  1. With all due respect, I'm just never gonna understand the call to harken back to looks that never won anything. Yellow pants, single stripes, darker burgundies, arrowhead helmets....really alien to me.

This entire franchise is literally defined by a single decade of excellence that was absolutely monolithic in terms of uniform design.

They need to go back to that look, it's so ******* choice.

    They need to perfect it.

Helmet: Drop the glitter, go matte, go brighter red, make the logo bigger. Heck, maybe tuck those feathers back in...

Jersey, Pants, Socks: Brighter burgundy, thicker piping.

All I'm asking for is to have THAT look as a base and build off cool alternates for anniversaries or special occassions.

  2.  I should probably mess around with this in photoshop and try things out. Because I never noticed it before but now I'd like to see.

    Good eye and I agree.

The two color stripe is a key characteristic of a Redskin uniform and it needs to be way more prominent than it currently is.

That's partly why I hate the gold pants so much, it's a three stripe trim which is just not "Redskins" to me.

  3. Here we go again boys.

90 minutes of EVERYTHING we have. I don't think this will decide anything whatever the result. But it will probably go a long way to the final outcome.

    BELIEVE!

    Hail.

Here it is GHH, good luck man....oh, this is a final make no mistake at least the first of two. :)

  4. I like the yellow pants with the red jersey. I wish theyd find a way to get some yellow on the jersey. And I'd hate for them to go back to primarily wearing the white jersey.

I like color, I wish the NFL would allow teams with non-similar color schemes to both wear color jerseys. There's no reason the Bears couldn't be wearing orange while the Pack wears green today

No offense, but that is the worst thing I've ever read.

    Lincoln (2012)

A terrible movie with an incredible performance at the center of it.

Daniel Day Lewis is a genius, it's unfortunate that everything else, short of the cinematography, is a full echelon or two away from him.

The rest of the cast is just bad or flat. No one, short of Jared Harris as Grant, comes close to creating something interesting with their roles. "Hey look! It's Dale from Breaking Bad, it's Tommy Lee Jones in a wig and a couple of nut sacks under his eyes, is that James ******* Spader?!?!"

The story itself is also just completely uninteresting.

The main crux is a battle in the House over the passage of the 13th amendment but it just doesn't connect AT ALL. Mediocre actors play reps who's moral compass and struggle on this very important issue is conveyed with no more than a "I just **** myself" face.

There is one scene in the film that is so poorly filmed that it seemed pulled from a modern day sitcom where Jones, as Thaddeus Stevens, comes back from the ratification to hand the bill to his wife, a black woman who reads it to him as they both lay in bed in their pjs. It seemed like something out of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and the ending? Having Lincoln appear from the flickering flame of the oil lamp on his death bed? Like something out of an insurance commercial.

A complete biopic, even if in two parts, would have been in order OR just put this on HBO. I have a fever and MORE DDL as Lincoln is the prescription. Lincoln Lawyer, Lincoln v Douglas, the Gettysburg speech, secession, the war.....those are the touchstones that needed to be shown.

You don't make a movie about Jordan and show him playing baseball and ignore the 66 against the Celtics and the battles against the Pistons and Knicks.

An oscar for DDL if it's not Phoenix's. (Haven't seen The Master yet.)

    6/10.

  6. exactly. Its what he has to cling to now since Gerrard has had a horrible start under Rodgers where all his central midfield deficiencies has shown through.

Uh-oh. Here we go again. :)

How is Abel Hernandez getting along. I really like that guy, he reminds me of a not as good Thierry Henry. Why wont Tabarez give him more matches? Also, was Tabarez still persisting with Forlan?

I wouldn't put him in Henry's class but I definitely like him, ESPECIALLY since Cavani has been absolutely horrible for a long time now. Abel is a solid player, consistent, athletic, hungry...one of the few bright spots on the London 2012 campaign was when he came in against GBR pressured the ball, stole it from behind and created a scoring chance all by himself thus showing more "fight" in one play than many did in 3....Tabarez has to give him a shot, he has to play with Suarez who really only needs a consistent setup man to get off. Abel needs to play with Suarez against Ecuador.

Problem is, he's obviously not on Tabarez's radar....he just won't put him in. Cavani was screaming to get subbed yesterday and nothing...I just don't know what's up there.

Forlan's Golden Boot has earned him some cred but yeah, he's been disappointing for a while now and he's playing in the Brazilian league so his time at starter is coming to an end. I'd definitely keep him on the team though, he's got too much class.

  7. I really want Colombia to qualify for the World Cup. All they have ever really needed was a great striker and now Falcao is there scoring for fun. That was impressive over Uruguay.

Yeah, they took care of business but honestly they're only good enough to be fighting that 4th/5th spot with us.

Really should've been 2-0 but Uruguay found a way to make it special.

