  1. I think they were more worried about the damage to the image of the church, and the resultant challenge to its authority and infallibility, than they were about people's lives. When a church ceases to be an organism, but instead becomes an organization, it is dead.
  2. While nobody is beyond forgiveness and redemption in Christ, some sins have lifelong consequences, especially for those in pastoral ministry. If found in open sin, it should disqualify you from further service in church leadership and that type of ministry. Apostle Paul uses "overseer" interchangeably with elder and pastor (or priest). 1 Timothy lays out the qualifications, along with various other prohibitions in Scripture to avoid sin including sexual immorality. 1 Timothy 3 English Standard Version (ESV) Qualifications for Overseers 3 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.
  3. Yeah, a fellow pastor friend of mine sent that to me. His words: "Here goes the church carrying Caesar's water again."
  4. No he's not. He knows exactly what he's doing. Which is even worse IMO. Preacher, be thought crazy because you believe God became a man, died to take away the sins of the world, and rose from the dead. Not because you believe in your savior Trump, yabba dabba doo like Fred Flintstone, and have a bad toupee.
  5. Well, American sports been playing the anthem for decades, if not a century. Its just the players being out there for the NFL that is newer since the late 2000's. Just play the anthem with the players in the locker room again. No stadium sized flags, honor guards, or flyovers.
  6. I love me some Conway Twitty. But not around the kids... lol
  7. I do this on Monday/Friday, because I do karate on Tues/Thurs/Sat. I try to go as heavy as I can and still make reps. No rest inside of the Super Sets. Superset 1 Pushups – 20 x 3 Lunges – 10 (each side) x 2 Superset 2 Chest press – 20 x 3 Squats – 20 x 2 Superset 3 Overhead press – 10 x 3 Deadlift – 20 x 2 Superset 4 Triceps skullcrusher – 10 x 3 Russian kettlebell swings – 20 x 3 Superset 5 Curls – 10 x 5 Calf raise – 30 x 3
  8. I would imagine it something like "a gun went off accidentally". And it was only 4.
  9. Its like a (Molotov?) ****tail of gun access and violent ideas.
  10. Sometimes you just want to EMP a nation... but then you think about what would happen to hospitals and stuff... I always find these video game discussions entertaining. Often the same folks who want gun control become like the NRA when anybody even suggests that the steady firehose of violent content (and social media) delivered to children's brains might be contributing. We learn and are shaped by our experiences. "Bad company corrupts good character" as the Good Book rightly says.
  11. Sometimes all a person can do is pray. But it should be both if ever possible. See Joshua 7.
  12. Are you making a claim that you think twenty something white males are more likely to be mentally unstable?

  14. Saw his response ^^ earlier on social media from another conservative who understands. It is pretty much my own take. The typical Trump Right responses were trotted out which basically were sticking their fingers in their ears and saying "doesn't matter" "still disrespectful" "why stop at kneeling? Why not burn the flag or #%&? on it? What is the limit?" I'm so done trying to convince my fellow "conservatives" on this. They don't want to understand. NFL should just remove all honoring of the military and keep the players in the locker room during the song at this point.
  15. I'm from MD with half my family being Rebels (proudly) right over the river in King George VA. I normally try to stay away from the "offended on behalf of" type of things, but this is something that is a reflection on current race relations and the general inability or unwillingness of my fellow whites to even try understand and empathize with our fellow humans who are African-American. It's hard for me not to feel empathy as I see these things.
  16. To me Silent Sam is similar to "let's have a plantation wedding with black folks playing the parts of slaves. We can remember the role that plantation life played in the South" but worse. I can only imagine what a black person, especially who may be descended from slaves, would feel. And why are there no statues commemorating the late General Westmoreland who commanded a good many years in our great war in Vietnam? He only get's a bridge? WTH?
  17. More like the end of Shawshank Redemption when they are coming to arrest the warden.
  18. I have some of the early 90's Ron Lim Silver Surfer / Infinity Gauntlet story arc. Not mint though. Also found a Predator vs. Batman comic recently in a box.
  19. Duh. The intent was to honor people who fought for a Confederacy that was formed to defend state's rights.... to continue the slave trade.
  20. Cooley was probably a money thing. I really like Smoot filling in on the ride home. THere is NO WAY Czaban could work with him though.
