  1. Washington Post, January 17 2023 https://wapo.st/3IUa9ee Bezos’s pursuit of an NFL team could become complicated if he chooses to return to Amazon as its CEO, a role he ceded to Andy Jassy in July 2021. Several business publications, including Fortune, reported this month that is a possibility, based on analyst forecasts. NFL team owners and league executives could view that as a conflict, given that Amazon pays the NFL roughly $1 billion annually to carry the league’s “Thursday Night Football” package. As the owner of an NFL franchise, Bezos would have access to privileged financial information relevant to future broadcast negotiations.
  2. This part of the promo video from the Commanders on EB’s first day cracked me up. Reporter asks how excited he is to work with such talent like “Sam Howell, Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, the list goes on…” Some Howell Hype there!! All in all a fun watch:
  3. You mean worse than being accused of sexual assault? Orgies with hookers on business trips? Pretty sure this has been the assumption from the start - perhaps not that BofA actually would not allow him to bid but that Dan’s hatred of the Post would mean he wouldn’t get it. It makes sense he wouldn’t be allowed though because once he bids he would win. There is one actual reason to genuinely block him at this point though - my understanding from earlier reports is that Amazon would have to end their TV rights deal with the NFL for him to buy a team. He’s letting the NFL (and Dan) know he’s prepared to buy a team. If he doesn’t buy the Commanders, he can buy the Seahawks. I agree with everyone else that this is all from intentional leaks to the press. Bezos leaks he’s working with the sports investment bank, so Dan leaks he can’t bid. He genuinely does not want Bezos to own it, but if it doesn’t push his current bids higher he may sell to Bezos if he pays enough. That’s all this back and forth is saying - Dan will NEVER sell to Bezos (unless it becomes financially ridiculous not to).
  4. Yes this is getting lost in all the thread I think. He LOWERED the asking price. Best sign yet he’s selling. Essentially, he quit as Amazon’s CEO and President so he would have time to pursue other interests. He showed up a month or two ago at the Washington Post offices and sat in on all the news editor meetings. This is not likely given the facts. Might want to hold off on calling a Black man “articulate.” That said, I agree he is a typical consultant (he came from McKinsey!) but he did do some good things since he arrived. He instituted actual concession discounts for season ticket holders. He announced that the waiting list was not real and began selling tickets transparently for full price (which increased the resale value for tickets). The stadium grass improved (at least the looks). He started some other halfway decent perks for season ticket holders (he is hemmed by Snyder). He seemed to contribute to the turnaround externally of the team culture to not be so sexist and racist. Bruce, as we know, was a despicable human being when he was hired and when he left. Jason I think does his best within the confines of keeping his job; and he knew who he was going to be working for when he was hired. I also am curious to see what he does under new ownership. He obviously will be losing his job if Dan doesn’t sell. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮
  5. I am not at all interested in Bezos. Let‘a have someone who put in a bid buy the team. Bezos is another a-hole with 0 sports experience who is absolutely all about the revenue. As folks said he has a reputation for being cheap. He has billions of dollars and has been doing layoffs at the Post (like getting rid of the whole Sunday mag and all its staff, including Pulitzer Prize winners) after a non-profitable year. He bought it 10 years ago for $250m and excellent staff have also been leaving the now click-bait first culture the whole time. If that’s how he handles “saving the Post,” no thanks saving our team. I know people who worked for Amazon during his reign and they hated it. He does not treat his employees well - it’s all about putting money in his pocket. This same guy spends millions himself a seat on a rocket to launch himself into space. I’d rather not trade Snyder for this dude.
  6. I wonder how many other former STHs were lost this year when Dan decided to sell but still hasn’t. I told my ticket rep I might re-up if he sells even though I moved out of the area last summer (and yes I am definitely all-in on the battered fan syndrome). We were supposed to say by Jan 20. Of course they are still asking but seats go up for relo on 2/25. I love the EB for OC news but if Snyder still owns the team I see a lot of fans dropping out.
  7. Hey the Cowboys made the switch so you know Dan had to: https://seatgeek.com/press/washington-commanders-select-seatgeek-s-technology-platform-to-fuel-digital-ticketing-transformation-strategy
  8. I’m another former Josh client! I have Chance now. He’s awful. I’m still waiting for ANY of the swag from the season tickets purchase this year. Including the jersey of course. I know folks got the other stuff at the game. I told him I needed them mailed to me and he said they were in the mail and nada. Anyone get their jersey yet? I’m debating whether to renew this year. I moved 8 hours away by car from the DC area. With the new system of not pretending to have a wait list, I have been able to sell all the tickets for games I didn’t attend for enough to justify the spend. But… I mean I don’t even live there. I love my seats (Sec 202) but would you renew? It’s a harder decision than I expected. (Only 2023 season ticket holders or considering respond please - I know I’m a sucker already thanks.)
