Benjamin Allbright 2024 NFL Mock Draft ByBenjamin Allbright Apr 24, 2024 As I think everyone at this point knows, I do one mock draft every year. This year I decided to project some trades and have some fun with it. Advance intel: -I think there is one very specific scenario in which the Broncos would trade up. I did not project that here, but if a certain QB were available at a certain point I think they would TRY. -There are a couple teams I'm aware of that are monitoring and would possibly move from the second round back into the first. The Texans and Commanders are two of those teams. I believe the Commanders want an OT. -The Bills have made calls about moving up for a WR, but as of this writing I don't see that happening. -There's a lot of talk centered around Michael Penix in the first recently. Most people I've talked to, their teams aren't considering that but could see another team doing that. I'd suggest that the leading teams to trade back in and do that would be the Patriots, Giants and possibly the Raiders (who love Jayden Daniels). -There are some WR that may be traded during the draft that could definitely shake up the outcomes (Aiyuk, Sutton). -Quite a few teams trying to burn the phones up as of this writing to get up and get their tackle. I expect a lot of trades. So without further ado... Bears - QB Caleb Williams. This is a no brainer. Everyone has known this since the Senior Bowl when they were openly shopping Justin Fields, despite reports to the contrary. Commanders - QB Jayden Daniels. Almost universally everyone I talked to had him over Drake Maye. Patriots - QB Drake Maye I really thought the Vikings might crack and make the trade to get here. Ultimately Pats take Maye. Cardinals - WR Marvin Harrison While a trade back is possible, I suspect the parties that'd be interested simply aren't willing to give enough to move them. Vikings (via LAC)* - QB JJ McCarthy Trade up! After missing on Maye, four QBs in the top 5. Vikings only give one first this year. Giants - WR Malik Nabers Several teams have him as the top WR in this draft. Titans - OT Joe Alt Don't rule out a WR here. Falcons - EDGE Dallas Turner Best coverage edge rusher for a scheme that demands their edges drop back at times. Latu in play here as well. Saints (via CHI)* - OT Olu Fashanu Saints move up and fill a huge need. Jets - TE Brock Bowers Versatile mismatch TE/ off the line Y for Aaron Rodgers. Fuaga a consideration here. Chargers (via Minn)* - OL JC Latham I think the Chargers can get quality WR help later. Eagles (via Den)* - CB Quinyon Mitchell Eagles trade up to get their corner. (give up pick 50) Raiders - CB Terrion Arnold Raiders could look to go OL here as well. Not buying Penix at 13 hype. Bears (via NO)* - DT Byron Murphy Bears land the premier IDL talent in the draft. Colts - WR Rome Odunze Slide stops here, adds a weapon for Anthony Richardson. Could see trade down here. Seahawks - OT Troy Fautanu OC Ryan Grubb was his collegiate coach 49ers (via JAX)* - WR Brian Thomas Jr I projected an Aiyuk trade and pick swap here Bengals - OL Taliese Fuaga Slide stops here Rams - EDGE Laitu Latu I think OT would be a strong consideration here as well. Steelers - OL Graham Barton The Steelers need at C is well known. Russ needs clean A gaps to operate. Dolphins - OL Jackson Powers-Johnson I think they'd love Barton to be here, but McDaniel will love JPJ personality Broncos (via PHI)* - EDGE Jared Verse Possibility the Broncos could move back yet again and grab more picks. Nix is a day two talent. Vikings - OL Tyler Guyton After not giving up this pick in trade (future picks) the Vikings get additional QB protection. Cowboys - OL Amarius Mims Cowboys have too many needs to trade up, take the OL that falls in their lap. Packers - DB Cooper DeJean Versatile DB can play safety or corner. Wouldn't be surprised to see Packers TRY to move up. Buccaneers - EDGE Chop Robinson - Couple options here CB or edge. ultimately went edge. Commanders (via AZ) - OL Patrick Paul Maybe a bit earlier than expected. Bills - WR Xavier Worthy Bills tried to trade up but were unsuccessful. Land a WR anyway. Lions - CB Kool Aid McKinistry Lions could be a trade back candidate here, Ravens - OL Jordan Morgan Went back and forth with this one. Probably my most debated pick Jaguars (via SF)* - CB Nate Wiggins Wiggins could slip to 2nd. Chiefs - OL Kingsley Suamataia BYU connection again for Reid? .
  3. 6 years is a long time for a stupid mistake you regret not so for something you still believe was right (and I guess are willing to do it again if allowed)
  4. I haven't been a strong advocate for trading back into the first round, but if it falls like this, with Fuaga/Fautanu/Mims sitting there, I hope they make some inquiries. The Rook
  5. https://koacolorado.iheart.com/featured/koa-denver-broncos/content/2024-04-24-benjamin-allbright-2024-nfl-mock-draft/ Allbright is plugged in. He projected enough trades that there’s no way this will end up accurate but it’s interesting at least to get a glimpse of the things he’s obviously been hearing He has us trading 36 + 78 for 27 to take Patrick Paul. Personally I think we’d get a little something back there in reality, maybe a 5th
  6. I honestly don’t understand what that argument is and how it has to do with what the charges are and whether the law was broken “they didn’t search my secret hiding areas when they found all that **** illegally lied about having, illegally possessed, and refused to turn back over”
  7. Yeah, back when the Commanders had dinner with McCarthy, wasn't there some rumor out that Josh Harris was smitten and wanted him over Daniels and Maye, with others supporting Daniels (GMAP?) or Maye (Quinn?)?
