jbooma
According to WTEM Gibbs has ended training camp early and let the players go home. They will only have one practice a day from now on.
bulldog
This was mentioned on Saturday when the news first came out. Gibbs was looking for a way to reward his team for their offseason work. He promised during the OTAs that if the players worked hard there and in the official minicamps that he would make training camp shorter. He started it later than most on 7/31 and ended it early. The Washington Post article on Saturday also noted that the staff was determined to get out of formal camp without any serious injuries. So, far the injuries have been things that will keep guys out week to week rather than the Jon Jansen or LA type injuries from 2004 which ruined their seasons. The Full Monty
So, far the injuries have been things that will keep guys out week to week rather than the Jon Jansen or LA type injuries from 2004 which ruined their seasons. Oh tell me about it! Let's not forget that Cliff Russell blowing out his knee in 2002 totally wrecked our season... If we only had Cliff, we'd be polishing that trophy right now ---- But all kidding aside, I'm glad Gibbs is taking a proactive approach to avoiding injuries and the players will only love him more for his concern for them. NoCalMike
Either this is because the team "worked really hard" or Gibbs sees a lot of things he likes. I don't think for a second Gibbs would have done this if he saw a losing product on the practice field.
jbooma
I am also wondering if the weather had any impact on the decision. The weather in the DC area except for today has been terrible the last couple of weeks and all summer. Curious how long the "Ashburn" experiment continues. It is hard to get things done all the time in 100 degree weather.
More Complete
Interesting. So they can go home instead of back to the hotel but they still have to show up for one a days? Is that right? I don't think he'd be cutting the team any slack if they weren't working their butts off.

Funkyalligator
Gibbs is showing once again that he is a Hall of Fame coach.....he is rewarding the players for their offseason work....I do bet that Ramsey will be spending a fair amount of time at Redskins park studying film and such in order to prevent any more bad turnovers.... Carlisle was just as hot the last time I was there :whoknows: Actually Gibbs said he prefers "Ashburn" because the facilities are so much better than you will find at any college.
