  1. The most encouraging fact to me is the noticeable improvement Haskins showed throughout the season. He has a lot remaining to learn but based on what I have seen thus far I am confident he is up to the task. I'm not a film expert but I did watch a bunch of Ohio State's games on ESPNU this week and there was a very notable improvement in Haskins play throughout the season. If he improved that much in a single year as a stater at Ohio State, imagine what is possible when all he has to worry about is football and is coached up. I believe Keenum will start, but Haskins is the future. When exactly future starts will be determined by how the season plays out, but it is coming. HTTR.

    Starting QB 2019???

I like Colt. He has a thorough understanding of our offense and things just seem to work a little more smoothly when he was in the game. That said he does not have a big league arm. Underneath timing routes he handles well but not much threat deep. If he had the arm he would have been a star. I like Case. I think he is a better athlete than Colt and has a stronger arm. More starting experience, has actually won a playoff game. Will have to learn our offense, but I don't think he will struggle with it. Definitely not the long term solution, just a stop gap until Haskins is ready. I don't think that Case was brought in to back up Colt. Assuming Case Keenum starts opening day and Haskins replaces him at some time during the year, is Keenum going to go from starting one week to cut the next? I think the guy that wins the competition in camp and starts opening day sticks around as the backup. Keenum probably has some trade value, maybe the opportunity to trade him pops up about the time Haskins is ready. I can see us keeping three QBs initially, but once Haskins assumes the starting role I don't think we'll end the season with 3. All that said, I don't think Case is ready to accept being a backup and Colt has accepted that role wholeheartedly. Not sure how it's going to work out, but I'd be shocked at the end of season if Haskins is not the starter and Colt remains his backup.
  3. It is amazing to me the wild fluctuations in evaluating players when none of them have played a down in 4 months. When last on the field Dwayne Haskins was winning the Rose Bowl going 25 for 37 with 3 touchdowns and no interceptions and was selected as the MVP of the Rose Bowl. He threw 50 TDs in a single season. I am excited to give this guy an opportunity to lead the Redskins, Don't get caught up in all the he said she said from people who are paid to create controversy and fodder for talk TV and radio. Kyler Murray is a great athlete, who in the right system, has the chance to be an exciting and dynamic playmaker; Dwayne Haskins fits our system much better and has the chance to be a great QB. I fully believe the Redskins got the guy the wanted. HTTR!

    Starting QB 2019???

I think the most heated competition in camp is going to be Keenum vs Colt. Of course this is assuming that Colt is even physically up to it. Colt knows the offense, I think Keenum is a better QB. I expect Colt will lose this competition and be cut. If Keenum is clearly better in camp than Haskins he'll start, but have a pretty short leash. If they are even close I think Haskins starts opening day. Haskins has shown he can handle pressure, if he is even close to ready I expect he will be on the field. Good D, Good running game I think we can win some games with Haskins starting as a rookie.

    2019 NFL Draft discussion thread

Dwayne Haskins is a traditional drop back passer with a big arm and limited mobility. How would it be difficult to find a coach to that knows how to handle a QB that plays the way QB's have been playing forever? A couple other points: We had a pretty good OLine before injuries, struggled after too many injuries to count. Coming back healthy no reason to expect "crappy". I expect our OL to be a strength. By all accounts Guice will be 100% at camp. With him healthy and AP, I expect to be a heavily leaning run team and I expect us to be successful. I will be really surprised if Alex Smith is ever the preinjury Alex Smith. I believe it was a poorly worked contract guaranteeing so much cash. If he ever returns I think it will be as a mentor to our young starting QB. I like Alex, but I think he is done. I do agree if by a miracle Alex is 100% in 2020 it could be awkward in the QB room. i don't know if Dwayne Haskins is going to be the guy, but I am extremely confident he will always be better than Daniel Jones. The overall worth of the draft will be decided down the road, but I'm optimistic we are on the right path (despite Bruce Allen)

I'm not sure if it means we are smarter than most or just had a ton of needs but last years Mr Irrelevant made the team and we are counting on him again this year.

