ok, this is my new SportsCenter right here, Jomboy is awesome. I wish he'd do other sports.
  3. Oh I absolutely agree. When poor whites in Eastern Kentucky hear about the struggles in black urban areas they don't see that as special at all. They have their parents locked up (meth and pills) they know the abject poverty, they know what it means to struggle to get by. You're right they do have white privilege but it comes with far less advantages than middle class whites to be sure. I think that politicians become blind to that fact which is why Trump is so popular with those folks. And in a generation we'll be hearing them say the same things that some blacks now say about the Democratic party. Oh jesus Christ! LOL! If I had a dollar for every Prager Univ post that scrolled across my newsfeed....

    Consecutive callers! Nice!!!
  5. It's also why so many whites refuse to accept the idea of institutional racism, or systemic racism. For them the systems and institutions all work fine and allow them to succeed so therefore they are fine. If they accepted that the systems that allowed for their success were flawed then they'd have to recognize that they played a part and that their success may very well have belonged to another if the roles were equal.
  6. Well said @Jumbo I remember distinctly the morning after Hillary conceded the election how frustrated I was that nearly every ideal I've held onto as an adult was repudiated in the man people voted for. I was on the phone with a friend and I remember saying, "I just didn't think my country was this way." He was a bit confused and started talking about low taxes and GOP "ideals", bear in mind the guy has a seven figure portfolio so of the two types of Republicans he's not one of the fools. Since that time I've given that conversation a lot of thought and I've come to realize that my frustration and anger was my fault. My fault because I allowed myself to believe in a version of America that's a myth. A version of America that at most is only a few decades old, and the more I thought about it the more I realized that racism is in the very DNA of our nation and culture from our origins. From the slave trade, to the treatment of the American Native peoples, to the Irish, the Italians, to the Chinese, the Japanese, blacks and now the hispanics, it becomes abundantly clear that when you look at America you see not the egalitarian civil rights theme as our constant, but instead outright and rampant racism is the constant and egalitarianism is the exception rather than the rule. And the years that went by where Nazis and Klansmen would operate in secrecy because the public price they would pay was too high, well they are over. How amazing it is that all of that work was undone because an attack on the way we speak to one another and consider the other when we speak came under fire from those who wanted to be free from the shackles of civility to offend any and all they choose. They called it political correctness and they trotted out the extreme and misguided uses to make their case and in so doing gained a following of those who saw the absurdity in some things that were said, and with that they tore down the veil of civility to expose their true thoughts. Their racist, homophobic, ignorant, childish, and for lack of a better word evil thoughts. Any who object now are dismissed as snowflakes who can't take the heat of the hatred and evil spewed in their direction. I see this now, and I recognize my mistake. But that recognition of my mistake has led me to another realization, that in Trump's America if they are unshakled from their civility then so am I. And I join the ranks of those who fly the middle finger at Trump. I join the ranks of those who say "if you still support Trump then **** you too." I join the ranks of those who will call a racist a racist and not care if she is offended by the accusation, **** her too. I know many of my friends still believe in rising above, that's fine you rise above, I'm done. This is who we are now, the veil of civility has been torn down and our humanity has been exposed as combative and disagreeable people. They don't care about the "other", why the **** should I then care about them. If I see a truck with the Dixie flag broken down on the highway or with a Trump sticker on the back, **** you. Some white pearl clutching milf complaining about black people using a park, **** you too **** go walk your poodle somewhere else. Don't like seeing Adam & Steve on a commercial normalizing homosexuality, **** you too, keep supporting your favorite pedophile congressman and your rapist priests. Want this country run like a business, fine **** your mom on SSI, and your dad on medicare. **** you and your black lung. **** you and your cancer water from the strip mines. Don't come ****ing crying to me when you voted for exactly this. You can kiss my ass. 'Cause this is America.

Trump and his cabinet/buffoonery- Get your bunkers ready!

