He might be the missing 53rd player I can't account for
Seems unlikely we’re only keeping 8 OLs, so I imagine he’s made it at least for now.

I remember people being pissed when we didn’t draft this guy and the Cowboys took him in the 4th.

Hodges making the initial roster according to Keim. Could be bad news for Armah… or maybe Pringle? Probably only space for one of those guys now.

I just saw that Jamison Crowder got released by the Giants? Punt returner?
That’s an interesting thought. He hasn’t done it much since he was with us though. Not sure how much juice he has left in the tank.

He’d take Milne’s spot presumably.

Sounds like he tore his rotator cuff, so this isn’t really a fake injury/stash situation although it has that effect.

Still think the main hinge point is 10 OLs or 7 WRs. But the 10th OL is now Scott or Larsen.

Texans are cutting LB / captain Christian Kirksey. He has done well with both run defense and pass coverage in the past. 30 years old. So Rivera is probably thinking, nothing to see here.
Not the end all be all but his PFF grades are brutal.

I was hoping to play Colt McCoy week 1. Now we have a bit of a challenge. Still no excuse to lose against Arizona.
Revenge game Colt seems like a less favorable matchup than Josh Dobbs who they signed a week ago. Not exactly concerned.

I'd draft any of those players on day 3 if they were in the draft, so I'd swap a pick for them, too.
Well sure, but drafted players also come with 4 year, team friendly contracts. So it’s not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

Queen played well after the Ravens signed Roquan Smith to a huge deal to play next to him and simplified his role. We don’t have anyone at the level of a Roquan Smith for Queen to play next to.I’m sure there’s truth to this, although I still think it’s safe to say he would at worst be the 2nd best LB on our roster.

Queen was a good player last year. I’d love to add him but it depends on the draft pick we’d have to give up. Trading picks for a pending free agents isn’t generally a good move for teams still in the rebuilding phase. If we can get him for a 5th or something I’d be into it.

That’s about as positive of an update as you can get on Howell. Means very little at this point but man… it’s hard not to get excited about what it would mean if he WAS actually the answer.

As Keim mentioned, this is round 2 of this story, he did this story last year too but Irsay noticed it this time.
Grant and Danny talking about this now on 106.7, saying if they lose a pick if its a 4th round or above, its a fireable offense. I agree.
the thing about it is it would be stupid on two levels.
A. The fact that they did this in the first place.
B. They couldn't help themselves but brag to Keim on the record that they turned over every stone including even Luck.
This FO can get a bit chesty when they think they accomplished something so if their need to brag contributed to them losing a draft pick -- I'd fire them all.
To be honest I want the new owner to clean house regardless, so yeah, fire them all.

Welp, that would be an absolute nightmare scenario.

I’ve gotten the vibe that they like Paul a lot. Wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up as the starter at LG.
-
Queen was hilariously bad for a couple years but then had a Jamin Davis like turn around last year and was actually pretty good. The problem is the Ravens already declined his 5th year option, so you’re essentially trading for 1 year of him. That’s worth maybe a 5th rounder, but I’m not sure I’d go any higher than that.

Special Teams (3):
PK (1): Slye --> look to replace
P (1): Way
LS (1): Cheeseman
Offense (26)
QB (3): Howell, Brissett, Fromm
OT (4): Leno, Wylie, Lucas, Daniels
IOL (5*): Gates, Stromberg, Cosmi, Paul, Charles (Larsen on PUP)
RB (3): Robinson, Gibson, Rodriguez
TE (5): Thomas, Bates, Turner, Rogers, Hodges
WR (6): McLaurin, Dotson, Samuel, Brown, Kemp, Milne/Allen
*IOL is the most likely spot they upgrade from now to season start, so we could see +1 to OL and a -1 to WR/TE.
Defense (24):
DT (4): Allen, Payne, Ridgeway, Mathis
DE (6): Young, Sweat, Obada, JSW, Henry, Toohill/Jones
LB. (4): Davis, Barton, Mayo, Hudson
CB (5): BSJ, Fuller, Forbes, Dantzler, Johnson
S (5): Curl, Forrest, Martin, Butler, Reaves
Roster is basically set now. Just fingers crossed to scoop up a cap casualty at LG.
This is really close to what I have. Only difference is I don’t think we keep a 3rd QB or a 5th TE unless someone really stands out. I have a 4th RB (Williams or Patterson) and an 11th DB (Holmes or Wildgoose) instead. Those guys are more proven contributors than Fromm or Hodges.

For what it’s worth Milne only had 12 punt returns and 2 kick returns in college. So it’s not crazy to think Allen could be our punt returner with an offseason of practice at it.

Actually my prior post is off. 33 inches is well off the tackle need. His arms are shorter than Scherff’sYeah I’m not buying him as a tackle. They are starting him there because if he sticks that’s more valuable, but that seems unlikely. Just like Davis didn’t stick at Mike and Charles/Cosmi probably aren’t sticking at tackle.

What’s interesting is it doesn’t look like Kazmeir retuned punts in college. You would think at his size he’d be more suited to punt return than kick returns. Hopefully it’s a similar enough skill that he could learn it. I can’t do another year of Milne back there.

If my math is right that puts us at 90. The official website lists 81 players in the roster (including draft picks), plus the 9 UDFAs.
-
Another big receiver (6-4)

6-3.5, 294 seems very small for a tackle. I think he ends up as a versatile backup but hopefully I’m wrong and he can develop into a starter somewhere.

Allen seems like the UDFA to watch. I think he has a real chance to steal the Dax Milne role and maybe even be a backup third down back type.

Pretty soon we’re gonna be running the league’s first no LB defense. Honestly might be our best bet if Jamin is out.
