As long as it's Cowboys Suck and not @#$% Dallas shirts, I see no problem. If I were a Red Sox fan, I'd be upset about this.

Red Sox doing away with 'Yankees Suck' shirts

Some Red Sox fans can't get enough of the "Yankees suck" chant. And in recent years, independent vendors outside Fenway Park have been making some money by selling T-shirts with the slogan slapped on the front.

But, according to a report in Thursday's Boston Herald, the Red Sox are trying to put a stop to the shirts, as they have taken steps to prohibit them from being worn at what they like to call "Friendly Fenway."

"We are determined to keep Fenway a place where families feel comfortable,'' Red Sox communication chief Charles Steinberg told the Herald.

Steinberg said the Red Sox, who have declined to call it an outright ban on the T-shirts, have been asking fans seen wearing "Yankees Suck" gear inside Fenway to turn the shirt inside out.

Steinberg added there have been no incidents where fans denied to follow the team's new policy.

The Red Sox first told Boston Magazine the idea to quietly eliminate the T-shirts from inside Fenway evolved after the club received many complaints from fans last season.

Steinberg told the Herald the team has shied away from making alternative shirts, with a more friendly message against the Yankees because, "That would reek of some phony, synthetic corporate construction and would be rejected, as perhaps it should be.''

The Red Sox would be standing on some solid legal ground if they decided to ban any such T-shirts from being worn inside the old stadium, according to the Herald.

Several courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, according to a Boston lawyer quoted by the Herald, have upheld the right of private business and property owners to restrict offensive messages or speech.

A lot of fans are in favor of the move.

"I can't say it upsets me terribly," Michael Rutstein, publisher of Boston Baseball and a frequent critic of the Sox owners, told the Herald. "Some people are willing to draw a line at some point, and I guess I am one of them."

I wouldn't take my kids either. At the game tonight, I couldn't help wondering how all these drunk-off there ass people were gonna drive home, and hoping they weren't going my direction. People were up and about the entire game, blocking our view, and making us get out of our seats continuously to let others out. The commercials were so lound we had migraines, and the "beer man" that came by every 10 minutes shouting in my ear was a nice touch too. My son is only 8 and wants to go, but no freakin way I take a child with Asberger's to a place like that. Love the Skin's, hate the stadium.