  9. How were y’all informed about picking up the goods? (Also waiting on my jersey…) I’m out of state and was actually in town and at the Titans game. Thanks, Joy
  10. Geez I already had checked “opt out call me in April” and didn’t even notice the price difference. Thanks y’all. I’m in Sec 202 (the symmetrical same seats as your brother’s) and also went from $1309 to $1399 per seat. In the past, we have been told about any price changes in our renewal invite. I had already noticed the part that I get one more event to go to with my fan deal, no other perks, and now instead of being promised a bunch of swag I am still waiting for (ironically, car flags were one of last years bucket o’ perks that we haven’t received), this time we are promised a hat! The 10% off for paying in full is still more than last year due to the increase. I’m honestly surprised at the **** job they've done this year compared to last. I’ve come to expect more from Jason Wright. P.S. I saw someone else said they got their duffel at a game. Who else has gotten ANYTHING they promised as a perk for buying this year? I’ve only received the extra swag (shirt, hat, and cup) that wasn’t part of the deal.
  11. I switched to the Business Network theme and will be attending OTAs one morning first week of June.
  12. Ultra info from renewal: - Film sessions with Washington Coaches and Front Office Personnel - Private shopping event at the Washington Football Team Store only available to Washington Gold Ultra Members! Stock up on new branded merchandise with a special one-day discount! - Host your personal fantasy football draft in a suite at FedExField! Washington Alumni will be on-hand serving as special advisors in a fully catered private suite - Cheer on the Burgundy & Gold during an away game with complimentary food and beverage, alumni meet & greets, and other special opportunities
  13. I am signed up for Ultra but I meant to do the business/networking one which sounds like the one you described SkinsFan. I didn’t ask if I could switch cause I doubt I’ll do any of it but maybe. I tend not to make the trip to FedEx unless it’s a game although I have been to a draft day party in the past when my kid was younger. As far as I know there haven’t been any events for Ultra yet.
  14. Has your online slot opened yet? Maybe people who were there just moved today?
  15. Huh. Crickets as the online relocation times opened? Mine was at 9am this morning. AMAZING the seat selection available. Nothing I want to move to, but still... I'm going to say the renewals are in deep doodoo. This is the first year I've been able to move anywhere I want to I believe - before you had to stick at the same price point or one higher - so I can see all the unsold dream seats, the 76 tickets available in the 50 yd line home side club section... Still, the true fans know that the 200s are where it's at. Slim to none pickings in the middle where I am. When last I looked there's a pair in section 221 though if you don't mind sitting with the enemies. Joy
  16. What’s available on the complimentary food menu? Can you only get the free food and drinks at sections 314 and 336 like they said in the renewal email? Do you have to wait in line? Trying to see the appeal. Thanks!
  17. My rep sent me the email. I RSVP'ed. You have the options: 1. Yes I'll attend. 2. No I won't attend and I don't want to relocate. 3. No I won't attend but I am interested in relocating. I chose the 3rd option so we'll see what happens! Thanks again for the heads up! Until the emails are fixed I really appreciate knowing these crucial ones I'm missing...
  18. So this is Seat Relocation - they are combining it with select-a-seat. Interesting. I didn’t get this email either but my rep is working on that… Do you get more info when you RSVP? Is it only in person and not online?
