I for one would be disappointed if Zimmer goes to the Cowboys. He’s a proven good defensive coordinator. He’d very likely do well there. I hate the Cowboys. I don’t like seeing them hire good coaches.
Eagles fan here. McKee had a great preseason (you won't see it if you just look at his passing stats without looking at the games) and gave the impression of being someone who could wind up being a decent backup in the league, with maybe an outside shot of starting at some point if he gets an opportunity. Ojomo played well in the preseason and made the team but was rarely active and didn't really look all that great when he did play. I think he might have stumbled his way into a sack once to get on the stat sheet. Hard to tell if he's going to be a versatile swing guy along the defensive line or if he's simply a "tweener" who isn't big or powerful enough inside and not fast or athletic enough outside.
I tend to find it amusing when teams — the Falcons in this case — hire failed coaches with the hope that their previous failure was just an aberration. There are occasional successes I suppose, but for the most part they fail the next time around too.
I’d hate to be a Falcons fan right about now because you have to expect you’ll be on the same coaching search path in about three years.
Why would the Bucs walk off the field with a timeout in their pocket instead of calling a timeout on fourth down with about 25 seconds left on the clock? They could still get the ball back and get a miracle. Bizarre.
That doesn’t make sense. If the Cowboys lose to Detroit and the Eagles beat the Cardinals, the Cowboys would be locked into the fifth seed and have nothing to play for in their final game. If Dallas beats the Lions, they are guaranteed to still have a chance at the division title no matter what the Eagles do against Arizona.
It was a tricky situation. The Colts were upset with Shula at the time. They held it against him for losing the Super Bowl to the Jets and were disappointed with failing to make the playoffs the next year. He believed they had given him permission to sign elsewhere. He agreed to go to the Dolphins. At that point, Colts ownership cried foul, and the league decreed that the Dolphins had to give them a first round pick as compensation. There was a lot of animosity at the time between the two teams.
Peyton and Aikman, so yeah. Eli was technically drafted by the Chargers. Wentz could count, though he was injured and didn’t play. A bunch of others got to the Super Bowl and lost. Goff, Ryan, Burrow, Newton. Maybe others.
You would leave Georgia out based on the premise that the SEC Championship Game actually matters. If they lose this game and advance, then what was the point of playing this game in the first place?
