  1. I'm unfortunately too poor at this stage in my life to afford beer geekdom. It will happen some day, though.
  2. Okay everyone, here's a question about your beer containment chambers. What do you like to drink beer out of? Glass, mug, just the bottle, or something else? The reason I ask: I just bought some Auburn drinkware at a major sale at the arena today. I bought one tall pilsner-style glass, and one ceramic mug (both were $10, normally marked at $25). I figured I could keep one and give my dad the other. The glass would be best for seeing the beer's color, and the more obvious contemporary choice. But the mug is really nice-looking. And it looks like what they'd drink beer out of at an old Irish pub or something. The dork in me wants to go with the mug, but I'm still undecided.
  3. I can't believe the Gold Cup is only on Fox Soccer Channel. Does anyone know of any websites where I could watch the USA play?
  4. Pretty upset I missed the USA-ARG match. Good to hear that the young talent was performing well.
  5. Friday night my buddy had some brown ale made with pecans by the Lazy Magnolia brewing company in Mississippi. It was phenomenal! I love pecans, and turns out they go great in ale. I'll definitely drink this beer again.
  6. Does anyone know of a stout beer that isn't too terribly expensive, but still pretty easy to find?
  7. Got a six-pack of Newcastle this weekend. I was curious about it. I must say, I've never had beer in clear bottles. I didn't expect it to really have that much of an effect. But I now know what skunkiness is when it comes to beer. After letting it air out a while it's not too bad, but still there. I feel like I've been deprived of a great-tasting beer. It's a shame. I also got a six-pack of Yuengling black & tan this weekend. Might be my favorite beer.
  8. I tried Yuengling Black & Tan tonight. It was fantastic. The first dark beer of any kind I've had. Loved the hint of coffee. Can't wait to try other dark beers.
  9. I'm actually a pretty big coffee fan. So I might just, as you say, dive right in. I'm also very interested in Black & Tan. I've heard lots of good things about it. I'll probably check that out some time next week. I also tried Blue Moon for the first time last night. I've never had something that different before. I liked it alright, but I feel like it's something I gotta be in a mood for.
  10. I've only just really gotten into beer, being a youngster and all. So far I really like Yuengling traditional. I've never had dark beer of any sort, but I'm very interested in the idea. What's a decent dark beer that's pretty easy to find? I'm also wanting to try Newcastle, anyone got a strong opinion on it?