  8. I’d say it’s a typo. But this IS America … If the Chargers take Latham over Harrison in the above scenario we should all riot in sympathy with Chargers fans and everyone involved in the Chargers organization down to the guy who cleans out the locker rooms should be fired for cause.
  9. Is Charles Robinson that guy whose famous for last day drafts that nail picks no one else predicts until AFTER his draft comes out? If so I’ll bet he’s right that McCarthy is going to NE and the Vikes are getting Maye at 4. According to Keim we were strongly considering McCarthy at two. XXXXXXXX It’s decadent but good! Tell ‘em Commander Rye sent you and you get a free cajun fry. .
  10. Anybody think GMAP definitely will take a 2nd QB late in the draft? Per the Hogs Haven tracker, Commanders did meetings at the pro days for almost all the QBs in this class, and they met individually at some point with a total of at least 26 QBs during the pre-draft process. Wondering if GMAP really thinks he might Purdy the draft again.
  11. Trump and His Mar-a-Lago Co-Defendants Switch Tactics Attorneys for Donald Trump’s co-defendants switched direction in a motion Tuesday, arguing that FBI agents weren’t thorough enough in their search of the ex-president’s Mar-a-Lago estate when they retrieved top-secret documents from there in 2022. The abrupt about-face—after over a year of Trump and his allies decrying the search itself as “unconstitutional” and invasive—referred to the fact that federal investigators missed a “hidden room” near Trump’s bedroom and a locked closet during their search of the premises, both of which may have contained classified documents. Now, attorneys for Trump co-defendant Walt Nauta—and on behalf of Carlos De Oliveira and Trump himself—have demanded that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s cough up “records concerning the FBI’s apparent failure to search several areas of President Trump’s residence during their execution of a search warrant on Mar-a-Lago.” If approved, the request would require Smith’s team to hand over any internal government communications related to the search of Mar-a-Lago that reference these hidden rooms—which they allege were known to the FBI prior to its raid. The defense is apparently using the government oversight to argue that their own obstruction charges are invalid, thanks to feds’ willful “ignorance” about the existence of the room they missed in their search. “Indeed, the only explanation for this failure is that the [special counsel office] intends to rely on its ignorance of what was in former President Trump’s residence as part of its pitch to the jury that boxes were moved for the purpose of concealing their contents from the investigation,” the motion said. 12. I’ve had peanut butter and jelly wings. Never had a bacon shake. Might have to try it?
  13. These late mocks from semi-plugged in guys sometimes reveal things. This would keep a QB out of NYG…would hate to root against Marvin Harrison Jr. there but that’s still better than a potential franchise QB
  14. I definitely wouldnt mind it either if he is the pick….The home video was extremely extremely awesome… my only issue is I know I’m old… my oldest daughter was born December of 2003… so JJ is 11 months older… wow 🤩
  15. Yes, that’s how I knew it had to be 5 Guys. I used to get a chocolate, peanut butter, banana, bacon, milkshake, cajun fries, and a bacon cheeseburger loaded with all the fixins and the patties liberally sprinkled with cajun seasoning before they’re grilled. Years later I’m still waiting for the last of it to finally be expunged in a bowel movement. .
  16. I said he’s the worst decision maker of the top four, which he is…but here you so go since you asked..straight from NFL.COM Said an AFC executive: "He's got arm talent. He's fast. He is a smaller man, so you worry about the pounding. I don't think he's a good processor. [Though he] actually got a good S2 (cognitive test score); I'm surprised he took it because nobody's taking it. Look, I don't penalize him like a lot of people do -- 'Well, they only threw the ball f---ing eight times in this game.' They've done that forever. What I don't like is you can watch a play and you can tell, OK, they're going to this guy. And if the defense calls it, they've got it covered, he will f---ing wait and wait and wait and wait and start moving around and moving around and he is throwing it to that f---ing dude. You're like, Goddamn, look somewhere else! And he's athletic, so a lot of times he can do it. I think there's some miss factor, but there's some upside." https://www.nfl.com/news/2024-nfl-draft-pro-execs-scouts-coaches-rank-and-evaluate-the-top-20-prospects-in-this-qb-class You should read up some more on the QBs this draft. There’s some good material out there.
  17. I just feel like passing on Maye for NE would be overthinking it. Draft him, sit him for eight games or so, draft around him, maybe grab some guys in the post draft FA pool, and just build around him. You're #3 in a class with 3-4 blue chip prospects depending on how one ranks them, and you don't know when you'll be back up here.
