  1. there are many situations in life where having 'adults' in a room isn't that beneficial if the 'adults' don't have the wherewithal to assert themselves sufficiently when appropriate (see 'questionable' parenting in public) the old guidance holds--avoid being the bulldozer or the doormat as a default...be like bruce said...be water...maintain the ability to be anything necessary across a very wide range of options depending on the circumstances there's flawed thinking behind many suggested applications of 'take the high road' or 'set a better example' (and many where suc

  2. Married life getting boring? I was thinking about showing up to vote in person wearing my ‘I voted at home’ sticker to see how people reacted, but the poor election workers deserve better. And both of my dogs, even the stupid one, deserve a vote as much as some folks.

  3. why let that stop you. From what I’ve heard you can just go to North Carolina and vote using your dogs name. Then go to your car, change your shirt and vote again.

  5. if you are technically a conservative If you believe the Republican Party is worthy of being saved and should be saved you’re going to have to come to terms with something. Immediately, if you haven’t already. Something I came to terms with a while ago on the 2nd amendment for the same basic reason. You’ve had ample opportunity to do something about this problem. You’ve done nothing. Your options now are to support the Democrats while you clean house, or you keep on going which means you’re actively supporting and furthering the problem. That’s right. You’

  9. I think the Haskins debate is getting a bit intense. I think there is an underpinning though to some of these arguments where people aren't going to see eye to eye because the underpinning is different. Camp A: Haskins is mega talented. He's a franchise QB and its borderline obvious. We just need to be patient with him. Everyone needs to chill and factor the mitigating factors that are delaying his progress. Give him time and you will likely see it. They don't say its 100% slam dunk but its likely to go down for him being the guy so don't ruin it with impatience. And t

  10. ^^ Or even if they don't lose. Actually, after some of the things Republicans have pulled, after losing elections, I've had this fantasy of some constitutional amendments: Any action taken, by government officials, during the period between an election, and the implementation of the results of said election, must be reaffirmed by the newly-installed officials, (Using the same rules as were used for the decision - for example, if it took a 60% vote to pass, then it takes a 60% vote to reaffirm), within 90 days, or it becomes invalid.

  11. We won 3 games last year. In one of those 3 games Haskins was the starter when we beat a team for whom Kyle Allen started. This is a long term project - its not a quick fix where you can replace QB A with QB B who might be a bit better and that gets you the 1 or 2 wins that get you a wild card. Its about building a team that COULD compete for a Championship down the road. Part of this season was always about evaluating Haskins and how he could develop in this system and you don't do that in 2 starts. One of which he won I might add (although we all know he was not the r

  12. Yes, I didn’t think he should be drafted at all. Now he is ours; people get into name calling & resort to all sorts of e-nonsense over any rational evaluation of any single play, and the mods don’t need to deal with me dealing with those responses, so I don’t get into as much here as I’d typically like to. I am a fan of Haskins, I have zero relationship with anything I’ve thought in the past, though I have a relationship with the reasons I see certain things & that relationship evolves daily. I have seen you echo my thoughts/beliefs on these things, I don’t root

  13. I think it's also useful to remember that the case of Merrick Garland was not unique under McConnell. Despite the Constitutional imperative to vote on a President's judicial picks, the GOP sat and refused to hold an up or down vote on more than a hundred benches. This led to the infamous recess appointments which the GOP decried so. It also led to them packing the bench under trump, very often with candidates who the bar said did not meet the qualifications to be a judge. Garland is remember because he was a Supreme Court nominee, but we really shouldn't discount the hundreds of ot

  14. This can be a very frustrating fanbase to deal with. I think anyone who tries to evaluate Haskins fairly up to this point, has consistently said the same things, and nothing has changed since the beginning. To say he has shown no flashes is ridiculous -- the last two games of last year, he showed flashes How can we already forget that, it was only two games ago in the Haskins timeline??? 2 starts, 1 mediocre, and 1 bad, and we've already forgotten what was an elite level worth of 2 games? I mean come on, lets try to keep a vaguely even keel. I know both me and vols

  16. Better blocking and a better scheme to get him some open targets to hit. But when he has open targets he has to hit them much more consistently than he has done so far. He is leaving plays in the field he just can't because we don't have the talent to have any margin for error on offense. But this has to be allowed to play out - we have to see if Haskins can develop despite whats around him and if the scheme/play calling can develop to give him a better chance as well.

  17. Ok, so we wait 8 years for him to develop? That will put us in the 2027 season.

  19. The only reason to pull the trigger on switching to Allen is because you are in danger of losing the locker room. Other than that, I am 100% on board with Rivera playing Haskins all 16 games to fully evaluate whether or not he wants to continue to develop him, or draft his own quarterback.

  20. Absolutely. Move the pocket. Use play action. Call quick hitters. Neutralize the front because the line can’t. **** we’re not even really utilizing motions. All the wrong things to do if you’re trying to offset a developing QB and porous line.

The draft thread has been thoroughly enjoyable for this ES Cheerleader. You glorious goofballs have given me quite a bit to gain from in that thread over the last couple years.

  24. Mail has been slow around PG and I can't chance for my ballot to get there late. I'm going to see if I can go to the Election Board and drop my application off and take it back there. This election is too important to sit on the sidelines. I told my family in Ohio and Michigan to take everyone to the polls or send that ballot in ASAP.

  26. I have no idea what is happening with the backs and the passing game. We heard all summer about what a big part they would play in the passing scheme, and part of why AP was released was because he didn't fit in that intention. On Sunday we had 3 targets to backs for 1 catch for -3 yards. Getting RBs involved in the passing game, getting Haskins some easy completions, getting into 2nd and short more, using screens ti help slow the pass rush ... all this is kind of football 101 and I am really confused as to why its not happening.

  27. Agree but there is some nuance to your point. You weren't high on him in the draft. LOL, I recall on draft day both you and me rooting for him to be picked before our pick. Your feeling seems to be (correct me if I am wrong) that you weren't confident that he would conquer his weaknesses in the NFL. But for him to have a fighting chance to do it, he'd need the right situation with a good supporting cast and that hasn't happened for him. I agree with all of that. It's not personal with me with any player. When I watch WFT games often with my kids by my side, I am rooting for

  34. I acknowledge that far too many of you have been following this thread in hopes of getting a glimmer of what Bowhunter thinks about this issue. So as my contribution to the collective ES sanity I'll share it now. 1) I approved of drafting Haskins 2) I disapproved of letting Trent sit/walk without an honest and forthright discussion to soothe his fragile ego. Now Haskins is paying the price of that ineptitude 3) Haskins CAN be the guy. He is currently overthinking and not reacting. Get him out of the pocket more often 4) I believe he is showing great progress in seeing the

  36. Then call me insane. No way I'd make that trade. It wouldn't even be a hard decision not even a little bit. Maybe if AJ Green was 23 again. I was curious so just looked up all the QBR ratings this far which I do take more seriously than PFF grades. I thought Baker wasn't having a hot year. Brady, wow. Season though is still young obviously.
