Reports out of Chicago are they are not even taking calls on Fields, yet.
BS.
No one's meeting their asking price, so they're saving face.

Other than Tom Brady, who was in a unique situation, name me one professional athlete who didn't try to maximize their income in their short window of opportunity. He was just better at it than others. For this he is hated for being smart? Not in my book.
I think the fact he's signing to his third team and receiving yet another big payday paints him as a detached mercenary, add on top of that the stark inequivalence between his performance and expectations of him as manifested by his compensation, and it paints him as a detached mercenary who doesn't produce.

We'll see, Minnesota and Denver are still QB hamstrung but I would think you're right. Vegas signing Minshew is probably a great indicator that us and NE aren't budging..
I wonder what the G men will do for QB, now that the FA market is not a solution and it’ll seem unlikely that can trade up to secure a top 3 rookie. Wait until next year and ride with Jones for one more season, or trade draft capital for a legit vet? -

I always laugh when people call pro athletes greedy.
The NFL makes billions. BILLIONS.
You'd rather the owners pocket the money?
Society issues a greater allowance for greed to barons and elites since, as personifications of greed, they're entitled to behave in accordance with their nature.

Eh the way he is going he's going to be Dan Marino in the stats category.. Dan never got a ring but he is in the HoF
Dan was also a generational talent, won an MVP, broke a ton of passing records, played for a legendary coach, and is still a god in Miami.

Cousins will go down as one of the savviest QBs to ever game the system. Mad respect.
I think we deserve some credit for molding him into a pragmatic, cynical businessman early on in his career. There were no NFL fairytales around here. Playing for slimeballs like Bruce and Snyder taught him quickly.

It's great that Howell has so much value. Even Keim believes they can get a third for him. I believe some teams may value him more than Fields because of his contract.
I think we need Sam this year, to help bring the rookie QB along through competition and collaboration.
Plus we could get more for Howell next season.
If he's put in a few games to spell the rookie (e.g., big lead, or injury) and he exhibits flashes of brilliance in this offense - maybe win us a couple of game - his stock will rise. I just think it's a short-sighted move to let him go this season for what arguably could be chump change.

You can't get out of anywhere for under $80-$100 if you have a date or wife with you, unless its like some big box, franchise ---- restaurant. We just went to a Chinese New Year Dinner a few weeks ago and came out $300 poorer. Just a Fixed Price, 5 item menu, did not matter, and this is Reno.
If we go to the top French Restaurant in Reno, we're paying $35-$75 on Mains alone, any apps, charcuterie plate, the famed French Onion, were out another $25-$40, then there's corkage, and boom, for two people you're hitting $175-$250 easy.
All that being said, I'll still take that over a big box dinner at like Chilli's or whatever.
I cant do the steakhouses because its just too.....meh. I want to taste something I can't cook myself. I know how to make a very, very good if not Morton's level steak at home. But a Roasted Duck, with a Marionerry-Red Wine Reduction? Mmmmmm, not at their level. Can't render the fat or cook the duck hot enough (kind of like making a pizza at home, versus an Italian Style sort of Brick kinda oven thing that's wood fired. Just not the same. I try to go to places where they are making dishes I can't produce myself (in fairness, I can make an adequate Blackberry-Red Wine reduction for Elk, so half of the duck dish I can do in my own half ----- manner).
This guy.

If Ertz can give us 3-5 first downs a game, the money's worth it.

Why would any free agent QB (Cousins, Wilson, etc) want to come to Washington? We have one (1) offensive lineman.
Running for one's life every passing down adds excitement in an otherwise stationary position, and if we can somehow incorporate that language as a positive in the job description I'm sure candidates will look at the scenario differently.

I maintain EB and Snyder struck a secret deal to make him HC if Ron botched the season or “retired.” He didn’t expect to see his benefactor and co-conspirator get exiled from the NFL.

I trust our braintrust to make the right move.
If Chicago is willing and we trade up, then it better work out. The price you have to pay, means it better work out.
If we decide to trade down, then it also needs to work out. The qb you draft will have to be as good or better, than the qbs you missed out on trading down.
Quinn doesn’t survive a qb failure. Peters probably doesn’t survive a qb failure if we trade up. He probably gets a second chance if there’s a qb failure by standing Pat or trading down.
I agree about Quinn. Peters...it'll depend on the composite and value of the roster. If he nails everything but the QB (which is the hardest position to nail), I can see Harris giving him another shot, even after he reached for the one.

So if the Jets offered a 4th round pick from Sam Howell would you say no?
I would say no. He could help bring up the new #1 and whatever experience he can share with the starter would be worth more than a 4th rounder. Plus we need a quality backup. Also, if he spells the QB in a few games this season and plays well, his value would increase next year for QB-starved teams.

Dan sure loves his backwards hats. I wonder if he has his hat like that on the sidelines as a head coach. His days in Atlanta feel like decades ago, so I don't remember. It doesn't matter to me if he does or doesn't, just curious. Some people ( especially old curmudgeons) may find it unprofessional.

Cousins might want to go to a competitive team with a shot at the title, as it would most likely be his last rodeo (at least as a starter). He had his shot in Minnesota with Diggs and Thielen at their prime, and a strong running game, but he squandered that golden opportunity and I’m not convinced he’ll find another like that.

DC will likely go all in to host Washington. The city has taken so many Ls lately, I just can’t see it taking another one.

Listening to Eagles sports radio this morning and they said they are jealous of Andy Reid's success. They think Kansas City can win at least two
more Super Bowls over the next few years.
Andy learned from the Philly experience not to hitch your future on an average QB. Had he moved on from McNabb a lot sooner, I think he would have won a chip or two for that town.

I don't really question Daniels's intangibles either. My issue with him is his age diluting his upside and production and the fact that his passing is reliant on his running ability. Those type of QBs do not sustain and mobility/athleticism drops off quick. Look at Lamar Jackson. He's 27 and already not as fast as he once was(he's still super fast). And Jackson came into the league at 21, not 23 like JD will be(he'll actually turn 24 his rookie year).
And then of course there is the one read and run style of offense, the body type/durability issues...yikes. Now if we were picking 3rd he'd still be absolutely worth taking a shot and I'd be thrilled with the upside, but taking him over Maye, who is also extremely high ceiling without having anywhere near as low a floor, just isn't logical to me.
Valid concerns. I wonder if the age factor can be mitigated as he develops more and more into a traditional pocket passer, less reliant on his scrambling ability. -
Bears only have the leverage if you allow them to have the leverage. They’d love nothing more than to trade down to #2, get their guy anyway, and have an additional high round pick in 2025. They would have fleeced Snyder.
Let’s just stick with #2, let some other team mortgage their future to Chicago like Carolina did. If we can’t train up Drake or JD to be the franchise QB we need, then we don’t have the right coaches in the building.
