  1. Just exactly how rare a prospect is Young exactly?   Peppers, Clowney, Garrett, one of the Bosa brothers?   Better, worse, where?   I'm not a huge draft guy and don't start tuning in for it until February really, but this guy seems to have buzz regardless of the fact we are in the running for him.   I know Shannon Sharpe felt Young got dominated by the Clemson right tackle.    Which would be worrisome.   But the Big Ten has good offensive linemen generally so it's not like he went up against slouches.   Regardless, I really only want him if we're actually running a 4-3.   Then go nuts :).

But if you make him a stand up linebacker I'm gonna be pissy.

I agree with this, good QBs shredded us up the middle because we were so slow and once Dunbar went down our defense fell off a cliff. Maybe it's just me, but Hamilton doesn't seem that slow. That could be because he was playing next to Foster though.

Hamilton is normal speed, not slow.   He's just not "fast".   And we're adding "fast".

  3. Say what you want to say, but NO ONE can say the Redskins didn't realize, as an organization, they were super slow on the field.   Ignore the offensive linemen and Haskins who don't HAVE to be fast.   The team clearly weighed "speed" relative to the position as an immense benefit in this draft.   Speed, relative to the position, is the key thing you are seeing here for us for sure.   This guy is an inside backer who is way too small, like Hamilton, but unlike Hamilton, has high level speed and burst at the position.   The Redskins realize they lack team speed and are doing their best effort to increase that with each pick it seems.

  4. Good measurables and seems like a solid work ethic.   We suck on special teams so if he can ONLY make that a little better it won't be a bad pick.   I like giving Haskins a guy he knows too.   Seems like a very good pick at this spot.   Probably not the value of the first two picks given draft grade and where selected, but a player you can like having on your team who seems pretty thick and does the dirty little things we don't always excel at :).

A lot of Sweat’s 2017 play is more of a traditional 3-4 OLB. Lots of TE coverage, trailing RBs to the flat and rushing the QB on 3rd downs. Showed great flex and speed and had a great inside move similar to Kerrigan’s first few years. Then in 2018 he clearly bulked up and was playing a more traditional DE role and never lost his speed due to increased weight. But what he did add to his pass rush was more power. I absolutely love this pick. I think Saquan Barkley becomes a non factor with Kerrigan and Sweat on the edge and Collins at box safety.

I've seen him in coverage some, but mostly hand down.   And his biggest and best plays are when the hand is down.   I tend to dislike taking guys who seem better at DE and making them be OLB.   But this guy is athletic enough to maybe make it happen as I expect that's his future.

  6. This guy has pretty exciting measurables AND pretty exiting production and looks good on film.

The downside for us is because he hasn't been a standup edge player which he'll have to be with us (though we'll chat on that in a minute) he will be lost in space in any coverage situation and after YEARS of seeing Kerrigan and Smith picked apart on the edge, this is NOT ideal.   Assuming the obvious that they intend to use him as a standup, this will be something to watch for, but he'll certainly be no worse than Smith in this area just given he can run a bit, and even if he dies on the field due to the heart condition, he'll roughly match Smith's impact on the play he dies on.

Now, here's a shot in the dark.

Actually play the defensive end AT defensive end.   He is UNDERSIZED for a 3/4 hand-on-the-ground every down end.   But the league passes a lot.   Anderson is behind him in this scenario.   You have Payne inside with Allen on the other side, so you can shade to help him in run situations you worry about him getting pushed back.   Anderson is slightly ok in coverage -- or at least an upgrade to Smith or Sweat in such an area (at least next year while Sweat learns it).    But I'd love to see him play his natural position.   And, of course, for us to immediately go to a 4-3. :).

    Dear Gang,

I apologize for deluding you about my true self. I really didn't want anyone to judge me for my gender. But by now you all know I'm nuts anyway, so I figure it doesn't matter!!

    Sincerely & HTTR,

Poor dear. You have no idea what you've just done to yourself :).

    That's actually a compliment I think :).

You're all just about fully clothed in that picture. What a let down :).

  9. I've got no pictures of me on the web. But I do of my wife :). Well, kind of. It's her head shot for work. But, it'll have to do :). She will not be attending this week's game with me as I've banished her to tend my mother and sister. Punishment like you wouldn't believe. Makes me seem all the more engaging afterward. There is a plan I tell you.
