  1. I wonder if with the 17 game schedule we see a trend of teams carrying two lead backs, and 4 backs total.

Sharing the load between two RBs seems way more sustainable than expecting anyone outside of backs like prime Adrian Peterson to last 17 games.

Backup RB may become a priority moving forward. Who becomes our bell-cow when Antonio Gibson's turf toe flares up for two weeks? I guess the answer is Jarrett Patterson for now.

Or maybe this is all a non-issue for our particular team since we aren't a traditional power run scheme. Maybe we just spread the load out between AG, JP, and McKissick evenly

Either way I can totally see a two-headed monster trend coming back in the NFL though.

It is. Every one of @DC Lumber Co. arguments come from the same exact ass holes Ron is talking about.

Take this particularly stupid example of devolution

it comes directly from Fox News. He didn’t just fart out this nonsense all his own.

Lol try again. I got the vax. I just stand firmly against encroaching on people's freedom.

Including freedom of speech. And for what it's worth, I don't watch any news Fox or otherwise. But you clearly show how open minded you are by assuming things...

Didn't know it was a crime to form your own opinions.

Heard it on Joe Rogan. Sounds legit. 🤪

Here's a news article about side effects. They use science n stuff from the CDC.

Isn't the CDC the agency that has changed their stance on masks 15 times?

  4. These threads are destined to result in political arguments. Every. Time.

I'm a libertarian, so I firmly oppose vaccine mandates. You can lead a horse to water but cannot force it to drink. All we can do is provide education and hope that people choose to take the vaccine. But you cannot force anyone to do anything.

I look at Australia and am terrified of what's going on there.

And before anyone says I'm an anti-vaxxer... I got the jab. I just don't support forcing anyone to do anything.

I do not provide medical advice. Only your doctor can do so. What's sad is that people with MS and other illnesses that have taken the advice of their doctor to not get the vaccine cannot go to a restaurant in NYC. That's wildly authoritarian and draconian, and it's wrong.

You don't have to agree with someone's personal decision, wether it be religious or due to their doctors advice.

On an episode of Joe Rogan, I heard there are doctors AFRAID to talk about patients that are having adverse side effects from the vaccine out of fear of public backlash. That is also wrong.

Unfortunately we cannot discuss this because it gets immediately shot down as "misinformation" or "anti-vaxxer"

The locker room won't turn on each other as long as no games are lost. If it comes to game lost, paychecks lost, and playoffs lost, then I expect the locker room to be boiling.

Very small risk of any of that happening. Didn't last year and now half the team is vaccinated. Will probably be a higher percentage after roster cuts to 53. Follow the same protocols as we did last year and it will be fine.

BTW, Chase Young is overrated.  The hype extends way beyond actual performance.

He certainly has the potential to live up to the hype.  Let's see if it happens. His vax stance won't help.

Lol. I promise you Chase Young will be a generational talent. He was a rookie last year, just look at the 2nd year jump that Khalil Mack and other top tier pass rushers always make from year 1 to year 2.

    DROY, Overrated.... LMAO

  7. Teammates will likely defend their brothers decisions to get vaccinated or not. You can't make anyone do a damn thing.

You make your best case to them and give them all the information. At the end of the day it is their decision and you must respect a person's right to choose what they put into their body. Just as Rivera said when the initial sweat story broke.

At some point you have to move forward and say, okay. If something happens we rally behind "next man up". We respect our fellow teammates decision and we will follow protocols to the letter, just as we did last season. The players who choose to pay fines made their decision, and will pay the piper if they test positive. End of story.

The likelihood of it causing a mass breakout and causing us to forfeit a game is slim compared to last year imo.

Unlike the rest of the nation, the locker room isn't going to turn on each other over someone's right to choose to get vaccinated or not. Period. Isn't happening.

I will support all players just the same, if you want to boycott wearing certain jerseys because they chose not to get vaccinated, that's also your choice as well.

You can't pick and choose when you demand support of science either. What about the science that there are only 2 genders? Do we demand that everyone go by the science on that? But that's a whole different subject, one more suited for the tailgate.

For the record. Im vaccinated, Im just a libertarian and will always support the freedoms of my fellow Americans. Freedom of speech without censorship, freedom of choice (and living with consequences of those choices).