Speed, YAC, good blocker, "best gunner in draft", mentor to our new QB. Why all the hate? I like the pick.

    2019 NFL Draft discussion thread

Everyone I heard that claimed to be expert believed Haskins and Murray were clearly the best two QBs in this years draft (by a wide margin). If it wasn't for Kingsbury and his love for Murray, Haskins would have been the guy. Big arm, quick release, high football IQ and we didn't have to trade up to get him. Only knock seems to be mobility. He is not Byron Leftwich or Jason Campbell. Let's get him a #1 receiver in round 2 (or a ILB or corner) and fill some other gaps in the future rounds.

Not sure we will draft Haskins, but I am extremely confident he will be a better QB than Daniel Jones.

Perfect. We didn't draft Daniel Jones and the Giants did.

I think I can live with anything but Daniel Jones with pick 15. Trade the world and go after Murray, sit tight and draft Haskins or Lock, draft anybody else at 15, trade back and get some additional picks. If the Redskins draft Jones at 15, or heaven forbid jump up to get him, I am turning in my Redskin fan card. I can't take anymore.

    2019 Comprehensive Draft Thread

I like Rosen, but it scares me that at team that drafted him 10th a year ago is ready to move on. It appears they think he is serviceable, but not the franchise guy. They should certainly know more about him than we do. Maybe a change of venue and scheme is all he needs to be the guy, but nobody knows for sure. Is he worth a 2nd round pick (or even better) a third, I think it is worth the chance. I think Kyler Murray has a very good chance to be the guy, but it's not a sure thing. He does a lot of things well, but guys that rely on athleticism don't always adjust to the speed of the NFL immediately. I think he will be exciting to watch and sell lots of tickets. I think he is worth grabbing if to the opportunity presents itself, but I wouldn't trade the farm for him (i.e RGIII) I think Dwayne Haskins has as good a chance to be the guy, but in a different way. He is not as athletic, but he is very good in the pocket. He threw to a bunch of guys that were wide open, not a lot of tight windows. Doesn't mean he can't, but Redskin receivers don't seem to get wide open so it would be something new. I've heard a couple talking heads say he throws to people, as opposed to throwing people open. I don't see that so much, but they are "professionals". Consensus seems to think he is a year away from being ready to start. I just don't see, with all our needs, drafting a guy 15 to back up Case Keenum for a year, but I also don't think he will be there at 15 and I would definitely not move up to get him. i think Drew Lock has a good chance to be the guy. He is a bit of both the guys above, more athletic than Haskins, arm not as strong. Good decision maker, moves well in pocket. I think, like Murray, would start immediately. I like Drew Lock and would be tempted to take him at 15, but we could get a stud WR, CB, or ILB that could help immediately. Decision makers need to be very confident he is the guy to draft him if available. If Jay wants to hitch his wagon to Lock, I'm ok with it. That said I would not trade up for him and I don't think he will be available at 15. i don't think Daniel Jones will ever be the guy. Decent athlete, makes a lot of bad decisions, below average big league arm, rushes in pocket. I really hope the Giants take him at 6. I don't think he is better than Keenum or McCoy. My first choice would be to pick up Greer or Finley in the second or third, let them back up Keenum for a year and get a couple studs to help the team immediately. I have no idea what Bruce will do, but I hope Doug Williams was serious when he said they are much more likely to trade back than up. Let's add a few good players; we need a #1 WR, we need a stud IL, we need an island DB, we need a ball hawking FS, and at least one 300 lb to plug into the line. Here's to hoping we get better this weekend. #HTTR

    Starting QB 2019???

Haskins is the first in over 50 years to be 1st round worthy. I don't think that should have anything to do with Haskins valuation. That said, I don't think he will be there at 15 and I am definitely not in favor moving up to get him.

    Starting QB 2019???