Now we're complaining about the heat when before it was about the altitude....truth is Uruguay has been on the decline since they threw two points out the window at home to Venezuela, almost did again against Peru, then the debacle in London 2012 and now this.

Cavani is in dreadful form and he continues to start and play huge minutes.

At halftime, down 0-1 Uruguay hadn't played a bad first half.

The adjustment was more than obvious...Abel Hernandez for a horrid Cavani and see what happens. Instead Tabarez, the Uruguay coach, changes the line of 5 scheme to a 4-4-2 by taking out a defender who was playing well, Victorino, for a defensive midfielder "Tata" Gonzalez who is completely worthless....5 minutes later, it's 3-0...well done, Maestro.

    He wasn't :)

    Coates play man?

    Hail.

No, he's sitting behind Lugano and Godin...though Lugano, who didn't get included by PSG for Europe is in limbo and his play yesterday reflected it. I mean, not 2 minutes into the game ******* Falcao is by himself in the middle of the area...1-0 Colombia....embarrassing.

Coates still has to improve for me....he is "goofy big" and is terrible in space, more than most center backs.

    ---------- Post added September-8th-2012 at 10:01 AM ----------

    he was.

Ha! Yeah, you're right...boasting about Gerrard but not about England against Moldova. I misunderstood.

  8. true, Moldova are a great powerhouse of European football. Go on and hang your hat on this one.

    Don't think he was boasting.

Still trying to recover from the 4-0 Colombia hung on us.

Having to switch b/w 8 or 9 utter **** streams and our scintillating play, it was a memorable Friday....here's to Tuesday against Ecuador.

Calling it now, we don't win.

  9. Here's a US fan's recount from last night(keep in mind this was a friendly. Not even a qualifier)---

I was at the game, amazing! But honestly, I lost a lot of respect for Mexican soccer fans today.\

Oh man, RichmondRedskins88 I feel for you. You're a hero and a true fan. Mexican fans, now that English hooligans are gone, are without a shred of a doubt the absolute worst fans in the game.

I was at the WC match in 2010 in Rustenberg, South Africa b/w Uruguay and Mexico.....here's what happened to me...

Walking to the stadium with my bro and my dad a group of about three douchebags start chanting something to the effect that Uruguay was going to "eat" the "national chili" and when I mean chant I mean walk up to and past us screaming it....no doubt what they were going for......Hey, I'm no diplomat but if I make eye contact with a rival fan I usually give a thumbs up and a "good luck."

During the game they "showed off" their then new trick of screaming "puto" or "homo" every time the rival goalie kicks a goal kick....so pathetic. It's now as beloved a tradition as the insipid ******* Mexican wave.

After Uruguay won the game the Mexican fans just started throwing beer bottles, grabbing themselves and flicking us off....complete trash.

Leaving the stadium some kid wanted to exchange his counterfeit Mexican jersey with my Dad's official Uruguay kit, my pops kindly explained he didn't have another one....a third party (some drunk 20 year old punk) saw this and started going for my 60 year old Dad! I saw red and was ready to go, I got between this punk and my party and if it wasn't for my Dad telling me to calm down I would have ripped his ******* shirt off.....thankfully this coward backed off but kept barking until we reached security and the parking shuttles.

In the shuttle this group of ******** started making lewd and loud comments about some girl in their immediate vicinity who was wearing a pair of tight jeans....a perfect cherry to top off this **** sundae.

Got the win, nothing is sweeter. Enjoy it, hope you get them in the qualifiers too.

sadly... this is how they watch soccer games in Latin America....

Sorry, I disagree. Might have been that way decades ago but no longer.

I watched a Uruguay v Brasil qualifying game in the Maracana and screamed the temporary 1-0 with my bro, nothing happened.....granted we were low key but still, nothing of the sort of stuff being described....some dude did walk into our section with a Fluminense shirt and got promptly escorted out though, b/c we were in the Flamengo side of the stadium. :)

Been to plenty of games at the Centenario in Montevideo and while spartan and certainly less "safe" than U.S. venues....rival fans might get whistles and boos but no urine bombs, no outward hostility, especially not for a ******* international friendly, just crazy.

Mexican fans are the worst.....it's why they invented the wave and the "puto" chant and get angry when they lose......they're like children.

  10. Gerrard can't be Liverpool's best option but he was last season b/c the other guys around him, Henderson, Downey and Adam were very pedestrian. Those guys together has to be one of the worst midfields in the EPL. After Meireles left their ability to create went with him. But put Gerrard with some more talent around him and he'll be just fine, you can't just throw out that kind of leadership or talent. Liverpool has to boot Luis Enrique square on his *** though, he is terrible. I'll never understand how SBs that aren't attacking specialists and aren't fast enough to cover the ground they constantly give up when they do can start at that level.

Liverpool need a left SB and a quick athletic offensive MF, IMHO.