Oh, you're 100% right, why should they stop? There's literally zero motivation for Trump to stop anything he's been doing. The House can vote to impeach him with 100% yes votes and since Mitch is leading the Senate it simply won't matter. There's simply NO ONE to hold Trump accountable for anything. He knows that he can do and say whatever he wants and it won't cost him a single ****ing vote. All the while the Dems run around in a total **** show like a monkey ****ing a football slashing their wrists over every word Trump says, and yeah I get don't accept and don't normalize, but hell it already is. Until the accountability structures change then Trump can scream the N-word from the roof of the White House skull ****ing a prostitute as he hands the keys to the NSA over to Putin and none of those ****ers will even flinch in their support. We've watched it for 3+ years now. They don't care, and Trump knows that he has loyalists in all the key places.

General Mass Shooting Thread (originally Las Vegas Strip)

White people by in large do not believe in systemic racism. They cannot fathom that the social structures in which they live and thrive might not treat all people equitably regardless of race. It also means that they shoulder some of the responsibility, and they aren't racists....they have a black friend....he came over once. Columbine But that was a game changer and really hasn't been repeated since. Especially since it's so much easier and as effective to just get an AR with 30 round mags and a bunch of ammo to do as much or more damage than Dylan and Eric did. And you're not breaking the law until you start firing. Heck, if we listen to the Right you won't even be breaking the law by carrying all of that onto school grounds. ****ing bunch of morons.

Trump and his cabinet/buffoonery- Get your bunkers ready!

Surprise!!! White Evangelical Males are the least likely group to believe that Trump is a racist. Jesus Christ people get your **** figured. It is interesting that there is VERY little difference across age groups.

General Mass Shooting Thread (originally Las Vegas Strip)

I hope you're not in law enforcement, because if you are so simple that you cannot figure out that a drug related murder, a trailer park domestic murder, and a MASS ****ing SHOOTING are different crimes that have to be dealt with and prevented in different ways then just give up now. Didn't even get a full page in with the Garlic Fest shooting before the next one.

    What do you Believe??? (Religion)

Yup. I spent too many years denying myself the joys and pleasures of life. I watch those around me living afraid of disappointing the sky ghost, and I see myself in them. Looking down in judgment upon those things they could enjoy, all to do what? Sorry, but attending Promise Keepers and men's study groups just ain't doing it for me. You have but one life to live and you will only regret those things you didn't do. Live life to the fullest!

    What do you Believe??? (Religion)

That's the point I've been trying to make the whole time. What you describe is escapism, and not part of what the Bible seems to teach. Not only that but nearly everything you've been taught about Heaven does not come from the Bible. A devout Christian understands that LIFE is the gift of god, which is why the sting of death has been removed because the resurrection is there to undo death. See that's the whole point of all of it, according to the Bible god is working to restore creation back to its original state, Eden, not in "heaven" but here on earth, with the faithful rewarded with eternal.....wait for it..... LIFE. Once heaven is seen as the goal escapism begins and death is viewed as the doorway, and not the negative consequence of sin.

    What do you Believe??? (Religion)

Are you ****ing serious? I didn't value my step mother's life if I see her death as a positive! You don't have a clue what you're talking about. Good night, but you need to drop this because your logic is stupid.

    What do you Believe??? (Religion)

One exception doesn't make a rule but it is sufficient to disprove the absolute statement you wrote below. You said I "can't", I proved to you that I can, and do. Therefore you absolute statement is false. If that's what you consider a miracle...then thank you because you've proven my point that there is no such thing.

    What do you Believe??? (Religion)

To your first point: My step mother's life was torn apart by crippling anxiety and depression. She took her life to end the pain she endured daily. **** you if you don't think an end to her pain was a good thing. To your second...name some miracles then, let's see if they hold up to scrutiny. The previous poster (who ran away) claimed that miracles are to convince an unbelieving people of the power of god. So surely these miracles will be so plentiful and unexplainable as to drop the scales from my blinded eyes.

    What do you Believe??? (Religion)

So you're gonna proof text one sentence Jesus said from the cross? Ok, two can play that game; 2 Peter 3:8 "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." See, more ****ing Rorschach blots. Going to prepare a place for you gives ZERO indication about when you'll take possession of your new condo. And I don't focus on the suffering because that's a given. You were the one who said theists don't see death negatively, even while death goes hand in hand with sin. To not see it negatively is to divorce what shares DNA.
