Last Night at Jimmy Buffet

I went to the Jimmy Buffet concert last night at Citizens Bank Park. This was my first Buffet concert. I imagined a great, laid-back party and meeting lots of cool folks. We came as a large group and came early to fire up the grill and enjoy the festivities. Unfortunately the rain came early, but we were able to improvise and keep the good times rolling.

Then there was a fight right across from us, and then some other kids started kicking and throwing beer bottles at a truck as it rolled by. And worse our cars were vandalized while we were in the concert. The mirrors were kicked off our cars, and my friend had his pickup cover cut open and all of our grills, food, etc were stolen. Another friend had a huge dent kicked into the side of his car.

The parking lots were completely trashed, porta-poties turned over, and the broken bottles were so bad that it took a spotter to get out of the parking lot without getting flat tires.

We noticed a lot of kids sucking balloons for some sort of cheap high, and I think this contributed to the violence, as we found lots of used balloon casings around our vehicles. Sort of like rat droppings.

I've talked to some people who've said that they've never seen this sort of thing at a JB concert, and it's more a Philladelphia thing. I hate to say it, but I'm inclined to believe this, and think I'll stay away from any games or concerts here in the future.

I guess also I'm just stunned because this is so out of the spirit of what Buffet and his music stands for. On a lighter note, the concert was awesome!! Hopefully I'll be able to see him in Virginia next year.

That's horrible! I've been to several Buffet concerts in the past and have yet to see or hear anything like that. All the concerts I've seen have been at Nissan Pavilion and I tailgated for a minimum of 3 hours (most were more) so I got to meet alot of people. For the most part everyone is there to have a good time. There are idiots everywhere but the fun-loving, easy-going people greatly outnumber them. Sorry you had such a horrible experience - I'd never go to another Buffet concert if they were all like that but I know that they're not. I hope you get a chance to go come to Virginia next year. The first (10) margaritas are on me!

This is why I am reluctant to take my family to Sesame Place in Filfthadelphia. I have heard of nothing good about the town or the people surrounding it. I bought a two year pass for all Anheiser Busch parks. Sesame Place is one of them. I would just as soon get in my car and drive to Orlando Seaworld or Tampa Busch Garden before I would consider a run to Sesame Place.

Sadly, I know that it is just a small portion of the population that gives the city its reputation. But the bottom line is I will never travel to that city.

Sorry for getting off topic, but you experience just solidifies my opinion....

Right, I expected to see a few people have a bit too much to drink, and get a carried away, but the riot type atmosphere caught me off guard. In fairness, I'm sure the Eagle games are much better. Part of the problem was that you didn't need a ticket to get into the tail-gating area. Just pay your 20 bucks and you're in. So that brought in the non-buffet rift-raft croud looking to get rowdy. I'm definately planning for next summer. I'll be looking to collect on those margaritas!

I agree, and I'm sure it's a fine city..err but I'm not looking to go back any time soon. Maybe we're just spoiled in slower lower Del. For me games and concerts are recreation (that being a fun thing)..and if I have to feel uncomfortable about bringing my family then what's the point.

I have gone twice to Seasame place without incident, but I went during the week when the crouds weren't so bad. Cheers.

No, you should be fine Sesame Place. It's not in Philly. It's in Newtown. Newtown is nothing like Philly, trust me. It's basically the suburbs. I grew up there, and it's one of the nicest places I've ever been. I loved Sesame Place back in the day.

It really puts Seaworld and Busch Gardens to shame (if you're going there for kids).

I have gone to more Jimmy Buffet Concerts than I can count and I can honestly say I have never seen nor heard anything like this ever happening. Sorry dude that really sucks!

This is in-line with the comments I got from my more veteran Parrothead friends. It's good to hear this was a Buffet-anomoly of sorts. I'm looking forward to next summer and some typical good-hearted drunkeness. Cheers.