Historically, first round QBs are a 50-50 shot. It ultimately gets down to the evaluation of talent; unfortunately, I don't have a great deal of confidence in the Redskins talent evaluators. When I look at QBs I think the most important trait I look for is anticipation. He needs to be smart enough and a strong arm is always helpful, but there have been many strong armed mediocre QBs out there. I think Murray shows it most, second on my list is still Grier. Does he rush sometimes, sure; does he make a bad decision now and again, they all do; but when I watch his throws he throws with anticipation of where the receiver is going to be, not where he is. My biggest concern is sometimes he holds the ball to long trying to make a play, but that can be learned. Simple little things like watching them throw the deep out at the combine, Grier was the only guy throwing on before the breaks leading the receiver to the sideline (I think because he doesn't have a rocket arm he wasn't trying to WOW anybody.). Definitely not a first rounder, but I'd love to see them pick him up in the second round and let him compete.

    Starting QB 2019???

I wonder if Greer could last until our round 2 pick? If there is not a hyped up QB rush in round 1, we could move up a few spots in round 2 to get ahead of QB needy teams without it costing us too much. I think he's the guy. Could still take a stud cornerback, WR, or OL with #15.
  16. This dude was the #9 pick 3 years ago, there must be something there to work with. Maybe coach C can coach him up as a starting guard or backup tackle.

Ye Auld 2019 Free Agency Tracker

He's on the commissioner's exempt list, I don't envision him being removed without some suspension. That said, I agree that he has not been formally convicted of any domestic violence crimes (he has not been a model citizen) and punishing him for that seems unjust. It just seems it would be very helpful to know before the draft or conclusion of free agency.

Does anybody have any updates on R. Foster? Hunt got his ruling today (8 games); shouldn't a ruling be coming soon on Foster? I'm guessing even though all charges were dropped he'll still get 8-10 games due to the multiple incidents.

As previously mentioned, the Redskins don't play the schemes that Norman was successful playing in Carolina. He is not a lock down man corner. If we are not going to get the most of him he is grossly overpaid based on his value in our current scheme. Let him do what he does best or let him go and use the cap space somewhere else.

Landon Collins and the #21 debate...

I played enough football growing up to remember we wore jersey numbers in honor of our favorite players. I'm all for letting the big rich kids that still play football do the same thing. Nobody's opinion of Sean Taylor will change if the #21 is once again roaming the Redskins secondary. I think it couldn't be a better fit than Landon Collins. Sean Taylor was a great football player, potentially a HOFer if his career (and life) didn't end tragically short; but he was just a football player. Redskin fans will never forget him, regardless of what happens to the #21; I'm all for seeing it bring the big hits back on Sundays.

I've liked Grier for a while. My brother graduated from WVU so i watched a bunch of his games the last couple years. I think I like his pocket composure and decision making more than most. Last year he pressed a little because his team needed it, but overall I liked him. Throws a hood deep ball, throws on time, average arm strength. I think we could pick him up in the 3rd round and see what he can do at the next level. I'd rather have Rosen, but I wouldn't be heart broken if we give him a shot.

    Starting QB 2019???

I like Colt and I think our offense was slightly more aggressive with him, but he has proven that he is extremely injury prone and is limited in arm strength. We need to get Rosen and build around him or fill some other holes this year and draft a QB early next year. Either way we still are several holes away from being good.

    Starting QB 2019???

My prediction, 2nd round pick in 2019 and Case Keenum for Josh Rosen 1 day before draft. Cardinals will wait to be sure no one wows them to drop down to #1 (which they won't) and they draft Kyler Murray. Both teams are happy with results. maybe just wishful thinking.

    Starting QB 2019???

With our front office's history of botched actions, this one actually looks like a shrewd move. Keenum is as good as any of the 1 year rental QBs (better than most) and was brought in on a team friendly deal. Considering the uncertainty of Smith's return and the lost cost of his salary the team was limited in their options. If this is the last QB move of the year I can life with it. if it turns in as fuel for a Rosen trade even better. I like Rosen better than any of the QBs in this draft and would love to give him a shot to be our franchise QB. HTTR!

    Starting QB 2019???

If we can get Josh Rosen with a second round pick I would jump on it. Cardinals eat the $10 mil signing bonus and we get a potential future franchise QB. Take a good football player with the 15 pick, fill the roster holes with the other picks and free agency.
