  1. Yup. Of course you get punished for waiting. There’s not a player in the league who’s going to say, “No, you’re right. I should paid on last year’s pay scale.”
  2. Terry on top of everything else seems like a player you can trust if he gets a big deal. When we signed Haynesworth more than half of us expected him to become an unmotivated bum. Anyone think Terry will stop working? Every quality you want in a player: speed, drive, discipline, great at 50/50 balls, great in their system, always improving. Why the heck wouldn’t you sign him? Finish the bathroom!
  3. Time of death might have been 2020, but the skins entered the coma they never woke up from in 1999. There was that one brief moment when everyone thought they'd recover, but even St. Joe couldn't pull off a resurrection.
  4. I think about 2000. That year, the election was actually decided incorrectly. I won't say stolen because the Florida Dems did it to themselves by somehow developing a butterfly ballot that diverted more than enough votes away from Gore to give the election to Bush. Even Pat Buckhannon who was the beneficiary of those votes said they weren't his. And yes, there was major anger. And yes, there was major frustration. And yes, there were major protests. But you know what didn't happen? An insurrection that included the breach of the Capitol Building, the assault and murder of police, and a President egging on his followers to more violence. Now, maybe that's because Al Gore conceded even though everyone urged him to fight the results, but in any case, here was a case where almost everyone knew the election did not represent the will of the people or how they intended to vote and yet still the violent radical left did not try to overthrow the government.
  5. You can start here, but there are hundreds of legit articles about this, but even beyond the debunking, and proof that it’s not true the idea just makes no sense. I mean is the idea here that Pelosi didn’t want security because she didn’t want a Democrat in the Oval Office? Did Pelosi reject security because she wanted to get lynched? Why would Pelosi conspire against Biden’s election victory? Does that make any sense at all? https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/07/21/politics/fact-check-jim-jordan-nancy-pelosi-january-6-security/index.html
  6. Two thoughts: This isn't a Trump-bashing thread. This is a thread looking at the events of January 6th and it's aftermath. Within that context, I could say that Trump is a liar, who treasonously led an insurrection trying to destroy the US government while simultaneously fraudulently stealing from his own supporters who donated bigly. I could say that the evidence shows that Trump used that money for self-enrichment in opposition to what his donors thought they were supporting. And none of that would be bashing. Now, we could debate whether he engaged in active treason in his attempt to over throw the government, but again, follow the evidence. As for Biden bashing, there are threads on how to fix the Democratic Party. There are threads on the economy. And if there's not enough examination of Biden or enough Biden-Bashing, any poster can start a thread for that purpose. But again, this thread is about January 6, an insurrection against the United States, and the President's active engagement in fomenting it and profiteering from it. That's why you aren't reading a lot of Biden stuff in this thread.
  7. If you follow the evidence, listen to the testimony, and analyze the events objectively then it seems to lead to only one conclusion. "Both sides" does not mean pro-Trump and anti-Trump. Both sides means, people from different ideologies getting a say after reviewing the facts and participating in the gathering of those facts. When you go to court, you don't get a pro-defendant jury and an anti-defendant jury. You get a mix of people. And I guarantee you if the evidence led anywhere else at all, Kinzinger and Cheney would have been delighted. They'd be excited to say, "Hey, McCarthy, Trump, and all the rest had a real argument here." Cheney is about as anti-Dem as you can get based on her voting history and her family. Kinzinger seems look a good dude. A loyal, straight-up kind of soldier who puts duty and honor first. I bet it breaks his heart to go against party. Hell, he lost his seat because of it. He lost all standing in the party because of it. If he could say, "Stop! Here's a better truth!" He would, but as Bill Barr and so many other extremely high ranking Republicans in the know have said, the pro-Trump case is "bull****."
  8. It's absolutely one-sided. Every witness being testifying is from the Trump White House or has direct first person access to what happened in the moment. There's not a liberal or democratic view being heard. The only people being allowed to speak are Republicans. That's the very definition of one-sided.
