SILVER SPRING, Md. -- As many as 15 adults and children are being treated for what authorities said was an attack by a swarm of bees on a Washington-area elementary school.

Montgomery County Fire spokesman Pete Piringer said it happened shortly before noon at Montgomery Knolls Elementary School in Silver Spring.

The children came across a hive in a wooded area near the school, Piringer said.

According to Piringer, the children range in age from 3 to 5 years old. People were treated at the school, and several children were taken to Holy Cross Hospital.

Does anyone NOT have a "children came accross a hive" story? Almost everyone I know learned the hard way, or knew of someone who did, that you are not supposed to poke hives with sticks or throw rocks at them....which is usually the first thing kids do :silly:

When I was mowing the grass last week, I hit a drain spout and a huge swarm came out. I didn't realize that I still had that kind of speed in me.

I feel bad for those kids, I got stung at that age several times and did not like it one bit.

My stupid dog dug a nest up and I had to rescue him from the cloud of death he had set loose upon the backyard and himself. At night I gassed the ****s in their sleep. :)
