  1. Hmm.. The pass he caught yesterday was in traffic across the middle after he was interfered with. And I totally disagree about him not being a vertical threat. AZ committed to taking everything outside and deep away from us. To the point that the one time someone got behind them they held instead of getting beat. And they have a very good secondary. But since they did sell out for that the team ran up almost 200 yds rushing. Decisions have consequences. We are way too impatient with some of these guys. he had no first season due to injury. He had an up and down season last year but how much of that was Kirk not giving him chances? None of the WRs really busted out. Just saying may be worth being a little more patient with these guys than one game with Alex.
  2. Just say NO!!!!! to Dez. This would be a Vinnie panic move. They are building a locker room of adults. He is not an adult. And he is a mere shell of who he was. Ever think there is a reason that 31 other teams do not want him either? They have guys on the practice squad they can bring up. This is what building a team through the draft looks like.
  3. Sorry, not trying to be an ass here but I do not see it as a lingering issue when he plays every single game and has the most snaps the year after he had the injury issue. I am a big fan of Jays but I believe he was wrong to show his frustration with Josh. It was the medical team not properly diagnosing the issue. Josh even tried to play hurt and could not go. He was right to make sure he was 100% before playing. He could have injured himself permanently. I am really looking forward to seeing him and Alex working together. For whatever reason it never seemed like he and Kirk were really on the same page. Not placing blame. It happens. QB/WRs do not always have a good rapport even if both players are good. But early word is that ALex and Josh are developing really good chemistry. Should be fun to watch.
  4. I keep Harris and Sims over Quick all day. In terms of the bold - Doctson played all 16 games last year, including more offensive snaps than any other WR on the team. I posted the data a few pages back. I know people like to trash Grant, but it looks like he set to be the #2 target for Andrew Luck. He played pretty well last year despite fans distaste for him.
  5. I added the Pass Defensive DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) score and ranking from, Football Outsiders. Also not perfect but is a bit more broad than yards.Tells a bit different story too. This is not to disparage the data you presented. Thanks for doing the research and posting. I honestly starting looking as I thought it might reinforce what you had. However, it tells a little different story. We face 4 teams (5 gms) against teams with a top 10 passing D last year. If we split them by top half and bottom half - it's 7 games against teams with top half (16th or better) and 9 against bottom half. As I said above though, I think the passing game will be fine. And if the running game can at least be a threat, the offense as a whole can be very good.
  6. Jay's offense is is very well designed from a passing game standpoint. We had no standout receivers last year outside Thompson until he got injured. Yet our QB still had over 4000 and 27 TDs. If they are just the same as last year, something I would consider well below average, we will be fine from a passing standpoint. What will help that will be an improved running game. It will make our QB and passing game in general better. To me, the floor is last year which will suffice. The ceiling is that this could be a really excellent group. Crowder rebounds. Quinn is as advertised. Doctson begins to really reach his potential. Richardson provides the deep threat. Davis,Harris, and whoever else provide timely catches. So to me, more than personnel, a better run game will help the passing game be even better.
  7. It was a 3rd. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/two-weeks-after-supplemental-draft-giants-third-round-cb-reportedly-out-for-season/
  8. Conner Lamb is the most notable. He did not run against 45 or even his opponent - and I am not talking about there were absolutely no ads or anything - that's absurd. What I am saying is that the main thrust of the campaign was more about what he planed to do different not what was win with others. And you putting two things together that I was not discussing. People know what a POS 45 and the republican party. So I agree people are voting against him in many cases. However when you rub peoples nose in it many of those independents and others who voted for him even though they didn't like him but could be convinced to vote against him will dig in. And I am not talking about his base supporters. Talking him down is the same as talking them down in their eyes. And giving constant reminders of what POS 45 and the Republican party is will not change peoples mind. I saw a study the other day that 70% of the people knew he was lying yet 42% still thought he is doing a good job and like him as president. And Doug Jones may have won because of Roy Moore being a despicable human being, but he made it close to begin with by campaigning on what he planned to do.