  9. When I first arrived in ES, it was a hard right forum. Most of the posters are still "conservative." It's just that the party isn't anymore. They've been disillusioned and disappointed by a party that has betrayed their core beliefs repeatedly.
  10. They are doing a really good job. Will it move the needle? It would be great if for some the fog was lifted. I am doubtful though.
  11. One reason I don’t totally buy that the team is just waiting on money to come available is that McClaurin is holding out. If they were just waiting then they could reach an understanding or a handshake deal. Maybe Terry would be standing on the sidelines and not practicing, but he’d be present. It’s pretty clear that right now there is no deal and from what we understand the sides are far apart. That suggests that whatever the hang up is it is bigger than waiting for a check to clear.
  12. I do think that we need some federal regs that limit the ability of states to outright cheat especially in those states that have recently voted bills into law that say, "If we don't like the results of the vote we can override the people's will as long as we suspect foul play (but we don't have to prove foul play or show any evidence of it.) I will say I have long (like for thirty years) been of the mind that we have outgrown the usefulness of the electoral college. The Presidency is a national office. It should be voted for by the nation not the states especially in an era where communication is as advanced as it is today (albeit sometimes that very technology is more of a problem than a useful tool.) But I don't think I'm for increasing the number of Senators or Reps either.
  13. I hate the report that Terry hasn't even received an offer yet. Maybe that means something different than I think it means. Maybe it means that the agent is saying they haven't received a "credible" offer yet, but this isn't the first time we've heard that. We heard that with McKissic and a number of other free agents, too. It's damn hard to get a deal if you don't negotiate.
  14. I suspect it's because almost everyone got a mulligan for 2020. Probably the rules around Covid practices and the players lost due to injury or illness made it hard to evaluate anyone. That, or Dan's broke, and can't afford a new DC and to pay JDR his leftover guaranteed salary.
  15. But how can JDR’s strategy of rushing four and playing off coverage while making no one has coverage responsibility for the tight end or any receiver more than thirty yards downfield not work? Why does his vanilla play calling not cause more confusion?
  16. Really an awful, awful ruling. This is exactly the kind of thing that the colonists rebelled about. The Supreme Courts just gave the Redcoats the ability to enter, abuse their power, and act without limitations.
  17. Could, but I think it'd be disastrous for team morale and I suspect team morale is already on shaky grounds due to the never ending side issues that plague the team. He's exactly the kind of guy you want. Produces. Hard worker. Good citizen. Leader by example who shows the pups how to be successful yet is almost still a pup himself. On top of all that, he is arguably one of the best at his position.
  18. If that's the position Washington is taking, that Terry needs to prove something before getting a big time extension, then they have lost him. Frankly, yours was the position I took with Kirk Cousins after his breakout year. Cousins looked really good for about half a season. Before that, in spot duty, he was sometimes good and sometimes a turnover machine. I thought the team was right to say, "prove it to us that you can be the man." Of course, the year after that first franchise tag when Cousins was great, they again low balled him. Terry doesn't need to "prove" it. He is a proven top receiver. He didn't have a breakout year where he was a one-time wonder. He's been consistently there for us. And he's done it without much help. Frankly, it's a lot easier to be a top receiver when you have Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Maholmes tossing you the ball. Smith was limited before the injury and then one-legged and dead-armed after it. Heinike's moxie made the offense productive, but his arm made him inaccurate and made easy catches into contested ones. Regardless, if you wait 'til you see elite, the player will be out the door. Terry's shown enough for the team to make him the face of the franchise and for TV coverage to have him be the player that announcers talk up week in and week out. He's the player on our team that people recognize. He's the one consistent threat that defenses key on and he still comes through. He doesn't need to prove it to the team. The team needs to prove it to him or they will lose him. And let's be honest. If Terry decides he's pissed off at the team and sits out. Yeah, maybe he loses a boatload of money that he won't recover, but when he gets that next contract with that next team he will be made for life. His kids will be, too. Let's say he loses 20 million by not signing and only makes 80 million in his career instead of 100. Do you think that makes that big a difference in his lifestyle or retirement?
