that is legal. Weed compared to alcohol, only difference to me is weed is illegal. Most potheads I know are still some of the smartest people i know, I may not agree with their drug choices, but I dont mind what they do and I still have great conversations with them. It's funny cause weed does not affect your motor skills I believe while alcohol definitely does.

I work in a store full of very respectable people. They come to work, do their jobs, and you can't tell who's a pothead. You don't see people being lazy, or eating all the food, or shoplifting for drugs. But I promise you if everyone that works at my store got piss-tested on the same day, half would fail and lose their jobs. Am I the only person that sees something wrong with that?

Marijuana impairs driving as well as drinking, both kill brain cells, personally I have seen my friends go from pot to wasting their lifes, you can say the same for alchohol as well.

If you drink that much to begin with then you are a fool, you do not need to drink a 5th or a 12 pack a night to be cool, that is something I never understood about college. It doesn't matter what kind of drug you use, but to much of anything is bad for you.

It affects everyone differently, and when you are driving the slightest lose of skills can be deadly. I used to work with the sheriff's office and saw many people that couldn't drive high and acted like they were drunk.

Both are bad for you and the taxpayer should be off the hook for your medical bills if you foolishly poison your body with both substances.

And the Pot heads I busted were just as bad as alcoholics and when using either substance makes you unproductive and a risk to yourself and others I have no respect for you.

When Randy Moss mentioned he smoked pot last week I noticed that the major debate from the anti-pot side of the issue wasn't that it was illegal, but that it was against league policy.

In nearly all discussions of it that i heard or read or participated in, rarely was the legality of it ever brought up. There were plenty of debates as to whether it is 'performance enhancing' as a basis of it's ban, or whether it was harmful to the health, but again, hardly ever was the justification for league policy simply because it is against the law.

So, it seems to me that even the anti-pot side doesn't even recognize the law anymore.

Why on earth the cops still do makes no sense at all.

The sad thing is because it is about WHO is doing it, and athletes are on a different level. It this was a principle or something, they would be fired today.

I'd prefer the one that doesn't make me puke, piss on myself and give me a massive migraine be the one that is legal.

Then run for the senate so you can change it, oh wait they do drug tests :D

Stop drinking so much then, if you don't learn that isn't our fault.

Bottom line would you want laser eye correction, heart or brain surgery done by someone high on chronic?

What about the guy that's numb to the world from taking Zoloft, Zanax, Prozac, etc.....?

I'd rather the guy capable of free thought than the guy that's nothing but a mindless drone.