  19. Thanks for the heads up on the email! My ticket rep responded this morning and I got the t-shirt. As far as the name, I’m mostly just relieved / happy to have the name change done. I wouldn’t have chosen Commanders myself but I also wouldn’t have vetoed it. Like others have said (who aren’t general haters), it’s pretty bland. I also don’t love the military tie-in. Hopefully they are serious about having fan input to the mascot and maybe that can make it less militaristic. I also think it will lend itself nicely to some cool costumes - Star Trek fans can dress like Worf, Data, Riker; Star Wars fans the Mandalorian (Mando has been floated as a nickname), Wing Commander… etc. (just no Nazis or Handmaid’s Tale please). As far as the process, well, I don’t expect any better from Snyder. I think Jason Wright is doing the best he can given his constraints (he’ll be fired if he doesn’t make it seem like “Mr. Snyder” is the smartest person in the room). Rumor has it that Commanders was Snyder’s original pick when the team put out that first press release - before whoever convinced him that it was a horrific move to name the team on his own. As I recall, someone on here mentioned going to a focus group led by Code and Theory, who were the brand consultants, that basically was just telling them Commanders was the choice and not really seeking honest input. It also seems that people (maybe just the haters…) are forgetting that everything but the name is temporary. So for the temporary things… The main logo - I liked the WFT “W” better but the new one looks fine as long as there’s a burgundy background (it should be encased in a shape but it isn’t…). The crest (aka the patch) - I like this a lot except I wouldn’t have included the Super Bowl years. The uniforms - I love the addition of the black away uniform. I also very much like the home burgundy. The white so far looks terrible. I don’t know if it just doesn’t photograph right but the purplish red and lack of gold (I think it’s part of the gradient in the numbers?) are both making it look very off brand. The wordmark - nice and clean. So what do you think the nickname for Commanders is going to be? Must there be one? All the other 3 syllable teams have shortened versions (Cards, 9ers, Jags, Pats, Bucs).
  20. I didn’t get the email either. Just sent an email to my ticket rep. I realize I haven’t gotten anything from the team since the end of the season…
  21. Ha! Mine just called and said still under 500! I also have a ticket rep that has been in touch all season, by the way. I renewed. We are all on the suckers list together! And yes good point about the STH at the game yesterday, especially with the secondary market prices being so high with the Super Bowl champs coming to town 😉
  22. The fine print says that the 11 months is just for this year and would switch to 12 months next year. I think it’s cause the monthly plans auto-renew with an opt-out notification. In other words, it becomes a “monthly” plan with an annual opt-out. Since they won’t start payments until January 1, I guess the opt out will be prior to the December 1 payment. Also, it says in the FAQ “All pricing is staying flat or decreasing. In fact, over 11,000 seats in the Club and Upper Level will see a price decrease going into the 2022 season.” Joy
  23. I am skeptical that the NFL cares at all about game attendance besides an owner proposing to change cities. They care about broadcast contract renewals (which is dependent on ratings) and sponsorships. The emails show that the NFL executives have just as horrific characters as Dan and Bruce. Dan said he would NEVER change the name until FedEx and Pepsi threatened to pull out. Once he changed course, he sent out an email saying he has decided on a new name after talking with sponsors and will announce it soon. Fortunately, someone (Jason Wright?) told him it was idiotic to not include the fans and focus groups in the decision (I know reporters wrote about it too). My imagined conversation of this was, "We'll keep the colors the same and just call it the Washington Football team for now. We'll sell a bunch of new gear, but not have to change much with the stadium signage even after we rebrand again. Then when we do make the permanent change, we'll sell even MORE new gear but Washington and burgundy and gold will remain so no stadium changes will be needed. Look at Art Modell and the Ravens (who we know you hate, Mr. Snyder, so we can't let folks have the wrong perception and think he's better than you) - they took a long time for the process and built up good will towards the team name and it took off. We have no product on the field and no stars to sell merch and jerseys otherwise. Think of the money we'll make to cover the expenses of the change and not just the money we'll save by not losing sponsors." Other ways that came up to save money: - Change the tickets to all digital so we don't have to rebrand paper tickets or even print them at all. - Postpone the change another year so we can sell more merch since no one was going to games. I believe the only things the NFL management and Dan Snyder care about - MONEY and THEMSELVES. So, ways that a fan can affect those: - Stop buying merch (not going to happen with the name change) - Stop buying tickets (already happening but will immediately change if we start winning) - Stop watching the games on TV. - Start boycotting sponsors of the team and make it known you will do so until Snyder sells So, if one does the above, except for the last action, how exactly are they a fan of the team? Perhaps we stop being fans until Snyder sells? P.S. Thanks for the apology. It is irksome that people choose to post here to just give us STH a hard time.
  24. Yep. You get the same half off all concessions deal as the regular lines for Gold members. Otherwise, why would any STH use it? As for GrubHub, that has its own issues… from the WFT side of course. 1. sometimes items show as “sold out” but if you check again, they aren’t. 2. sometimes items are available for purchase but then sell out while you are checking out causing an error. 3. it will helpfully tell you the wait time but at least one vendor was not updating any orders, thus the app said there was a 40 minute wait and then the order was never completed. It turned out that one person was filling orders as you proceeded through the GrubHub pickup line. Which by then took more time than purchasing the item from the regular line. I know that some of this is not WFT alone - service staff shortages are country-wide. Many establishments that have crowds nonetheless are raising their wages as a result. My guess is that WFT has not.
