bubba9497
NFL: June 15, 2005 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/scorecard/06/15/truth.rumors.nfl/index.html Dolphins buzz: QB Gus Frerotte will enter camp as the front-runner to start, with players privately praising his touch and command of the offense. -- Miami Herald James "Shack" Harris, VP of player personnel, said the Jaguars have had what he called "conversations" about cornerback Ty Law and running back Travis Henry, but didn't make it sound as if they're close to making a serious run at either player. There's been speculation the Jaguars are interested in a running back because of the uncertain condition of running back Fred Taylor, but Harris said the team hasn't had conversations about Shaun Alexander of Seattle despite a report to the contrary on NFL.com. -- Florida Times-Union The Ravens signed Pro Bowl tight end Todd Heap to a six-year contract extension, locking up one of their offensive cornerstones through 2011. The Ravens now can focus on signing some of their other players, such as running back Jamal Lewis , who also is in the final year of his contract. There had been reports that safety Ed Reed was unhappy and wanted to renegotiate his contract, which has two years remaining, but the NFL defensive player of the year played down that talk. -- Washington Post New Browns RB Reuben Droughns dropped his demand for a new deal and decided to concentrate on just playing. "Deep down inside the way I feel is that the way I get a new deal is obviously by coming out here and proving myself on the field,'' Droughns said. -- Akron Beacon Journal Az-Zahir Hakim will be in Kansas City today, he'll compete for a receiver spot, but that's all coach Dick Vermeil is promising. "A position isn't going to be handed to him in a Christmas package," Vermeil said. "He's going to have to compete, and he knows that. I didn't really actively recruit hard to get this guy. I wanted him to come on his own." -- Kansas City Star Vikings free agent kick returner/running back Chad Morton visited Winter Park but left without agreeing to a contract. Morton is expected to make several other visits before deciding where to sign. -- Minneapolis Star Tribune GM Floyd Reese said the Titans are looking to add a tight end, though it probably won't be a veteran. The Titans are also still interested in adding another kicker. -- Nashville Tennessean Linebacker LaVar Arrington's oft-postponed hearing for a grievance against the Redskins is back on. Arrington believes that the Redskins omitted $6.5 million in bonuses agreed upon for 2006 from an eight-year, $68 million contract extension signed in December 2003. He contends that the Redskins purposely removed the difference from the final draft that he signed under deadline pressure. -- Washington Post Daunte Culpepper was asked his reaction to ex-teammate Randy Moss' assertion that his new Raiders teammate Kerry Collins is a better overall quarterback than the Vikings' Pro Bowl QB. Culpepper smiled quizzically, then shook his head. "When I first heard that, I figured maybe Randy had fallen and bumped his head to say something that crazy," Culpepper said. "All they've got to do is look at the numbers. I mean no disrespect to Kerry Collins. I understand that (Moss) has to say something good about his quarterback. But he didn't have to say anything that crazy." -- St. Paul Pioneer Press

Henry
Duante, the response is "no comment." Randy being a classless jerk doesn't mean you have to be one back.
Eparadox
I'm telling you guys, if Gus didn't have such a low sidearm delivery, he would have been a decent starter in this league. It just seems every 1 out of 5 balls he throws up the middle gets deflected at the line.

forbeskin
I read today the Postons didn't read the final draft of the contract, because of the "rush" to get the deal done. (PFT)

Beaudry
Tim Green wasn't bad, but I would mostly consider him a below-average DE for the Falcons. He did have that book that talked about the "inside" of pro football. Sort of an interesting read.

I don't think many Redskins fans hated him personally. I just hated seeing the game on the line and then they'd have a shot of Gus's face and he'd have little reindeer eyes. stevenaa
"Duante, the response is "no comment." Randy being a classless jerk doesn't mean you have to be one back." Or something like "Well, Kerry is a good quarterback, I hope it works out for both of therm" What a knuckle head response. What he basically said was "no he's not, I'm better, so NYA!!!!"
