No, I think Wentz (sometimes pronounced "Wins" and sometimes pronounced "Wince" is just receiving a little unwarranted pessimism. Perhaps better term would be skepticism.

I meant, you earlier said that Wentz received "a little unwarranted pessimism" and that's it. Then said Young received "a little unwarranted disappointment"...and then went into lengthy detail as to why that disappointment is actually warranted lol

I would hope that neither gets any "hate." Wentz might be getting a little unwarranted pessimism while Chase is probably getting a little warranted disappointment. He's supposedly a team leader, elected a captain by his teammates. There's not a valid reason for him not to be there, even if just watching from the sidelines and helping rally his team. His individual rehab won't be completely thrown off by being at a lower elevation for a few 3 day sessions. IMO, He's being selfish and hence the expected reaction of disappointment from those who know what team leadership looks like.

    So...Wentz, then? lol...

Hopkins was 3rd all time in field goal attempts for us, behind Moseley and Chip Lohmiller of course.

Second best FG% for us, behind Kai Forbath.

Lohmiller's FG% was abysmal, yet some fans speak of him as if he was the last great kicker for the franchise.

Not trying to pick here. Just wanted to follow up. It seems like this story has changed

    https://www.sbsun.com/2022/05/24/gunman-kills-at-least-19-children-at-texas-elementary-school/

Cbp has said their agent wasn’t in the area to investigate anything just happened to be there, and the engagement is a bit different than the tweet implies.

yeah. Actually the good guy with the gun did about the best he could. It just wasn’t as good as we’d prefer. He happened to be in the area and he did what everyone of us hope someone would do.

That’s not an endorsement for any specific idea on what to do about these tragedies. But that guy deserves credit for doing his job. And caring.

Something tells me that if the "good guy with a gun" was a cashier at Taco Bell instead of a border control agent, things turn out differently.

That’s fair, that’s the ultra-rational stance and makes sense to me in that context.

Yeah, but in sports parlance for some reason no ceiling has taken the opposite meaning, going high ceiling>low ceiling>no ceiling. For whatever reason. You’re right that it would make more sense to refer to massive upside as “no ceiling” and I’m sure some people do, although I don’t hear it often.

I guess “no ceiling” means the floor is their ceiling lol…

Fair enough @Califan007 The Constipated, thanks for the explanation. I don’t agree with it, because a mystery ceiling (if you reign in expectations to a reasonable level) is still better than no ceiling to me. But I get it as a defense mechanism I guess. To me that’s almost a more bizarre defense mechanism than the false hope and hype you’re protecting yourself against in the first place (which is itself a defense mechanism against the misery of reality lol), but you do you. I can’t even think of a player that I thought was bad (after a reasonable sample size of snaps) who turned out to be good later. It’s usually either “we don’t have enough information” or “wow he doesn’t have it” for me.

Hmm...maybe I didn't explain myself well enough based on your response lol.

I'm definitely not trying to protect myself from disappointment. It's more an issue of the hyped-up talk about newly drafted players has shown itself to be irrelevant to me enjoying following the team. Even when the hype is kind of tempered. I'm more curious than excited about our draft class...not because I think they were mediocre picks, far from it. But that curiosity can't be addressed until they start to actually play and practice.

Also, wouldn't it be better for a player to have no ceiling? lol...

I get that it’s all personal preference and whatnot, but I literally cannot imagine why it would be more interesting to anybody to discuss Heinicke over Howell. One is a known quantity. The other is a rookie with an unknown ceiling. There’s way more to it than that which tips the balance even more for me, but for argument’s sake let’s set the rest of the particulars aside and even then, that one bit of info is still enough for me. I’d literally rather talk about Cole Kelley than Heinicke.

Been bit in the ass way too much by players with "potential" to want to take part in the overly-excited rhetoric anymore. I much preer talking about players who have already played and discussing the idea that they can improve (or won't improve) than go on and on and on about players--who have never set foot on the field--will obviously be exactly what we need them to be. I wait until at least training camp and preseason before starting to talk about how good (or bad) a rookie will be. Might be different if we drafted someone #1 or #2 overall, like RG3 and Chase Young...but other than that? Yeah, I find discussing if Cosmi, Davis, Brown, or--yes--Heinicke can and will improve from their first year with Washington more than assuming they won't and our latest batch of rookies will take over for them, just you wait and see...Love talking about Wentz, love talking about Heinicke, both good and bad. Howell? Not so much lol...get back to me in August.

When Wentz was first mentioned I was very mad.  I did research before I reacted in any public way. The research really changed my perception from mad to cautiously optimistic. Especially given that our alternatives were to overpay for a bridge, give away the farm (and that may not have been an alternative) or put all our eggs on a QB in this draft.

I did no research lol…I just ****ed and moaned for awhile.

I'm not sure how much more clear I can be about this, the few people telling us how Taylor is actually a lot better than he really is over and over and over and over, to the extent that we are still having this conversation right now - after it's been set in stone that Wentz is the starter and we're developing Howell, is what makes people wish he'd be cut - so he can quit being a topic of discussion.  We get it - there's a few of you who will ride or die for dude.  But it's the epitome of...

south park beat a dead horse GIF

If you don’t want to talk about Heinicke, stop responding to posts about Heinicke lol…I don’t want to talk about Howell to be honest. Not yet anyway. So I gloss over all the posts that swore Howell will easily beat out Heinicke for the backup QB and how he’s gonna be the go-to guy if/when Wentz is either injured or benched. Have I rolled my eyes at some of the gushing praise about Howell here and on Twitter? Abso-f’ing-lutely lol…But he’s on the team, so I pray he does as well as many already seem convinced he will. And there’s been so little about this franchise for fans to get excited about that I’m now at a point where I don’t feel the desire to dampen anyone’s enthusiasm over any player, especially one that has helped us win games.

...the other 2 TDs he had little to do with. The first was a backpedaling lofted pass into triple coverage in the end zone. It should have been picked but Terry pulled a Terry and made an amazing adjustment and catch. The second was a dump off to JD who had a great run and an amazing diving TD.

    - Back-peddling when throwing doesn't equate to not having anything to do with the pass being completed.

    - It was single coverage when he threw it--there was only one defender near Terry at the time. Not sure where triple coverage comes from.

Heinicke was pressured right when Mclaurin starts thinking of making his break--he throws the ball as the defender is catching up to Terry:

    - The only reason the dump-off was even possible was because Heinicke kept the play alive with his feet and kept his eyes downfield. We've had too many backup-quality QBs over the last 4+ years who would have either just started running and fail to get a 1st down, would have thrown it downfield out of desperation to a covered WR, or just not seen McKissic at all.

Dude deserves credit on all three TDs. It's not like he just closed his eyes and threw it backwards over his head lol...

    Nope.

Regardless, it is just a boring 9 minute video of nothing really happening and is not disturbing at all.

(not your words about disturbing - it's in the video title)

If you've "experienced" this in the form of a nightmare, it's nowhere near boring (well, a number of people in the comments don't think it is, either, and I assume they didn't all have the nightmare lol). I've had a number of dreams where I'm on the edge of a slope trying to keep myself from sliding off, with every move I make only making me slip closer to the edge...it's some heart-pounding **** to go through even if just in your mind.
