I’m with you. I try to double up at WR when I’m playing around with the mock simulator.

Yeah I’ve doubled up on OT (assuming one or both can play guard) and/or WR (one being more of a slot and the other bigger or an X and a Z, etc.

I think CB is also a huge need. We may not have a single CB on the roster that is a scheme fit.

Do you think Powers-Johnson would not be able to play LG?

I think a guy with his size and strength is more than capable of playing guard. Which he did in college, incidentally, during his sophomore.

For me, if either of those guys makes it to 36, they’re the starting LG next season — and eventually taking over the C spot from Biadasz.

I do agree about Frazier, though. He’s a bit more of a fire hydrant, I see him more as center only.

I assumed Powers Johnson was solid 1st but yeah he would be also.

Would be perfect because they could probably earn LG spot as rookie and then take over for Badisz in a few years.

We’re either lacking or have question marks at FS, OT and corner.

2 of our DEs, 2 of our backers, our top TE, and our SS (or whatever Chinn’s going to play) are on one year deals.  Guard is interesting, especially with Cosmi set to hit FA next year.

While DE is the more important position (especially financially), the idea of drafting a backer to learn behind Wagner is super appealing, and that (to me) is a spot where picking up another 3rd or a 4th can have an impact.  Similar with TE.  And both are positions that seem to often have a bit of a learning curve.

Of course, I’m a big proponent of taking advantage of deep position in a draft class.  So for me, it’s wr, corner and OT (like you said), plus DE.

Yeah, the Frazier pick in particular is an odd one.

Yeah the only C I’m drafting that early is Graham Barton because he can play LG easily

is 1.5 sacks in 118 snaps decent?

Were those 118 snaps special teams included or just as a pass rusher? I don’t recall him playing that much.

I thought it was interesting during the press conference today that both Newmark and Peters talked about working together for the first time and figuring out what works and what doesn't during this pre-draft process. Might be the closest we get to an admission that the Top Golf Test with 4 blue chip QB prospects the week before the draft maybe wasn't the best idea lol.

I don’t think they were referring to that, they both seemed to reflect positively on it.

I think it was more general.

Also, I was impressed by Lance. GMAP is always impressive too.

Nabors is fantastic and is an elite prospect. But Harrison is truly generational. He's as slam dunk as it gets. He's on par with Fitzgerald in 2004 as far as certainty goes. Only WR I'd rank higher in the last ~20 years is Megatron.

I think the appeal or MHJr is is floor is really high (starting WR) but Nabors might end up the better overall player in the NFL. He has more juice.

This is false, this pick dos not require ANY consensus, especially from outside the building. Adam Peters can make the pick with or without it.

There is no way GMAP talks about collaboration with the Head coach and then makes his QB pick with no input. Convincing him to like the guy he likes? Maybe. But he’s not saying **** you I’m taking who I want. Be serious.

  7. I’ve warmed up a lot to Daniels after watching all the throws. I think less of his deep ball but more of his ability to dump it off quick and go through reads. Also, his ability to take yards running and get out of bounds.

I prefer Maye, but Daniels could be really good. I think Dak level good.

Maye is the guy that could be a top 5 player though, and less of an injury risk too.

Then he's in the wrong job.

The more likely explanation is people are reading WAY to much into all this.

When is the draft again? roll on ..

I don’t understand- do you think he had another intent?

Was it a just a mistake on the agent to like a critical point about potential employer?

I acknowledge it means nothing if we think he’s the better player, we can take him regardless.

JD's agent never clarified as far as I can see, but one of his liked tweets after the post was from a Commanders fan basically saying don't read into the comment, and the agent was likely taking issue with Florio's take on the visit.

To me that makes it a nothingburger, but it could also be the agent trying to cover his tracks while also creating fodder if there was an actual intent to drive Daniels elsewhere. Hard to say.

It’s definitely possible his agent is stupid, sloppy, and bad at communicating.

  10. I thought the first retweet was borderline but the second one?

Either the Agent is a moron (unlikely) or he’s doing his best to alienate Commanders and avoid Jayden going to Washington.

Why? Jayden clearly wants to go to a coaching staff that believes in him and wants him. He wants to go to Las Vegas to be with AP, that relationship has already been discussed.

I don’t know if Patriots are a means to that end or he likes the fit and wooing from Pats.

Also, possible Giants, Vikings, or team like Denver has communicated to agent their desire to trade up and Commanders have essentially closed the door on a trade down that far (rightfully so).

This is all speculation but it’s grounded in logic.

Will this matter if GMAP believes Daniels is far and away the best QB? No, we pick him regardless and he sucks it up and it’s over by May. But for a group that seems to value buy in and relationship building it would be a strange outcome.

