Preseason game two

Yes ANOTHER Ramsey thread.

Ramsey is exactly where he should be in the second preseason game.

He got to really air it out for the first time, Had some drops by the WR (one could have been a TD by Moss), and a batted ball that was on a rope for a TD on the first drive.

He had two really awful passes for INT.

and he had several strikes including two big deep passes. one for a TD, the other a 46 yard needle threader to Patten.

last week he made smart decisions but short controlled passes,(except the one pick) This week he was winging it.... and trying to get air under the ball.

The positive was even after the second INT he came back with a nice two minute drill for the fg (could have been TD if Moss hadn't stepped out of bounds making his cut)... worked the clock perfectly. He looked confident in the pocket. His timing with Moss and Patten is coming around.

I am not overly concerned with the picks, because they will be a lesson in his development this season... and the best time to make those type of mistakes is in the pre-season when it doesn't count against the team... After Gibbs interview I pretty sure we won't see any ball thrown like that next week by PR.

Next week I fully expect him to take the next step of pre-season and show more positives and fewer negatives. I doubt he will play much if any in game 4 of preseason. I fully expect him to be ready by Chicago

The OL looked good though took a step back tonight. The 2 &3 rd RB looked great Special teams are improving greatly.... Some nice play at DL and LB by the backups. Though I would like to see all the starters play as a unit at least one game before Sept. 11th

Brunell is looking better than last season, though against backups and scrubs. Brown and Dyson look to be good #5 #6 wr

The negatives are the injuries to the DB... though minor they are losing valuable practice time, and of course the turnovers are unexceptable... but correctable.

I have a good feeling it will all come together this season ... a real good feeling. After hearing Gibbs get a little postal... I know he is 100% back in full Joe Gibbs of old mode....

Watch Out it is going to be a wild fun ride!!!!!!

Agreed, Bubba. Ramsey is really getting close to where he needs to be. A few terrible decisions, yes, but he's still developing and still getting used to the new receivers. It's way too early to count Ramsey out. Two more preseason games and I'm betting that we'll see even greater improvement.

Ahhh, finally some reason. I agree with you Bubba and Hercules.

I am really having a hard time understanding the argument for putting in Brunell and an even a harder time understanding the argument for throwing in our Rookie QB. We can all see that we don't currently have a Joe Montana behind center, but I believe that PR is making progress. These preseason games are not game planned the same as regular season games. Any bone head can see that based on the play calling. PR is working on long plays with his receivers. How many passes did the TE get? How many dump offs? How many hand offs? Was Clinton there doing his thing to take pressure off of the passing game? NO.

Those two throws were terrible! A lot like the Carson Palmer INT. It happens... and will happen again. Seems like a lot of fans are starting to call for Brunell to start - are you kidding me! Did you forget the first nine games of last season? Of course he looks better this year - who is he throwing against? I am just happy that we appear to have a solid back up. Brunell was not a 100% last year some say - so that makes him our best chance to win now? I don't see it that way I guess. Gibbs named PR the starter - my thinking is that Gibbs might know better than those calling for Ramseys head based on two frigging preseason games.

I realize it's only preseason....

but I am seeing things that send chills down your spine if you were around the first Gibbs era and were old enough to understand.

It all begins up front, and Dockery is already playing like an all pro. Rabach is the real deal, Jansen, Samuels and Thomas get back to form..... it will be 1983 all over again.

And seeing the second team defense swarmiong and manhandling was a warm fuzzy feeling.

Barring any injuries :fingersx: and everyone continues to progress through the pre-season... Portis starts running, and Gibbs game plans for the regular season..... You will see play action that will have Peyton Manning and Bret Farve jealous. Portis & Betts are going to put up some inane numbers and we won't rank in the double digets in offense scoring this season.

to quote Mack Brown as the manager in Major Leagues...

"We are starting to come together Pepper, we are starting to come together"

about the Moss drop, can we please not have any pyrotechnics at the game start. It was a soup of smoke after that idiot display, that crap lingered for a long time. Perhaps Im giving too much latitude to Moss, but football is football and rock shows are rock shows.

And if we are gonna keep blowing crap up before the kick off, can we please opt to kick if we win the toss to atleast give it time for it to completely disipate.

I can't believe I forgot the running game.. Even though there weren't many run plays called in the first half, some of the runs by Betts and Rock Cartwright were awesome! I can only imagine what it'll be like with Portis hitting those holes..

The line play has been spectacular so far. I think you're wrong about the step back, that sack was a creative delayed blitz that hit us perfectly. I'm not sure what you can do about that other than see it coming and throw it away. Otherwise, did you see the defensive line on any of our run plays? I sure as heck didn't. They weren't even on my screen.