  9. This will not win an election. They have to stop telling people what the other guy is going wrong and start telling people what they are going to do right. If you play this game the Republicans will win. They are better at it. The Democrats that have won recently have done so by running for what they plan to do not running against who their opponent is or who is in the WH. Never wrestle with a pig - you both get dirty and the pig likes it.
  10. Fair enough but that actually makes the point. With Rogers he is much better. Without him he is pedestrian.
  11. Not saying you - but interestingly enough almost the entire fan-base has been chomping at the bit to get rid of Grant since the day he signed here - the latest Reed Doughty. In terms of specifics, Grant also just had his one and only decent year. Grant was never going to be more than a #4 guy or possibly a #3 guy unless there were injuries. Nice guy - worked his butt off. But he just does not have the skill set to be a top WR. Most importantly - he signed for 4 yrs -$29M! That's >$7M/yr! Sorry, I like the guy and would not have had a problem keeping Grant for a reasonable contract. But for me anything more than $3M/yr maybe $4Myr is too much. Also, Richardson has something you can't teach - speed. That is something that Grant cannot provide. And just plain NO! to Jordy Nelson. Do not need older guys on the wrong side of their career. He has had some injury issues and had a severe drop off last year - and that's with Aaron Rogers throwing to him! Now if you can get him at vet minimum or close to it? Maybe. But he will get much more than that - have you seen some of the other contracts? Watkins - 3 yrs/ $48M!! Robinson - 3 yrs/$42M! Nelson is not coming cheap. I really like this signing and while it looks a little high - in terms of a FAs, it's not a bad contract - especially when you see what Robinson and Watkins got - granted they are much more established - but Watkins is a head case who has not been very productive the last few years and Robinson is coming off a major ACL injury and was a lot more expensive.
  12. I agree with all but the last part - it has nothing to do with you being married.....
  13. This highlights the entire problem with the chasm created by 45s campaign and resulting election coupled with his full out attack on the media. The playbook is Deny, Deflect, and Attack! What's interesting is how quickly they will turn inwards and attack, not if someone commits heinous acts like Roy Moore who many are still defending and refusing to believe he did it, (I honestly think it's worse if they acknowledge he is likely guilty but still vote for him due to party, but that's just me.), but if someone dares to present facts that they don't agree with. The recent debunking of the entire Uranium One accusations by Shepard Smith is a perfect example. Instead of realizing that the accusations are completely false, they are calling for Smith to be fired from Fox. BTW: I wonder how many people are wishing they still had their Keurigs!! Most hilarious thing I have ever seen!
  14. Could not agree with this more. We went from a certain 0-4 with people wanting jay g fired and the entire team replaced to winning The SB in 3 gms. I wonder how many will be making hotel reservations for the SB if we somehow manage to beat KC? I like this with manusky, swearinger, and the rest. Guys are making each other better. They played well enough to beat philly. Hopefully kirk and the off have found themselves. Will need to play an almost perfect game to compete with KC much less beat them.
  15. If you truly believe in the constitution and everything that it stands for in terms of this great country and the freedoms that the flag represents, you have to defend to your core someone's right to protest during the anthem or however they see fit. I said this before but I believe it is worth repeating. Until President Obama was elected there was a large portion of our society that was not invested in the US. They lived here and were citizens but they did not feel like they had a voice. He gave them a voice. So they are participating. But you can't say the flag and the Nation Anthem represent freedom and the struggle for that freedom but then as soon as someone exercises that freedom in a way that you don't like say, well you can't to it "that" way! I am offended. So I come back to, If you truly believe in what the flag and the Nation Anthem stand for, you may not like it, it can make you angry, you can disagree completely, but you can't tell people they can't protest "that" way. Freedom here is meant to be absolute (as long as it's not physically hurting anyone). You don't get to pick and choose how others express themselves. Not only that, you have a responsibility to defend them and their right to protest how they see fit an they should defend your right to disagree with them.
  16. The ultimate conspiracy!! Dare we think it? Thought this was too funny not to post somewhere. Warning - There is some bad language. May not want to watch with small children nearby.
