  1. this NYE Yarennoka event is reminding me alot of Pride. same atmosphere and pretty good fights so far
  2. i swear i gotta bad feeling about that fight. i could easily see Sylvia using his reach to keep Nog at bay. Even though he handled Herring pretty well after the initial knockdown scare, Big Nog looked slow, almost like the years of battles caught up with him. I hope it was just him getting used UFC and the whole atmosphere behind that, but Sylvia has just enough skills to make you hate him because he's a tough out.
  3. he's faced good competition, its not like the guys he fought in the UFC were complete bums: 1. Leben: his first fight in the UFC, Leben doesn't have much skill, but has a good chin that Anderson shot through in about 60 secs. 2. Franklin x2: regardless of the way Anderson dominated him, Rich is still a top 5 middleweight. He would beat just about anyone at middleweight not named Silva, Hendo, Filho, or Lindland. dominating a top 5 mw is impressive 3. Marquardt: top 10 mw when they fought, was use take Silva down at will and control the fight. Silva walked through him. 4. Lutter: the only fight that is weak on his UFC resume. Not like he had a choice in fighting since he won The Ultimate Fighter. Anderson had surgery on both knees a couple of months before the fight and still submitted him. he can only fight who they put in front of him, so you can only judge him based on that.
  4. its not so much who he has beaten, its the fact that he has demolished everyone he fought.
  5. to further your point, Silva said in an interview he walks around 205
  6. he's a smart fighter, but in plenty of his fights, his striking goes wild at moments. and he does it enough to the point that it would be a problem against someone as accurate as Silva.
  7. GSP is better than Fitch at every facet in the game. i think Fitch is good enough to not be finished, but GSP would beat him pretty convincingly, and Fitch is one of my favorite fighters.
  8. Hendo will be a monster test no doubt, but Hendo fights better at the lhw. i think the weight cut actually affects him to some degree. remember not too long ago, he was known as "decision" Dan Henderson. he has had problems against lesser strikers than Anderson (Misaki). Henderson definitely has a good chance of winning the fight, i just don't think he will Dan has crazy power, but he isn't that technical. his power comes from that looping shots that i think Anderson will be able to avoid. Yes, Hendo's chin is legend, but i think Silva is so accurate that he can stun Henderson over the course of the fight and follow up forcing the ref to stop the fight. once again, i can't pick fights for **** as evidenced by my last few choices on ppv matches, but i see Silva winning this fight by late round ref stoppage actually.:2cents:
  9. i got any price covered on that bet, name your price i like Hendo, but i'm taking Silva in that fight.
  10. his balance is ridiculous. in his last 2 fights he has absolutely dominated two of the best wrestlers the UFC has to offer at their own game. he not only defends their takedowns, but takes them down as well. the man is unstoppable if his head in the fight.
  11. event lived up to the hype some quick observations: 1. i can't pick fights for ****. GSP was the only one i got right, since i flipped a coin for Sanchez/Paleli fight. 2. Machida will give anyone @ 205 problems. 3. Wandy is done as fighter, too many wars. Chuck beat him fair, but Wandy didn't clinch when he had the chance, and didn't show that aggressiveness the couple of times he rocked Chuck. 4. GSP is a beast. his only obstacle is his own mind. if his mind is right nobody at 170 beats him.
  12. my picks for UFC 79: Eddie Sanchez vs. Soa Palalei: don't particularly care about this fight, not really sure why its on the main card. i flipped a coin, Eddie won. Eddie Sanchez by UD Melvin Guillard vs. Rich Clementi: Melvin has all the physical ability to be successful, but is a head case. kinda like a lightweight version of Kevin Randleman in that sense. Still he has some serious power in his hands, and i think he'll connect one on Rich before he can mentally breakdown. Melvin Guillard by KO, round 1 Machida vs. Sokoudjou: the fight i'm most looking forward to on the card. Machida is an excellent, albeit boring, counter-puncher. He gameplans very well. Soko is an explosive fighter with some serious power. He also has some damn good Judo, although he hasn't had to use it in a fight yet. Machida doesn't have KO power, and if Soko withstood Arona's takedown attempt, i don't see Machida getting him down. I think Soko will be able to aggressively move in on Machida since he doesn't have to respect his power. I see Soko connecting with something in Round 2 to put Machida away. Sokoudjou by KO, round 2 Liddell vs. Silva: could easily go either way. Silva's aggressive style could play right into Chuck's countering style. Chuck is the older fighter though, and i think the initial burst that Silva throws at him may catch by surprise. even match up, goin back and forth until Silva drops Liddell with a punch in round 2 and finishes with ground and pound. Silva by TKO, round 2 St. Pierre vs. Hughes: i don't see how Hughes can win this fight honestly. their 2nd fight, Hughes was dominated everywhere. Hughes standup is pretty poor for such a high-caliber fighter, which is really a testament to how strong his wrestling is. However St. Pierre has proven time and time again that he has some of the best wrestling in MMA. He not only took Koscheck down, but defended takedowns from Koschek as well. Hughes could not get him down in their 2nd fight, i don't see him taking St. Pierre down in this fight. St. Pierre by TKO, round 2
  13. my only fear is that the past huge cards haven't quite been as exciting as i expected them to be (UFC: Stacked comes to mind) i'm expecting really great things from this UFC 79. Oddly enough the match i'm most looking forward to is Sokodjou vs. Machida  i'll drop my picks for the event after i see the weigh-ins (gotta see if Chuck is still rocking the beer gut  )
  14. JZ had to pull out of his match with Aoki on the NYE eve card with an injury. Aoki will fight an opponent to be announced.
  15. he has a who's who of mma on his fight record. he has fought damn near only the best people in the world. face that many top guys in the industry, he'll have losses on his record. i remember rampage saying in an interview that Randleman hit him the hardest he has ever been hit by a punch. he had as much natural talent as anyone in the business, shame his head didn't match.
  16. i wouldn't have a problem with what they're doing to Arlovski except for the fact that the guy he beat, Werdum, is in a headline fight against Gonzaga at UFC 80 i believe. i don't understand how the guy arlovski beat, albeit a boring decision, gets a major fight before him. Its not like Werdum did anything of worth in that fight (excluding the infamous pimp slap  )
  17. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=5285&zoneid=13 Arlovski should've had a fight by now
  18. Koscheck trains with AKA, Randy corners for Karo definitely and a couple of others that are slipping my mind.
  19. thats the million dollar question. his last two fights he seemed to tire a bit towards the end, even though he won the 3rd against Tito, he was still sucking wind. then he slowed down again against bisping as the fight went on. I'm not sure how cutting and extra 20 would affect him but if he can handle the cut, he definitely should. I don't see him competing with any of the big dogs at 205, but he could make some waves at MW.
  20. i should've clarified myself. I was referring to Rashad Evans
  21. truth be told i think Evans should drop to 185 as well.
  22. i'm lookin forward to the JZ vs. Shinya Aoki on the dec. 31 card
  23. yeah i heard it when i rewatched the event yesterday. i still don't understand why he even tried to take Filho down. Chael was easily winning the standup battle. I think he got a little too comfortable and abandoned what could've potentially won him the fight.
  24. if Jardine put forrest on his ass, Rampage might literally punch right through him