Forcing ANYONE to do ANYTHING sets a precedent that could get very scary, very quickly. There is plenty of historical examples of this. See any socialist/communist government, ever.

If a person is Muslim and getting a vaccine is against their religion, wouldnt forcing them to get one be religious discrimination?

  8. Even if Taylor doesn't win the job outright, I could totally see a rotation of sorts when Fitz has his expected bad games. Gets pulled after two interceptions and Heinicke finishes out the game.

Or a ride the hot hand approach, play Fitz until a bad game then start Heinicke until he has a bad game then go back to Fitz.

So is Montez Sweat going to continue to wear a mask and socially distance until he gets the vaccine?

Masks are ineffective. Cases are steadily declining. He can do what he wants with his body. It's a free country. You can't force someone to get a vaccine.

If he gets covid, he will quarantine until cleared...

I know everyone is going to act like this is the end of the world, but it isn't.

Yet another example of why current issues and politics shouldn't be in sports. I don't care what montez sweat feels about vaccines.

  10. Most excited about the Shaka Toney reports. If he ends up being the Bruce Irvin of our defense, along with the addition of Jamin Davis... Our defense is going to be lights out.

Toney at Sam / hybrid edge rusher is exactly what we need.

Please let this be a year we have good luck on the injury front. The potential of this team is incredible.

  11. When faced with the issue of choosing a defensive lineman I'd be willing to trade... I think it's Allen.

In a perfect world I'd obviously love to keep the entire line intact. But Payne is our best run stuffer so I think he stays. I think the combination of Settle & MI98 could equal the production of Allen.

Again, this is a worst case scenario... But if we can't pay them all I think Allen would be my trade bait. A lot of this also hinges on if ioannidis can stay healthy this year as well.

  12. Preseason will be very telling.

Worth noting he's also wearing number 58. Traditionally that's a LB number moreso than a DE number.

I hope he flashes enough at OLB that they fully commit to him there. Dream scenario is he's this year's Kam Curl and locks down a starting job. But I would be more than happy if he earned the primary backup OLB and gets situational snaps this year and it takes him until next year to become a full time starter.

  13. The Giants were taking Jamin Davis at 20 if we had not drafted him. I don't see how that could be considered a reach by any means.

I'd rather take arguably the best linebacker in the class over the 2nd/3rd/4th best OT/CB/WR

Parsons was off our board due to character, and JOK fell due to a combo of medical and being a tweener.

Is there a risk due to 1 year of production? Sure. But our Coaches have a proven track record of identifying good linebackers. It's also a very good possibility that if Jamin had another year of experience that he wouldn't have been available at 19.

I'm very confident in this pick, even if it takes him half a season for it to really "click" for him. I think we look back at this draft pick as a steal when it's all said and done.

  14. Toney looked fantastic covering TEs at the senior bowl. I really hope that's what we saw in him. Let him play SAM and be a threat as an extra blitzer.

It will be interesting to see what the LB depth chart looks like week 1. Has Rivera or JDR come out and said what position Jamin will play?

Jamin Davis at Will, Bostic at MLB and a rotation of Holcomb/Toney at SAM?

I get more excited about the idea of a Holcomb (WILL) - Davis (MIKE) - Toney (SAM) lineup.

I’m good with trading up for Moehring if it’s for a swap of picks.  If it’s outright trading away a 3rd, I just question how much more impact Moehring would have over say Richie Grant and Michael Carter, or Cisco and Carman, etc.  The FS class seems pretty deep this year and frankly, while Meohring would be a really nice add, there a bunch of others, some with higher ceilings in terms of athleticism.

Bottom line, the depth of the positions we still need to fill - FS, Wr, and T (and even linebacker) - plus the guys like Rbs Willams/Carter, corners Samuel/Molden/Campbell or TEs Freir/Jordan/Tremble that could be big for us really give me pause in terms of trading up.  JMO of course.

Agreed. Don't think there are any Montez Sweat-Level talents worth trading up for vs. taking what falls to us.

If anything I'd rather a slight trade down to give us more bites at the apple in the sweet spot of this draft (rds 2-4)

Edit: if we take a guard I'd also love to see us be smart and trade scherff for picks as well.