  17. Says the guy who quotes Tony Robbins!!

    Free Trent Williams

I really do not get this thought process at all. There are two completely separate issues that many can't seem to separate. Trent's responsibility and the leagues responsibility. It appears he is getting jobbed here but had he never failed a single test he would not have had to worry about missing the test while in Africa. He has to be accountable for his actions. Now, there is a second, completely different issue here with the league and their incompetence. What's worse is that when it's clear he was wronged there is no recourse. But still, had he never failed a single test none of this would be happening - period.
  19. Agree that's a little ominous. However, it goes both ways - we are 11th at converting 3rd downs and they are actually worse than us stopping at 32nd. Also, interestingly enough we are #1 in the NFL in offensive 3 and outs at 9.38 (6 of 64) where the Lions are 26th at 23% (13 of 56). Our Off should get some extra drives if our D continues to play like it has and we should be able to win the field position battle - in theory! :
  20. This is where the Redskins can go a long way to showing they are for real or remind us they are still a work in progress. To be a good team, you have to beat inferior teams. This is probably the most lopsided in favor of the Redskins this year - on paper. The Lions wins have not been very impressive as the season unfolds (I know, the same can be said for the Redskins). But even the Browns looked like a little better match up when we played them. They opened the season with a win over Indy - who looks really bad right now. They then lost 3 straight to TN, GB, and CH - not exactly a murders row of teams outside GB who is not playing very well right now either. Then they squeak by PH who are who we thought they are (yea, I went there), and then beat a Jeff Fisher coached Rams team - enough said on the Rams and the king of underachieving! When you look at the stats above, this should be an easy W. However, one of the next steps this team needs to take is to put away bad teams early and get an easy W. I know my blood pressure would appreciate it! At least on paper, the Lions look like a bad team. But if they take them lightly, they will get beat. Let's see if the team can back up Swaggys talk (which BTW I wish he would keep his big mouth shut till the end of the season!)
  21. Was definitely my point, But you wrote it in a much more entertaining fashion!
  22. Wanted to add something else - I actually saw someone say, mind you based just on the few minutes played last night against mostly scrubs and back-ups, that we could have a controversy for back-up QB! And so begins the romance with whatever 3rd, 4th or worse string QB on the Redskins roster! Let's start with Vernon Davis has to catch that ball! The entire complexion of the game and McCoys performance changes if he does. Second, and I am not sure why this is so hard to grasp this - Sudfeld did what he did against guys that will be bagging groceries in a few weeks and McCoy has already had some success in the NFL. That's not to mean he will develop into a good QB. He is just a rookie. And he clearly shows promise - but a controversy for #2? There is no controversy! Maybe next year McCoy moves on and Sudfeld takes his place. I am glad he is Redskin and should provide solid depth and will have some excellent time to grow without being thrown to the wolves. That's how you grow a roster. But barring injury McCoy will be the #2 this year. Any talk of a controversy is purely mythical and just makes no sense what so ever!
  23. Everyone does realize this was a "preseason" game, right? The only thing you can get out of this is if the 1s played very well. After that you really have no idea. The 1st team Off and D looked overall pretty good outside the run game. The Oline obviously missed TW. Let's see what the run game looks like in the next few weeks. If people remember, we looked bad in the run game last preseason. But then exploded in the 1st 2 actual games only to have KL and SL go down for the season. The apoplectic concerns over all things Redskins, while predictable, is just not necessary and IMO total over-reaction. I could care less how they play in the first game of the preseason outside the 1s. They are putting guys in situations. They are looking at different combinations of players. Most will never play together again. Also, there were several key players out of the game for precaution. This is the purpose of "preseason" games. Make mistakes, get some coaching and fix them. As for the penalties, some of that's rust and some of that are the refs letting the teams know what can be called and some rust on their parts too. It's preseason for the refs also. I turned it off after the 1st Q. The rest is not much more than a glorified scrimmage. The 1st teams looked good enough to be optimistic.
  24. I believe this Tannehill thing has been taken out of context. The reason Tannehill was pissed is because the picks happened during the Sat. walk through. The Def is not supposed to make any picks or tackles. The purpose of the walk through is just that, walk through the plays to make everyone is on the same page. Having said that, there must be a reason the PS players were doing what they were doing. But Tanny being pissed is kind of understandable. I would like to know the whole story. There is a lot I think they are leaving out. Like how it got to this point.
