Good point, its become just about conventional wisdom that you don't need to take receivers early. TE would fit in that category, too. O line seems to be one of the safest picks. Right now, if we have a high pick, Sewell strikes me as much as a no brainer as Chase Young was this year. For me the QB position is leaps and bounds more important versus any other spot. So if its Lawrence vs. Sewell or whichever QB emerges as elite if it happens this year -- QB >>>>> LT. However, I am hoping Haskins ends up the guy where it becomes a moot subject. If Haskins is the guy it will make everything by a mile easier as for building this team. I know you are sold on him. I am not yet, I waffle on the dude but i lean positive and i am hoping he works out. If Haskins is the guy. And McLaurin and Sims continue to develop. Ditto Gibson and Gandy-Golden. Then IMO headed to the 2021 season its the O line that needs to be enhanced, along with maybe MLB and CB. I think our O line could end up sneaky bad. Wes Martin was rated a 37 by PFF in pass protection. Then we got Atlanta's backup guard who judging by his PFF ratings is just a guy. Moses to me is just OK at best though I give him props for durability. I like Scherff more than most. But this isn't a loaded O line. Some of us used to make fun of the NY Giants O line but i think right now theirs is a clear peg better than ours. Ditto Dallas and Philly. I am hoping Charles can stay out of trouble and that would help a lot. But otherwise if the O line is Geron Christian at LT and Wes Martin at LG -- the O line might end up being a problem.

Judging by early mocks, granted they don't mean much now, a dude like Jordan will likely be there in the 2nd maybe even Pitts, too. I agree with not drafting a TE in the first round. But in my view if its a high level talent, I would consider taking one in the upper half of the 2nd round.
  4. I doubt Warford would take a one year deal unless he gets some really low ball offers. It's not the typical big player release that's often driven by character issues or some injury. He's in his prime and got cut it seems that NO is strapped by the cap and they drafted potentially a stud replacement. If he were part of the recent FA crop, he'd I think get at least 13 million or so a year. One thing working against him now is some teams have already blown their cap room. We fortunately are not one of those teams. I didn't really think about it until this morning but in my view every team in the NFC East has an above average O line right now except for us unless some of our wildcards come through. Wes Martin graded by PFF in the low 50s and his pass blocking grade was an abysmal 37. Granted he's young but he wasn't one of the touted college guards before we took him. So to me he's a bit of a wildcard. Then we got Atlanta's previous backup guard also with a PFF rating in the 50s. And LT is a wildcard, too. Not saying these dude's can't work out, who knows. But putting a bonafide booked stud at the other guard spot IMO would go a long way. Having said that it looks like there is competition for him so I doubt we'd land him even if we chased him unless we were willing to outbid everyone.
  5. Don't know but reading what I have it seems like its cap savings post some signings and arguably they just drafted the best C-OG in the draft. It sounds like he will have multiple suitors, so I'd guess he gets at least the Flowers deal, But yeah he's a big deal. PFF ranked last season at some point last year one of the top 20 O lineman in the league. He's 28 albeit going on 29 which makes him just about half a year older than Scherff.

  7. I think right now we have the weakest O line in the NFC East. We used to make fun of the Giants O line but in my view it surpassas ours now probably by a clear peg. Zeitler is one of the best guards in the game. Hernandez hasn't hit his potential but he's a mauler when he wants to be. Thomas IMO will be a stud LT. Solder isn't a hot LT but I presume he's moving to RT and IMO he's better than Moses or at least on par. Cowboys O line isn't what it once was but its still darn good. the Eagles might have the best O line. My point is Warford would equalize it some. Warford is more a power type guard but I think he can work with outside zone if that's what they heavily focus on next season

Agree, TE might be a good option in the 2nd round too especially if we have a high draft pick.

Agree. But not sure we are in worse shape on those fronts than Cincy and Jax.

The one thing about all these NFL pundits doing predictions, if they are anywhere close to be on the money about their thoughts about this team, then we are slam dunk picking top 5. It would be ironic if we end up in a position to slam dunk land Sewell just like we were this year with Chase. Sewell to me looks like the Chase Young of the 2021 draft, a prospect who looks poised to be elite/special. JLC ironically was on 106.7 talking about this while I was typing this post saying a top 5 pick back to back seasons might actually be good thing for the franchise long term. Yeah my early 2 man crushes for the moment if we are picking early are Sewell and Chase. Both seem like can't miss stars.

1-15? Be interesting. That would yield Trevor Lawrence or a boatload of picks for that #1 spot. Doubt it though.

I agree with Hoffman in one sense. I get the NFL not being enamored with the Redskins as a prime time draw but teams like the Bengals or Jax shouldn't IMO get more billing. This I think will change next year.

Personally I don't care if they are on prime time or not. But thinking about the Redskins as a global brand I think it shows how low we are at this point in time. The first time since 1982? Wow. I thought it was bad enough with no Sunday Night games for the last two seasons but this takes it up a notch further. But having said that, darkest before the dawn. I do think they are headed (knock on wood) in the right direction.

I don't love what some of the beat guys have said they've heard about Geron Christian which apparently is that he doesn't play with an edge and some their have concerns about him having the right killer type mindset to play the position at a high level. Christian isn't talked about often but once in a blue moon something like that pops up about him. He's been at best inconsistent. I am not sure I am counting on him to be OK. But I don't know. Will see. That's why I put LT as a wildcard. I have more faith in S. Charles if he can stay out of trouble. So I don't know if I am counting on LT to be better. It's possible though. I like Scherff better than most people or so it seems when his name comes up on some threads. He's no Q. Nelson but he's still IMO one of the better guards in the league. I like our center. Moses IMO is a warrior and a good guy but I think a bit overrated at RT. He hasn't sniffed a pro bowl IMO for a reason. He IMO is OK but nothing special. I'd rate the O line as OK but tough for me to label it above average. It's possible if the wildcards turn out that it ends up better,

It's a good point. I've loved Guice for years so i am a bit clouded perhaps on him. I loved Love too but not to the same extent. So in my head I envision a dream scenario where they are both healthy but that at best is a wildcard. From PFF standards via a small sample, Guice in theory would explode if he can stay healthy. But it's certainly an if.
