Anybody know how our cap situation is right now? It would be nice if we could sign a pass rush specialist. Grant it Williams will find a way to pressure the passer but a monster DE or DT would be a bonus.

Draft day at Fed Ex I yelled at Greg and asked him how we were going to pressure the QB, he held up his hands and made the # 5 then 6, never came to pass. Wow if we can get our guys healthy our defense will crush everyone this year.

Im pretty sure all the decent pass rush specialist would be signed by this point in the year... not to say I have always wanted one, but I have a feeling Daniels is going to have a fair to great year if he stays healthy, especially playing next to behemoths Griffin, Salave'a and Noble. Wynn, Evans, and Warner are not to shabby themselves.

i understand, our pass rush is iffy. Even our "secret weapon" last year in Chris Clemons hasnt netted much this year. Our secondary was our big help last season, as well as our run stopping, but Smoot gone leaves a huge hole at CB for now.

Phillip Daniels is essentially the D-line's version of Jansen in the sense that they're both "additions" to their units by being healthy this year. Daniels, as the RDE, is the pass rusher. While not quite the caliber of Strahan, I think you'll see good things from him and opportunities created for other guys.

Yeah while Daniels does alright as a pass rusher, he has been more of you're run stopper type DE without that real dangerous speed to beat guys around the corner he has to muscle guys around which he did a great job of on Friday night I though!

completely agreed, I don't see any pass rushers worthwhile being cut this year

there are some names out there, but nobody who appears to be 100% healthy.

the last thing we want to do is ruin the chemistry by acquiring a big ego player that fails to live up to expectations.

my feeling is that Daniels and Arrington will add significantly to the pass rush as the 2005 season unfolds.

I would like to see the team invest in the DL in next year's draft now that we have taken corners, quarterbacks, h-backs and offensive linemen the past two years.

Let's also remember that Williams has been the most successful Defensive Coordinator in memory - perhaps even more so than Petitbone - in plugging in anonymous names and getting production out of them. It's one thing to get a guy like Cornelius Griffin, Marcus Washington, Shawn Springs, or Sean Taylor to perform. It's a whole 'nother ballgame, though, to get solid, even outstanding play at times from guys named Salave'a, Clark, Marshall and Clemons.

After seeing what we saw last year, I'm very comfortable relying upon Daniels to play the first couple of downs, and then to turn a OLB or a speedy DE loose from the end as a pass rush specialist.

We could have had Boulware for pretty cheap. I guess our coaches aren't that worried about it.

That's what I'm hoping. That's the good thing about having Williams on D, you can find comfort in knowing that he's going to make great decisions and if he doesn't feel like we need to go after someone then I'll take his word for it, I hope.

Isn't scary being a Redskin fan theses days. Every year you get your hopes up and talk smack to Dallas fans just to get our a$$es handed to us. Comon boys!

Boulware is still not 100%. Hence why he didn't receive the big, multi-year deal he was originally seeking.

Again, to help us a guy has to be on the active roster and out on the field :)

Quite frankly, some of these stop gap players that are being mentioned have big names but some big negatives as to why they were released.

Aren't we avoiding cap hell next year by eating Coles' $9 Mill salary this year? I'm sure Art can speak concerning this...

if Gardner who was a #1 pick and had an established history of starting in the NFL only brought the team a #6 selection in return this late in the summer, what makes you think anybody is going to give us value for a player who was on the inactive list for the majority of the games last year? :)

come on, face it. believing any team is pining away for McCants is like believing that the Wizards should be able to trade Steve Blake in a sign and trade for a capable big man

it just isn't gonna happen.
