Redskin game on DSS

I just saw the "News" article on Ramsey by a fan in NC who says he will not get to see the game. I moved to Alabama several years ago, and have signed up for Sunday Ticket ever since. Earlier today, I checked all DSS channels, and found tonight's game is televised live on channel 629. I immediately called DirecTV and signed up for their Sports Pack, which includes that channel. If I cancel at the end of this month (I plan to), it will cost me a total of $4.03!!!! Pretty reasonable to see my favorite team. I do not know if other preseason games are televised on this group of channels, but I will check it out before I cancel.

The reasom I assume is so NFL Network gets to broadcast those games exclusively. I've found that the FOX Sports pack really sucks. It blacks out baseball, basketball (college and pro), college football and hockey. About the only thing they don't black out from the various sports networks is Donkey basketball or NCAA women's yard darts.

No need to feel sorry - not YOUR fault. I'd much rather know it way ahead of time like I did, then to find out at 7 Central when the black screen shows up. I appreciate hearing it here.

As far as saving it for the NFL broadcast, not an option for me. (At least not to keep it secret). I operate a fantasy football service, and will be moderating "live" phone drafts solid all weekend long (as I have been most of the month). All my customers know I am a Redskin fan, so I will know ALL about it LOL. I guess I will follow it here.

Price to listen to the game isn't bad, http://www.nfl.com/fieldpass/.

I signed up about a week or so ago. You can sign up for the entier season @ $29.95 or so or $9.95 for the month. The 1st week is free.

It's cause you are in VA, not because you have Dish, I think.

I went to the Comcast website and it showed which counties would not be blacked out. Unfortunately there were no North Carolina counties listed and I believe this blackout rule counts for all airings (cable, DirecTV, Dish...)

On the other hand, though... our local radio station in Raleigh (WPTF 680AM) airs Sonny,Sam and Frank... er, Larry. It's the next best thing!

It will always be blacked out. It's NFL rules. For preseason games, the teams playing have exclusive rights to the broadcast. I've been listening to the game on Sirius. Sirius is great and I recommend it to everyone. They have two channels for the game, so you can hear the home and away announcers. Its over 140 channels of commercial free music, and unlike XM, its not a continuous loop of music, there are DJ's.