Neither here nor there, but here's a tweet from Jayden's agent from two weeks ago lol

Guy seems like a total horse’s ass

I’m not sure if Jayden is a good golfer but I know Maye is. Probably didn’t do well. Combine that with being super competitive, coming from Giants and Patriots who told him he’s the best QB ever and they want him, he thinks the whole thing is stupid. Visit went downhill from there.

But that’s just one way it could have happened..

  12. I bet the Patriots told Jayden he would be the pick at 3 and they believe in him. They probably told Drake Maye the same thing (why not?)

So, when you contrast that with going to top golf with 20 people, it’s certainly possible he’s annoyed at the Commanders process and told his agent as much.

  13. I don’t want to make too much of this but some thoughts:

    1. Agent posting that is unprofessional as it could be prejudicial for his client to the future employer. No one wants to hear that their process is stupid.

    2. Totally possible this is coming from agent alone, HOWEVER- doubtful he posts this if Jayden said, “I loved top golf, hanging with other players, and my interviews went phenomenally.”

    3. Assuming Agent’s like isn’t on his own, and that it’s parroting Jayden we can assume either Jayden didn’t like the format, didn’t feel as if he did well, or isn’t excited about idea of going to Washington.

What's the response going to be from everyone if we draft Jayden and he ends up being the next Justin Fields, and Drake Maye ends up being the next Josh Allen?

I’ll be apoplectic. The same way I would feel if we took Maye and he turned into bad Carson Wentz, or a less athletic, more inconsistent Trevor Lawrence and Jayden Daniels ends up being Joe Burrow with wheels.

I guess we will just have to see how it goes. Both could fail miserably.

Schefter confirmed yesterday or today (IIRC) that Daniels was today and tommorrow.

Yeah then I really don’t understand it.

I understand the release is quick and the mechanics are tight and the footwork is square and the stroke is repeatable…but I just don’t like the ball coming out of Daniels’ hand. Every throw looks like he’s trying to feather in a touch pass over the top without ideal velocity. I’m probably not explaining it well but it’s not just an “arm strength” thing. It doesn’t matter whether I watch cut-ups, highlights, analyst breakdowns…I have a hard time doing what I’m trying to do, which is fall in love with Daniels at least a fraction of the amount I have with Maye—because I want to be happy/satisfied/hopeful either way. And intellectually, I’ve mostly gotten there. I nod along on paper with why I should be excited about Daniels if he’s the pick (while still allowing for the flaws I’m worried about to keep me grounded on it). But I just can’t get away from the fact that I don’t experience joy watching Daniels throw the ball. I just don’t.

I feel the exact same way.

For me, it’s watching the throws where the WR is settling down and just waiting for the ball. I’m cringing and imagining them being broken up.

But watching some of the all throws and run footage does give me some confidence as far as his ability to avoid big hits. Lots of scrambles where he picks up 5-10 and gets out of bounds. Also, I think his smooth, quick dump offs to RBs look like Kirk Cousins and makes me smile.

I think he can be an ultra efficient point guard who also can scramble for big gains when necessary.

But the arm is just not in Maye’s class.

I’m fascinated by what type of scheme we run and how coaching staff and FO views these guys.

My recollection was that Daniels was Mon-Tues

    Maye was Tues-Wed

Then JJ entered the fold on some day, and I assumed it was Wednesday, but I don't think we've gotten confirmation on that.

So sounds like Daniels and Maye get their own "nights," but Daniels is the only one who gets his own "day" per se.

I thought it was Monday night Daniels (probably dinner, then work at facility next day), same for Maye (Tues night, Wednesday day ), and JJ would be Wednesday night, Thursday day).

Does this boost him back to the late 2nd-early 3rd?  One of my fav pass rushers in this draft

I think he would be a great fit in the situational pass rusher role we foresee Dante Fowler playing. Let him compete for snaps with Fowler with the hope he supplants him and can be an even better version (if not an everydown player)

also- that 3 cone is ****ing absurd. Almost identical to Von Miller.

He’s undersized at 6’2 248 but has 33 inch arms.

NFL bloodlines, production, and technique too.

Parsons is a better version of LaVar.  Him flaming out in Dallas after a short, brilliant career was so predictable that it almost feels like a scriptwriting mistake to actually have it happen.

Here is how the next part of the story goes: he lost his mentor, who was willing to design his entire defense around getting him favorable match ups and playmaking looks, and he takes a big step back with Mike Zimmer, who tries to make him play in a structured OLB role.  He hates it, becomes a malcontent, falls afoul of Jerry, then walks in free agency.

    100%.

But I’m not sure how the story will end-

Takes a massive FA deal for a garbage team like the Panthers, fails there and has a career resurgence for the Commanders under DQ or signs with his hometown Eagles team for a discount and wins another SB.
