  1. Wanted to post this separately.

BTW While listening to Josh Harris on Audacy, and can I just say, that at tims he stammered a bit, some uhms fo rexample, but man, even if he's a little uncomfortable, he's so much more well thought and spoken than Snyder EVER was. He may not like being the center of attention but appreciates the solem nature of this and the importance, and significance of this to the entire Nation here.

I think we are blessed to have an ownership group that includes him.

  2. Shehan I think descriped an idea where:

                                            President/ Head of Football Operations
Other Presidents (marketing for example), General Manager, Coach  all reporting to the president.

So instead of the GM gettting a turnstile of coaches when the GM fails to manage the team well, and vice versa the gm getting fired when the Coach can't coach talent.  You can separate each's record instead of it being a chain.

It's more likely the agents of the coaching candidates are leaking to the media, and our ownership group is not. Keim has said time and again how tight lipped and measured they are.

Russini sounds bitter that no one in the bldg is leaking to her.

This is a fair point, if they aren't leaking to shefter it could be agents, will that play a factor in who Washington picks?  If we aren't leaking, then the question is, who is not being mentioned that may be flying under the radar.  Bruce used to be famous for his smoke screens that weren't.  This much noise could be done to throw off other teams.

Not saying that's what they are doing, though.

btw, noone's talking about Spielman's connections in bringing Cousins to Minny? Cousins back to DC? Trade back add picks, pick up 3 new OL and a new Edge Rusher? Who knows

Bob Myers has an impressive executive resume - in basketball.

Does it matter that his background includes nothing related to football at any level?

The answer as always is it depends.  How much scouting does the GM do his or herself?  If you build a good scouting group and you trust them, then you can often defer to them.  People seem to think being GM is like being GM/owner in Madden.  There is more to it than just picking players.

    Also interviewing a legit candidate.

They still have EB so they could meet that rule interviewing him..also considered a legit candidate...by someone I guess

According to screen shots posted by another reporter, and I wasn't clear if it was Front Office canddiates only or HC positions too, they want them to interview 2 miniority candidates from OUTSIDE of their team's current pay roll.  Assuming that's legit, EB can't satisfy it.

I was just about to say this, they may be trying to lock in the best candidates sooner, to get an idea how they think, but also because a lot of clubs may not wait long to hire.  IE RAiders, Carolina.

We have roughly 60M in cap space and roughly  8 picks in the draft. Some of that money has to re-sign guys we’d like to keep e.g. Curl .

Sport Trac has us with $12,093,648 of left over cap from 2023 that carries over.  I can't remembe the last time I saw that.

They have a top 51 in 24 of $85,284,132  That's before any retention signings, extensions, or restructures from here I believe.

I heard Josh Harris was elbow dropping fired coaches from the tops of the lockers.

Just a rumor tho. Take it w/ a grain of salt.

I'm laughing at the WWE memes, but Someone needs to take a picture macho man flying off the rope with an elbow put harris head on it, then have the poster child of our woes this season, JDR on the mat being the target.  I don't care if this actually happened, a MEME is good enough for me ;)

Not so sure about that yet.

    From this ESPN article: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39264819/ron-rivera-fired-former-gms-advise-commanders-overhaul

So we are keeping the GM to help find a new head coach, then determining if they will stay or not afterwards....I don't like this approach.  Thinking outside the box and bringing in Myers is one thing, letting the current GM and Executive VP of Football/Player Personnel assist in any way turns me off.  They needed to clean house and should have started looking for a new VP and GM before the season ended and hired them immediately after, imo.

ARticles for ESPN with Shefter plus... Woj? Sounds like Hearny (sp?) and Mayhew are retained through the process.  You likely need them for some of the offseason operations until the new hire is in place, we might be overreacting just a tad, that Mayhew hasn't already been shown the door.

  9. I think Kevin S or one of the guys on the Junkies said that Spielman might have been the architect of Cousins to Minny.  So I don't know if Cousins is under contract up there or not, but is it crazy to think he might come back here for a couple of years while we rebuild everything?

That's gotta be a crazy thought right?

Compare the stats. Watch the film.

It shouldn’t be a 5th round vs a 1st rounder. Both should have/should be mid first rounders.

They are nearly identical statistically. It’s scary.

Maye has the size to push a mid first into a top 5 value. Otherwise, that’s where Howell should have gone, too. But people weee concerned with his size.

He didn’t play in the bowl game.

Nothing to be sorry about—you asked a question and I tried to supply you with an answer, there’s months of breakdowns of these QB’s on these boards if you’re interested in reading people’s documented thoughts—including in relation to Howell. There will be plenty more posts to come as well, of course.

Now that somebody has corrected me that he didn't actually play in the game I'm not sure my thoughts have Merit

Why don’t you just use the search function on this site and read some of the breakdowns members here have posted about the QB prospects. Lots of in-depth opinions on them out there for you to catch up on before you come back here to discuss. Lots of video posted as well

I asked the question because he didn't look all that great against the West Virginia Mountaineers in the bowl game. Given he came from probably the same system that Howell was in I don't see how he could protect higher.  That's my thinking at the moment I'm sorry

  12. I see no reason anyone on staff is kept behind.  And while I like Sam, and I like Allen, Allen is about to be on his third contract and heading down hill possibly, Unless you intend to let him walk without compensation, a trade could be coming next year,a nd I'm okay with that.

You have to catch enough of your players when they are young and be successful or things get weird with cap space.

  13. Ron was talking about the come back from cancer, frankly he gives me vibes of Gibbs after Sean's murder.   I don't thin khe has the gusto anymore.

I don't really want to trade terry, but I can understand moving allen if we have payne under contract long term.

But if we may be retooling a lot, and gcan get a high 1st or 2nd for terry, then maybe we should move him to somewhere he can succeed.  We have so many holes though.  I hate to see them trade away key pieces, then trade up to draft a QB.
